A new leaked snap that allegedly shows the rumoured HTC One has appeared online, hinting at a ditched app-selection button and a radical overhaul for Sense 5.
The snap surfaced via the evleaks Twitter account, under the simple heading, 'HTC One, 2013'. The well-regarded account also pointed to a photo on Flickr with exif data that marks it as being from the HTC One.
Nothing regarding HTC's next phone is known for sure at the moment, so take this image with a pinch or two or salt. That said, it certainly looks like a plausible design for an HTC mobile, with a metal chin that's reminiscent of the beloved HTC Hero.
On the bottom of the picture you can see capacitive 'back' and 'home' buttons, but the app-switching button that's present on mobiles such as the One X is conspicuously absent.
That button usually handles multi-tasking, making it easy to call up a list of apps you have running. The picture suggests HTC may be ditching this system with its new mobiles, however, in favour of on-screen multi-tasking control.
The home screen shows what could be a new look for HTC's Sense interface, with tiled Facebook updates and a minimalist clock widget. Historically Sense has been one of the better Android skins out there, and this snap suggests that the Taiwanese firm could even be borrowing some design cues from Windows Phone in preparing a new version.
Recent rumours suggest that the HTC One is the true identity of the device code named 'M7', though only HTC knows for sure. Could this be the One for you, or are you more interested in the Samsung Galaxy S4? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but it seems someone has just taken an image of the rear of the iphone 5 and slapped a sense rumour on top of it.

Sense 5 looks beautiful! I love HTC Sense, it's much better than TouchWiz, but sadly the lack if expandable memory & removable battery will put me off HTC's. And I think the multitasking feature will be replaced by some sort of gesture control.

Why can't someone make a phone like this with a smaller screen??? Please!!!
Some of us just want a phone that is the size of ........ a phone.

I can't see this being the real HTC One. If it is... Well done HTC.

I do hope they don't call it the HTC one this is a tarnished name. They should move on and call it their development code name HTC M a far better brand. There again the CEO is a failure and so have there product design and choices up to now.
They need to sack the management, call the phone something great and price it so the mass market buys it......wait a minute was that not what they did with the successful desire?
The one to watch is the new Nexus 5 and updated 32 g sony later this year.HTC needs to make a radical change to get back into the market after buying beats audio the point when everything went wrong for them.Watch this space for a new small tablet from HTC to rival the Nexus 7!

I didn't realise the back of the iPhone 5 had speaker grills, a camera, a light sensor and a proximity sensor on it.
faddis23 12 February, 2013 12:02
** I was of course talking about a front-facing camera being on the back of the iPhone 5 **

Look shockingly simelar to the new blackberry...saying that when you see how their windows mobile efforts are very heavily styled to resemble the nokia lumia that wouldnt surprise me. All that being said this lokks great as do their windows efforts...they just need to do something to claw their market share back frkm samsung...I remember kn the desire days HTC were top dogs (in the android game at least)...they just seem to have faultered a little when faced with the galaxy range.

Apple and High Tech Computers have a 10 year pact, the more devices HTC sells the better for Apple, it makes roughly £5 to £15 per device, they'd rather see HTC succeed rather than Samsung. So they won't sue HTC, plus, the image above might be fake o_O

I always check out this website for iPhone alternatives - www.microsoftapple.com - My personal favourite is the Nokia Lumia because of the camera and speed of the operating system.

The only reason htc failed last year is because they tried to go the cheap route and used that exclusive BS. all they had to do from the start of the ONE series was release the One X+ or the same model they released for sprint. You know the one with the dedicated camera button and expandable memory, and kickstand, On all 4 carriers and watched as they dominated or broke even, or at least took 2nd place as the top smart phone maker of the year. But nooooooo they wanna release a 16 gig non expandable memory phone on at&t only, HTC you stuck your own foot in your own A$$. But im back rooting for you that you don't make the same mistake
