Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 Android 4.2 update begins

The very latest version of Android -- that's Android 4.2 Jelly Bean -- is now landing on older Nexus devices, according to reports.

Commenters on CNET, Twitter and Google+ have said that the update is landing on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the 4.7-inch smart phone we've been fawning over since its November 2011 debut.

The Nexus 7 is also being anointed with an over the air update, according to Android Police and commenters on our very own Facebook wall. We haven't spied the spangly new software arriving on our in-office Nexus 7, but if you've seen it popping up on yours, drop us a note in the comments or on Facebook.

Android 4.2 is already up and running on the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 -- the latest Google-own-brand devices to hit shop shelves. The Nexus 4 is an extremely desirable gadget, thanks to a 4.7-inch display with a shockingly high pixel count, as well as a quad-core processor and a how-low-can-you-go £239 price tag.

Good luck getting your mitts on one though, as the Nexus 4 has already sold out from Google Play, which seems to be the only place where you can snap it up at that bargain price. The powerful Nexus 10 tablet is sold out as well.

Google says on both product pages, "We are out of inventory. Please check back soon."

Android 4.2 brings a slew of seductive new software treats, including Photo Sphere, which lets you take a Street View-style 360-degree snap of your surroundings.

4.2 on my nexus 7 arrived at 3am this morning! everything seems a little more fluid than before, although the new lock screen feature is pretty pointless on the nexus 7...

I forced mine to get Android 4.2 by clearing the Google Services Framework app and then manually checking for updates!

I tried clearing Google Services Framework on my Nexus 7 but it didn't help :( It has worked before though.
How-to: Settings -> Apps -> All -> Google Services Framework -> Clear data -> Now, go to the "Check now" button and click it a few times.

Nexus 7 updated as of this morning but no update as yet to my GNex. Clearing Services Framework hasn't helped either. Not had chance to have a play yet.

Are you guys from the UK?

In the UK, I saw the update on mine this morning and had updated by 9am.

Quite like the users feature, though not quite sure how I can make it work for me as I've got loads of apps already installed under my gmail account. I'd like my more junior family members to be able to get access to things like Minecraft etc, but if I create a new users account I either have to set it up with a duplicate of my email details (and therefore lose the security I've gained by having a separate account) or create a new account where I'd have to purchase the apps afresh. Had this been on therere in the first place, I wouldn't have had this dilemma.

I checked at 6pm ish today (14th November) but got it around 2 hours later. So far, brilliant. For people like myself who use their Nexus 7 for career related stuff and are. Lost without Google Calendar the lock screen widgets are great. Would love to a widget for my task list app soon too.

Not sure what else is new. My tablet feels rapid though, I'm actually making lots. Of uncharacteristic typing errors as I'm struggling to adjust to the new level of responsiveness!

Arrived on my galaxy nexus yesterday. The bluetooth signal level indicator in the car has vanished. I had to have a speaker attached to the dock in the car so I could hear the speed camera warnings, as we all know, the speaker is woefully inadequate, but now the output from the dock lasts for a fraction of a second and then reverts to bluetooth. Can't get it to output on any setting except when the car is off and bluetooth disconnected.
Brilliant google thanks for nothing.
