It was too good to last: delivery of the Google Nexus 4 has slipped again, and the Big G cautions it could take two or three weeks before you get your hands on your new Jelly Bean phone.
The oversubscribed Nexus 4 went back on sale at Google Play just last Wednesday, and already delivery times have been extended. Looks like those stock problems aren't going away for Google and the phone's manufacturer LG.
Still, the first people to get their orders in last week received their phone in less than 48 hours despite Google's initial estimates of a wait of one or two weeks. So perhaps the new extended delivery time is just precautionary and your phone will actually arrive sooner.
The Nexus 4 first went on sale in November last year, and sold out instantly. Since then it's been available only the odd day here and there. At one stage last year, Google warned that delivery could take six or seven weeks.
The erratic availability and elastic delivery times are signs of LG and Google's continuing stock woes as the Nexus 4 proves more popular than anticipated. Google claims supply has been all over the shop, while LG says Google massively underestimated potential demand. Still, even if delivery times are slipping, fingers crossed we won't see the phone sold out entirely any more.
The 8GB Nexus 4 costs £239, while the 16GB model costs £279, amazing value for a quad-core 4.7-inch smart phone with the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software. You can buy two of each at a time.
Hit play on our video below to see why we awarded the Nexus 4 four stars -- and a coveted CNET Editors' Choice Award:
Have you bagged a Nexus 4? Is this a sign of more stock problems to come? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.

I bought one Jan. 29th and a friend of mine bought it the day after, he made the exact same purchase (Nexus 4 16g + Bumber) and we live on the same address, even so he received his phone within 48 hours but I am still waiting for my product to show up.

Stop complaining, at least your play store has them!! They went out of stock again within hours in Australia with "no inventory" we can't even back order them and yet some countries are still ordering the exact same phone which is still available. I'd gladly wait a few weeks if it meant that I knew it would be on the way soon!
Why can't all countries just use the same stock instead of having had someone say "hmmm lets give this many to Australia, we'll give this many to France and the US can have this many!"
Obviously they aren't selling out as fast in some countreies so those phones should be made available for other countries to purchase.

I ordered mine on Wednesday and got it today, a few hours BEFORE I got notification it had been shipped... Shipping time at ordering was 1-2 weeks so I wouldn't pay to much attention to that.

I ordered my device on Saturday and noticed a page on the google site "when to expect your delivery", I can't find it now but I'm sure it'll be there somewhere.
Anyway, if your reciept says "estimated shipping" expect a couple of weeks, if it's saying "estimated delivery", it should be with you in days.
I'm surprised cnet missed this, well, actually I'm not surprised at all.
I'm also from Nottingham, UK.

Hey guys I ordered the 8gb on 29 of January, i got a shipping notification 5 days later. I imagine there is a shortage with the 8gb model and will taker longer to ship than 16gb. If your original shipping estimate said 1-2 weeks, give it at least 1 week before contacting Google for shipping updates.

to all wwho have it
what is your recommendation? can we compare it with S3
anonymous 5 February, 2013 06:27
Ordered Sunday. Shipping notice today, it's at a depot 8 miles away
anonymous 5 February, 2013 08:58
Ordered on Sunday evening, being delivered today ( Tuesday) You just can't beat that
anonymous 5 February, 2013 11:28
Mine arrived before google told me it had shipped!
Given the price crash on ebay, where they were going for a £100 premium, some of them are now cheaper than the google play store. I'd say the supply problems are over.

I have ordered Nexus 16 gb on Feb 7 , the estimated shipment shows Feb 27.
Is this a realistic date or i can expect it a bit early ??
anonymous 12 February, 2013 19:45
