LG has spilled the beans on its upgrade plans to the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android -- although it's not all good news. The upgrades won't start until the second quarter of 2012 (April-June), with some being held back for the third quarter (July-September), Engadget reports. So if you own an LG handset, you could be looking at a nine month wait to get ICS.
Compare this to Samsung, who will start upgrading some of its handsets in the first three months of 2012, and Sony Ericsson, who's doing the same, and you can't help but feel a little left out if you own an LG smart phone.
The full list of LG phones getting the upgrade is as follows: from April to June, Ice Cream Sandwich will come to the LG Optimus LTE, LG Prada Phone 3.0, LG Optimus 2X, LG Optimus Sol, LG myTouch Q, and the LG Eclipse. From July to September, the upgrade will be available for the LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus Black, LG Optimus Big, LG Optimus Q2, and the LG Optimus EX. Exact dates will vary by market, so look out for an announcement nearer the time.
LG made the announcement on its Facebook page, and was then deluged with comments from customers enraged at having to wait. "Really… you think ppl will wait nine months or more for ics… that's pathetic… get moving," one wrote. "First and last time I buy an LG device. Oh well," another said. "This is why your [sic] on your way to eight straight quarters with a loss in revenue when it comes to mobile phones," another wrote. Ouch. See, big companies, social media works both ways.
Do you own an LG device? And are you annoyed at having to wait longer than others for the upgrade? Let us know below, or over on our Facebook page. And please, be nice.

If your phone works fine, what's your problem?
If it doesn't, that's your fault for going Android. Throw it in the bin and try again.

I think LG is the same as Dell both only think about releasing new handset not looking at the existing customers
they need to rethink their marketing if they only care about the new comers one day soon they will run out of new comers
I have a Lg phone and will not get a second Lg as I did not get a new Del
I think they need more good developers freelance developer at xda does better job than a whole team.
I had to root my Dell steak to get the updates and will do the same with my Lg
Shame on you (Dell and Lg)

Why are android fanboys sooo obsessed with updates. Is it because they don't want a phone that just works efficiently they want to tinker and fiddle so it looks like when u swipe between apps they are revolving with a big futuristic cube effect or something. Strange isn't it? I just like my phone to work and do what it does well. Oh well, kids will be kids.

a bit like htc but at least lg phones will have the memory for the upgrade. the only thing i dont understand is what will ics bring other than face recoginition? i ask this with regards to the companies adding their skins and bloat wear to the OS. in my eyes theres not point in ics if the phone is going to operate pretty much the same way and look like the one you have in your hands. i think for pr it really is best to go with winphone will be very easy to updgrade cos these blasted companies are not allowed to ruin the user experience intended other than adding great services like nokia have with nokia drive etc.

"Kids will be kids"... You're such a prick.
People like tinkering with their phones because tinkering is fun. You learn when you tinker.
People who buy Android would tinker around in the settings even if it was already perfect by their standards. They do it because THEY don't just take whatever's given to them as is, and aren't just satisfied because they're told to be satisfied by their masters.
Only a true idiot would think it's because they're "kids", and only a true twat would say it.

Naryan,
Nobody is going to thank you for language like that. Try to express yourself without unncessary infantile vulgarity.
"Anon".

Spot the Apple fanboys time
people would like ICS as adds new features, not a difficult concept to grasp.

Actually, the use of colloquialisms in language adds a richness to ones vocabulary that use of formal language does not always do.
Plus you actually are a twat. No offence.

I own the LG Optimus Black & if didn't also own the Lumia 800 I would be livid, I do like android but believe the future could well lie with Windows.

no excuse for taking this long when they have the resources...makes em no better than independant developers at xda who still manage to outdo these "big" corporations
