HTC One X owners, stand by your smart phones -- reports suggest the much-anticipated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is now arriving on devices in Europe.
Android Central quotes HTC saying the update is "rolling out now" to Asia and Europe. I've contacted HTC for confirmation of this and I'll update the story when I hear back, but for now the timing makes sense, as HTC already vowed to squeeze out the update for the One X and One S in October.
HTC is reportedly pushing out the update to different batches of One X devices at different times, so don't be alarmed if you haven't spied the update on your smart phone yet. I've asked HTC UK for comment, but there's no news just yet.
If you have spotted Jelly Bean popping up on your One X however, let us know in the comments, and don't forget to mention which country you live in too -- it might help fellow One X owners track the mysterious software's release. Bear in mind this update is probably only for unlocked models, so if you bought your One X from a network you'll have to wait for it to send its own version of the new software.
As well as delivering the latest version of Android, the update will come packaged with Sense 4+, a new edition of HTC's custom 'droid skin. Despite the popularity of raw-Android Nexus devices, Sense is still one of our favourite manufacturer-meddled interfaces, so I'll be interested to hear thoughts from owners on the new version.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is unlikely to be cutting-edge for long. Google was expected to reveal details regarding Android 4.2 at an event today -- along with a first official glimpse at the LG Nexus 4 and Samsung Nexus 10 -- but unfortunately the New York-based event has been cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.
Have you spotted Jelly Bean on your One X? Is HTC delivering updates fast enough? Tell me in the comments or on our Facebook wall.

I know its not HTC but just got my its Jellybean update on my S3. Defo a lot smoother then it was.
CaptainPicard 29 October, 2012 15:34
Im on Orange and theres no sign of it. To be honest I can wait, ICS is perfect and I just brought the phone exactly a month ago, but hope all networks offer JB before the end of the year. And Android 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1 made my One X much smoother than it was.
And have Orange and T-Mobile S3 users received their JB update yet??
anonymous 29 October, 2012 15:53
I wish you lot would point out that this is for UNBRANDED phones.3 are still in the testing stage and have no release plans

"Bear in mind this update is probably only for unlocked models, so if you bought your One X from a network you'll have to wait for it to send its own version of the new software".
Unless there was a rapid bit of editing i think the above clearly states the update is/possibly for sim free versions.

Nothing in UK. Unlocked model
anonymous 30 October, 2012 11:59
Hmm i've read this on lots of sites now about the European roll-out, but all the reports are coming from the same source; Android Central. i have not seen one single comment or article from anyone who has actually received the update? and as the apparent roll-out started 3 days ago, it seems a little strange!!
anonymous 30 October, 2012 12:40
Im keeping ICS on both tablets and phones. I do not want to loose flash support, which I trully need
anonymous 30 October, 2012 20:55
I am running flash on my Nexus 7 with JB without any problems. Just because they don't support it doesn't mean you can't install it.
I have also got nothing on an unlocked HTC_001 One X.
anonymous 30 October, 2012 22:41
I'm glad that its now being pushed out....I have been testing it and it after a few bugs, its looking smooth and really glad its ready for the general public. The team have worked hard.
anonymous 31 October, 2012 08:34
HTC said it will be out in October so they've only got one more day! ;)
anonymous 31 October, 2012 14:44
HTC said it would start rolling out in October (which it has) They didn´t say it would have been finished rolling out by October....Dim Wit!
anonymous 31 October, 2012 15:36
Is there really any benefit in updating phones via their
CID rather than their region?

UK - sim free one-x still nothing :( Cant wait though check the stats - http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/htc-one-x-jelly-bean-update-brings-massive-increase-performance-27028/
Rich Evans 3 November, 2012 13:43
Still no update, htc_001 unlocked UK. pretty poor really. I love my HOX but won't be getting another HTC. I actually miss my s2 at times. Samsung has confirmed they are updating the s2 to Jellybean and at this rate. It get it before the HOX.
anonymous 4 November, 2012 10:52
It is galling to see friends with S3's who already have JB :-(
anonymous 4 November, 2012 13:38

anonymous 8 November, 2012 01:03
Still no htc one x update! Really sucks
anonymous 8 November, 2012 18:35
Why give false promises and not deliver! This will surely be the last HTC I'll ever buy, no wonder their going bust
anonymous 10 November, 2012 18:01
Unlocked, CID HTC_044, Pakistan, still desperately waiting for the update. Getting tired of seeing same message "no update for your phone".
Elton J Ebas 11 November, 2012 11:58
Mine is cid044. Waiting. As far as i search, jb update is base on the cid not regions, so only certain cids will get it early...be patient guys. Its already rolling out and surely we all get it by or before Christmas..
I relocked my hox2 weeks ago and waited till now. Htc is providing the best they can at least no or less bugs even if its late update we get.
ONE GOOD IDEA FROM XDA MEMBERS, GET NEXUS AND TASTE THE JELLY.
Really, whats wrong with some people? First they were anxiously and happily bought the One X, great phone they say, when jelly is up for ota and they came out late, those same people would say htc liar, this and that.....just saying. Sorry for my words. Sometimes i wish google would not say anything about new os before every company gets it purely 100% worked.
none 11 November, 2012 17:50
Nothing in greece, yet.i bought my htc from uk..so i dunno when the update will be available
anonymous 12 November, 2012 11:51

I am sorry but we do not have a specified date for this but we are looking by the end of the year maybe less however this is just a rough time.

Please wait while we find an agent to assist you...
You have been connected to Eleanor.
Eleanor: Hi joe , thank you for contacting HTC Support. How may I help you today?
joe campbell: hi just want to know when htc one x will receive jelly bean my phone is with 02 network. thanks
Eleanor: We are excited about the latest upgrade for Android, the 4.1 known as 'Jelly Bean'. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean.
We are currently reviewing its features and functionality to determine our upgrade plans for our product portfolio. While our goal is to bring the latest software updates to as many of our recent devices as possible, we are committed to maintaining every phone's performance and usability first.
I suggest you to follow periodically our official website and social media networks for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about the new software.
Eleanor: If your device is branded to a Network this may take longer to come to your device as this comes from the Network themselves.
joe campbell: how long do they normally take after the release it?
Eleanor: I cannot say, it is up to them if and when they release this.
joe campbell: ok thanks for ur help,

anonymous 15 November, 2012 20:31
Will the update arrive as a notification or do I need to check the software updates every day on my HTC one x.I'm on Tesco (02) no joy yet
anonymous 15 November, 2012 22:39
I hate when people say, " ill never buy another HTC, cuz they didn't roll out updates as fast as Samsung this time". That's complete bullshit, everyone knows HTC IS the highest end android hardware MFG. They have a lottt on their mind and shoulders atm, the focus is kind of evenly distributed. Whatever crysis tho, HTC never failed to continuously amaze me with their innovative and ultra modern approach and ever so detailed work on h/w and s/w part. It's obvious they are doing all they can at all times, so you know updates will get much more attn once they restructure themselves - which is what they're doing. OneX is like a military tough design, S3 is a toy, a girlie toy. It has no presence.
Elton J Ebas 16 November, 2012 06:05
Agree with comment above...
We shouldnt judge which brands or company providing high end gadgets like these, hox, s3, gn2 and such..theyre all different to different ppl...for kids, girls, ladies, guys, devs, gadgets maniacs like me, and many more..
Each updates/otas are based on gadgets and bugs and mostly thr systems itself..whether we get the update or not its what we should apprehend to..
Again i say...wanna hv the best of JELLY? get the Nexus, its on Jelly...not satisfied? Go buy some jelly and eat all u can...;)
anonymous 16 November, 2012 18:01
No up date in Norway. Unbranded. CID HTC_Y13
anonymous 17 November, 2012 09:31
I got a text from orange today advising of system update, wasn't jelly bean though, unsure what bit was really and can't seem to find out. Did manual software update check and wasn't one, still on 4.0.4.
anonymous 18 November, 2012 10:34
my htc one x is on o2 germany with cid o2 __ 102 .. i can confirm there is no jellybean update yet!!
anonymous 19 November, 2012 12:47
I'm not upgrading. I don't want to lose flash support. People are saying that flash is working on JB. This is partially true. It is working but it is crashing constantly, tested on my ASUS Transformer Pad tf300 with JB. Apart from slight performance improvements I do not see any big advantages over Ice Cream Sandwich.
anonymous 20 November, 2012 05:49
For Jelly Bean update i was waiting for a long time and finally it will come.i am very happy to hear this news....:)

Still no update in Jordan, but I have high expectations with HTC.
anonymous 23 November, 2012 10:21
this was the first and last time I bought an HTC course they don't keep their promises
STILL NO UPDATE !
anonymous 24 November, 2012 01:55
HTC One X - no update, Galaxy Nexus (work phone) already on 4.2.... I cannot fault HTC build quality and for that i would not get a samsung for a personal phone, way too cheaply made but i will say i'm extremely disappointed at how HTC has become so unreliable with their updates and their support team are useless... No real information what so ever, just scripted responses, even when asking more detailed questions they just repeat the same response... utterly useless
anonymous 24 November, 2012 15:17
I have received the update finally!! The improvements are vast :D look out for the update folks!

Elton J Ebas 27 November, 2012 16:10
JB for CID_044 is already up...didnt realised that they really roll out since 25/11..now for those with cid044 surely gonna be happy, after all the crappy ideas from some. its not base on regions actually because HTC released for India with 044cid but we here in Malaysia also got it along...i've tested it for 3 days in stock and really nice althought batt life increased just about 30% as for me..overall its great. i've unlocked and rooted with ARHD 15 roms. gonna test the other Great JB Roms out there, 'till i find the best for my HOX.
As for the OTHER CIDs, JB gonna come through yours so BETTER SAFE, RELOCKED< STOCK AND WAIT>> surely They'll come before CHRISTMAS>.
Elton J Ebas 27 November, 2012 16:16
HTC ONE X CID_044.
H-boot should be Updated first to 1.36.
Then Firmware Updated along. about 3++mbs. its all Automatic.
MUST BE IN STOCK ROM (for those who have custom roms) and stock recovery.
(just go to XDAdevs search and you'll find it > can go to mike1986 thread)
dont forget to backup (just in case). better use Titanium Bckp Pro.

anonymous 3 December, 2012 23:22
you're right, but my phone is not rooted and on top of that I have some problems with the glass cover (it's not fixed on the screen) so I shouldn't mess around with the warranty till the problem is solved...

anonymous 18 December, 2012 19:17
Turkey HTC_001 update done :D
anonymous 19 December, 2012 04:24
Done it:
1) Download and unzip the “First-update-apps.zip” file at: http://d-h.st/XsN and copy the unzipped folders to your Download folder on your HOX.
2) Change settings to allow untrusted sources.
3) Install both apps using AppInstaller.
4) Reboot phone (takes longer than normal)
5) Check for updates.
Worked for me!
you're welcome guys :)
anonymous 19 December, 2012 09:09
But the first update apps replace the original update apps within the HOX...Doesn't that affect the phone badly or sth :/?
anonymous 19 December, 2012 09:56
Just tried the first apps method on my HOX Cid J15....Didn't work!
anonymous 19 December, 2012 10:11
Got my update today.
Pros: battery life possibly better, and Google now is cool and a lot better than the last time I tried it. New clock on lock screen and status bar very nice.
Cons: blue colouring on notifications not as nice as the green. No flash support very annoying. No need at all for camera remaining shots counter, dislike all the changes to the camera interface actually.
All in all, if you haven't got it, I really wouldn't be that worried.
anonymous 19 December, 2012 17:29
It worked for me! You need to install both files. And yeah it does replace a couple things but nothing major so it can't do any harm. Worked first time for me so seems to be all good ! JB is just overall so much nicer. The keyboard is a hell of a lot nicer and smoother, along with the rest of the interface

I was soo excited when I received it, but after downloading it and using it for a few hours, there is really nothing exciting or anything new that blows ya socks off. Google Now thinks I support Arsenal!! The thing I like most is that Wi-Fi turns on quickly and I hope battery improves. Overall, the wait was not worth it :((

don't do it! installed jellybean, now my one x refuses to act as a usb storage device when i connect to pc... pc either thinks it's a camera or that it doesn't exist.

had my update for a while now although only found out this week that usb connection to devices like xbox and usb suppoting tvs and some pcs that it does not come up as disk drive or appear at all on the other device also tried a computer running XP which it just came up as a camera even with the updated htc sync software.
i have just phoned HTC uk helpline explained and was told that jellybean opens all three options at once eg charge disk drive and something else i didnt catch, meaning that devices such tvs xboxs ps3s and some pcs would need updated software to connect via usb which i said " well thats a bit of an 'Apple' move restricting yourselves " i then was told after a little laugh to try find an app in the play store to mange the usb connectin
so if any onne knows of any app for jellybean to do what they suggested make it known

^You should ask the question on the HTC UK Facebook page, their fans are very helpful.
