How much will 4G cost? I'm glad you ask, phone fans, because EE has revealed its prices for 4G phone contracts and phones. Read on to find out how much a speeded-up Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, HTC One XL or iPhone 5 will cost, and what nifty bonuses you can bag on top.
The first 4G network in the UK launches next week, courtesy of EE (the network formed by the merger of Orange and T-Mobile). Orange and T-Mobile still exist, but if you want next-generation data speeds on your phone you need to sign up for a new contract from EE.
What are the phone deals?
EE says 4G contracts are £5 dearer per month than the equivalent 3G contract. All 4G deals come with unlimited calls and texts -- you just choose the amount of data you want, and pay accordingly.
Phone deals start at £36 for 500MB. After that you can get 1GB for £41, 3GB for £46, or 5GB for £51. The maximum amount of data available is 8GB, for £56 per month.
Contracts at those prices are all two years long. If you just want to sign up for a year, just add £10 to each tariff: so 12-month deals start at £46 for 500MB, and go up to 1GB for £51, 3GB for £56, or 5GB for £61. The maximum 8GB deal is £66 per month for 12 months.
SIM-only deals will begin on 9 November and will start at £21 per month. If you already own a phone or want to buy the phone separately -- often cheaper in the long run -- a SIM-only deal runs 12 months and also includes unlimited calls and texts.
If you're getting phones for your small business, plans start at £35 per month for 1GB of data and go up to £50 per month for 16GB. That data can be shared among more than one person.
How much do the phones cost?
The first phones in the EE 4G line-up are the HTC One XL, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and Huawei Ascend P1 LTE, with the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 to follow.
The data deal you choose also dictates the amount you have to pay for the phone you want. The cheapest 500MB tariff sees you pay £150 for the HTC One XL or Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE, but subsequent data deals drop the price to £50 or £30.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE starts at £180 but goes down to £30 on the most expensive deal. Meanwhile the bargain option is the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE: £20 on the cheapest monthly tariff, and a very charitable zero pounds on the others.
The iPhone 5 is the priciest of the 4G range, starting at £180 for the 16GB model on the cheapest tariff, dropping to £110, £50, £30, or finally £20 on the highest tariff.
The 32GB model starts at £270 and the 64GB version at £380. While you can net a 32GB iPhone for just £30 if you fork out for the highest monthly contract, a 64GB iPhone will set you back at least £140.
Dongle deals for 4G for your laptop start at £16 for 2GB. But the good news is that tethering is included in your phone contract, so as long as you get enough data you can turbo-boost your tablet or laptop with 4G magic too.
What if I go over my data limit?
If you chew through more data than you expected, you'll get a warning message as you near your limit with the option to buy more. A bite size 50MB more Internet cost £3, 500MB costs £6, an extra 2GB costs £15 and 4GB costs £20.
What extras do I get?
Sign a 4G contract, and you'll be able to use BT Wi-Fi hotspots when you're out and about through an EE app -- handy for avoiding going over your tariff's data limit.
If you pay £41 or more you can also choose a free add-on each month: live TV, music or gaming. Each add-on gives you access to one service, and any TV viewing, music streaming or gaming you do comes out of your data allowance.
The TV service boasts 19 channels, including Channel 4 and Eurosport. The music service is Deezer, which allows you to stream or download tracks. The gaming add-on lets you download and keep two games per month.
You can change which add-on you want each month, and if you want more than one add-on, you can pay extra.
EE also has roaming deals lined up that will let you take your minutes, texts and data allowance on holiday with you, for a fee.
What's EE Film all about?
EE has also announced a new film service. Every month you can pick any film to watch for free from the EE movie catalogue -- up to the end of February -- and you also get a free two-for-one cinema ticket every Wednesday. Just like Orange Wednesday!
Are there any new features on the 4G phones?
EE is also offering a couple of new features, which seem to have been created based solely on whether they rhyme. Clone Phone backs up and restores lost phones, while Loan Phone lends you a replacement phone if yours needs to be sent off for repairs.
Clone Phone also offers an online Find My iPhone-style map to track down errant blowers if you pay £4 per month, and insurance if you pay £6 per month.
Other rhyming features will no doubt be added later, including Groan Phone -- which texts you a bad pun each day, Throne Phone -- which uses less power when you're on the loo, and Rolling Stones Phone -- which ensures your phone will keep working forever even when it's a bit embarrassing and you wish it would just stop.
Will I actually get 4G where I live?
On 30 October, 4G launches in 10 cities: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, and Sheffield.
After those initial lucky cities, 4G comes next to Belfast, Derby, Hull, Newcastle and Nottingham. Next year coverage will widen to Cornwall, Cumbria and Northern Ireland.
I'm sold -- how do I switch?
If you're on Orange or T-Mobile and you just bought an iPhone 5 -- or any 4G-ready phone -- you can switch for free. Just choose a new EE contract from the deals above and hey presto!
If you signed up to Orange or T-Mobile in the last six months and you bought a 3G version of one of the phones in the 4G line-up -- including the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone -- you can swap it for the 4G version for £100 and a new 4G contract. You do have to give back the old phone though.
If you're on Orange and T-Mobile and your contract has longer than six months to run, you can buy your way out by paying the remainder -- what you would have paid over the full term of your contract -- but minus a 33 per cent discount.
And if you're not on Orange or T-Mobile? Hard luck sunshine: you have to wait until your current contract with your network runs out so you can change networks. Or you can wait until the other networks launch their own 4G services, which could be next year if you're lucky.
Are you planning to switch to 4G? What do you think of the prices, deals and extras? Which phone is the biggest bargain? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.

HAVE THEY LOST THERE MIND WITH THAT PRICE ONLY THE STUPID WILL MOVE TO 4G IM FINE WITH MY 3G LOOOL EE HAVE LOST THERE MIND WITH THEM PRICE IN THIS RECESSION TO BE HONEST I SAY NOTHING SHOULD EVEN GO OVER £.25 A 24 MONTH CONTRACT..
Ichi_Bear 23 October, 2012 02:45
I agree with the above comment. I'm due for a free upgrade next month and my 24 month contract ends in December with Orange. I don't think I'll be signing up for a 4G EE contract. Unless they can offer me a discount. ;-)
anonymous 23 October, 2012 02:57
What the bleep is the point of having a superfast 4G connection if you can't actually use it? 500MB is barely enough to watch a half hour HD video or to dowload a few podcasts. And charging £3 for an extra 50MB sounds like we are still in 2003. This is so disappointing. I had held off on my next phone for ages to see what the 4G tariffs would be like but this is just ridiculous.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 03:19
Insane tariff table. I would sign up for advanced 3G network. Good bye 4G for the next 2 years.
Leszcz 23 October, 2012 07:01
God that's so expensive. I really hope that when the other mobile networks join they will keep it at the same price as current deals, or keep the 3g options there? I don't know if that's possible though... I'd choose my unlimited 3g from Three over any of those 4G tarrifs any day.
damien2501 23 October, 2012 07:36
Stupid prices. Will someone please tell me what's wrong with 3G? I have never had a problem with it being too slow. The only problem I've had I'd that it uses quite a bit of battery, I dread to think how much 4g uses. Rip off! EE suck frigging ripoff merchants
jopov123 23 October, 2012 07:45
I will need more convincing that it's worth it . My current 3g under T-mobile is very fast anyway and I rarely get any slowdowns. In a recession I doubt a lot of people want to pay £50-60+ a month and unless your under 25 the 'free' cinema tickets mean nowt. I agree with others that £25 a month is max spend for most of us.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 07:46
I'll stick with my existing unlimited 3G deal on T- Mobile. I'd rather have unlimited data at 3G speeds than limited data at 4G speeds. How quick would you blow through 500mb at 4G speeds anyway? What a joke ......
anonymous 23 October, 2012 08:13
Ridiculous data allowances for the money. No way i will bother for that money, expensive luxury that is not really needed.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 08:13
I was going to wait til today to get my Galaxy Note 2 on EE but in anticipation of 4G nationwide rollout being patchy and EE prices for 4G being high, took the plunge and got a 3G-only Note 2 with all you can eat web use on 3. If I had waited for this I would have been severely disappointed.
4G can wait at these prices
David Pert 23 October, 2012 08:36
500mb and 1mb tariffs on 4G??? That's just stupid. Even 3GB on 4G isn't much for a whole month (if you want to make use of it). So the cost of using 4G the way they'd like you to: £51 a month AND a 2 year contract. I can't see me dropping my £36 a month, 18 month contract for that.
Well done EE. Sterling work.
AppleRocks16 23 October, 2012 08:36
When I read the tariff tables for prices, I was shocked. I don't know how they can charge you a whopping amount of money for a measly 500MB for nearly £40! It's appalling. 4G is definitely a no go for me at the moment since that pricing is appalling. I don't see anything wrong with 3G and I usually get very good connection over the cellular network.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:07
I will stick with 3. They have been outstanding. Best network for All you can eat data at affordable price.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:25
good news for three n other providers...with this tariff no 1 wud likely 2 switch 2 EE its a rip off!!!!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:26
Was seriously considering switching to EE as my contracts up, bit with those prices and data limits they can forget it!
Hope other networks offer better deals when the rollout starts in earnest.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:26
Agree with everyone here. Stupid tarrifs, 4g is only useful with an unlimited data allowance. Had waited until now to know the prices but just placed my order for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on an unlimited data allowance for £36 a month, with no upfront cost.....
EE: right chaps, take aim... FIRE!! Good shot!... Oh right, appear to have hit our foot there
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:29
So..... I can send my S3 back which i paid towards, pay £100 for the pleasure of the same phone but with 4G, get tied into a new 2 year contract, pay £10 more per month and only get 500mb of data where i get unlimited data now. Sounds like a great deal to me, where do i sign up!. On a more serious note, i will be sticking to my full Monty Plan and my 3G S3. EE are ripping people off when what they should be doing whilst they have an advantage over the other networks is offering a very competetive price and steal customers from other networks. Vodafone and O2 must be laughing theirn socks off, they have nothing to worry about and i bet their prices are competative when they launch 4G! I will be leaving EE and switching BB from Orange when i can. BIG FAIL EE!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:39
Ive just signed a 41 pound a month contract for the note 2 and your telling me theyre not signing me over for free...absolute joke,
anonymous 23 October, 2012 09:42
Lol I'm not surprised by these tariffs it's orange for gods sake, they have been a rip off from day one, as soon as my contracts up I'll be moving to a different network. There loyalty to customers is horrific, three's signal has gotten greater so it looks as if ill be changing to them with unlimited data packs available, unless 4g gets cheaper I'm one customer that won't be changing.
joebhoy 23 October, 2012 09:50
Do they not realize that April fools day is in April ?
They really f@$*ed up on this one !
With the amount of people waiting on this announcement they could have cleaned up and made a killing by getting everyone tied up first !
Now they'll just be cleaning the s¥¿t off their faces !!
CaptainPicard 23 October, 2012 10:01
Nice to see everyone agreeing on something! I used 500MB in 2 days browsing the web on my HTC 1X, higher end phones whether 3G or 4G are nothing without unlimited data. It'll be interesting to see what the Three Network has lined up, hopefully they will have unlimited 4G data for £34, I couldn't care less about minutes and texts any more, and they decrease their prices for 3G phones.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:04
WHAT A TOTAL RIP OFF!!!
I have 1GB 3G per month on 02 with my iphone 5 and it is perfectly fast (usually about 5mbps speed). It doesn't cost me anything extra either and I never go over my allowance.
When you are out and about what would you need to do that requires 4G?
Most people just surf the Internet, play games and check Facebook or twitter of which 3G speeds are perfectly adequate. If you needed to download a whole film etc then that would be the only reason but it would eat your data allowance up almost immediately.
4G is pretty pointless at the moment, is hardly available anywhere and costs way too much.
Stick with 3G for the time being until the price significantly drops!!!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:11
Everything Wrong Everywhere. Will other networks reduce 3G tariffs to keep customers until they have 4G? Doubt it. Or continue overcharging then offer a cheaper and just as useless alternative? Probably. Right now I'm abroad and getting unlimited data on 3G for £12/month and free WiFi at 8Mb download on a local SIM. We are already getting ripped off in the UK, these tariffs and limits are ridiculous.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:15
The dongle is the only worthwhile tarrif
samuelc 23 October, 2012 10:19
Four words... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!
£56 for only 8GB, for two years? What exactly is the point in having such a superfast connection if you can barely download anything on it? This is an absolute joke. I had been so very much looking forward to this, but quite frankly this is a massive punch in the face to the consumer, prices like this are in no way reasonable and there is no way I'd be buying 4g at this price.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:29
4G, surely a super fast connection would only be for people with newer fast smartphones who want to be downloading and streaming content on the go. I have spotify and use BBC iplayer and sky go to mention just a few media apps and I need an unlimited, or very large, data plan. These prices are just way to high. You can get an S3 with 1Gb for £28.50 a month on Orange and the phone is free. That is £350 cheaper over the contract. Now I want 4G but not that much!!!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:34
"I used 500MB in 2 days browsing the web on my HTC 1X"
I used that in 13 Minutes on my HTC One S!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:35
"I used 500MB in 2 days browsing the web on my HTC 1X"
I used that in 13 Minutes on my HTC One S!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 10:57
500Mb, what a joke!!!!
4G is faster than my ADSL line at home but what's the point of a super fast mobile Internet if you can't stream music, use Skype, or watch videos without running out in a day or so? Even 8Gb would probably not be enough once you start streaming.
Unfortunately I'll have to stick to my current 3G contract and wait until the competitor networks start offering 4G next year. Hopefully one of them will be more reasonable.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 11:09
Have been with 3 for 2 months and im glad I did sign up instead of waiting for EE. All I can eat data for £31 a month is a steal compared with the prices for 4G. I use between 1GB - 3GB of data each day.
Nadir El-Edroos 23 October, 2012 12:00
Guys, they are set these prices for the early adopters. Once they take the money from them, watch out for special Christmas and NY deals.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 12:02
Pffttt....what a rip off. To be fair I was expecting something like this. Super-high cost and a pitiful data allowance.
I suppose as people use calls and texts less and data more, this sort of move is inevitable. I hope the unlimited data providers can hold out over the next few years!
I'll be sticking with my £10 unlimited data giffgaff sim. Best deal out there! (Even though it's increasing to £12 soon, but still!)

Ryan Simmons 23 October, 2012 12:37
>Launch UK's first LTE network
>Focus the contacts on texts and minutes
What are they doing? No one cares about unlimited texts and minutes (I could survive on 200 of each /month), but they do about the data allowance, so why offer such low data on a network that is -all about- the speed of the internet connection? It was pretty predictable that their tariffs were going to be high, but I'm still disappointed. All I can do now is hope they'll offer the Lumia 920 on a 3G contract (unlikely though).
anonymous 23 October, 2012 12:56
Not too bad for me. Signed up a month ago to Orange for an iphone 5 £46 a month with 3GB data and I can switch over with no change other than the downloads will be faster when I'm in town.
Can't wait to flick the LTE switch on in my settings. 4G here I come!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 13:09
Everything Everywhere - with massive restrictions! What a bogus deal. Fringing on false advertising with a network name like that and tariffs like this - that there is not an unlimited option is frankly stupid. Three still offer the best contracts by far and 3g is good enough for anyone whilst 4g costs this much.
peterkinxl5 23 October, 2012 13:19
I for one will NOT be signing up for this 4G service. First-Price £56 for 8GB when a Three 3G tarrif can be purchased for £35 with UNLIMITED DATA is a rip off. Second that 8GB is for precisely that 8GB irrespective as to whether it is downloaded via Everything Everywhere's 4G network or not. Third if 4G customers start downloading movies as the offer encourages then that 8GB will go very very quickly indeed. And last but not least I thing their 4G offering will be very restrictive in coverage terms. For all those thinking about this, 4G does nothing new, it only works faster. And even that is subject to a load of issues.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 13:32
Somethings some places for a small amount of time until your data cap is hit. I think the funniest prices are for roaming. £280 for zone B!!! You may as well buy a phone out there with a contract and you'd effectively get 20 months free!!! People will still have to have it.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 13:36
Just got my new iphone 5 on my upgrade 41iphone extra which is fine ....... but if i switch to the 4G Tarriff i will get less data allowance as at the moment i get 2GB a month now uuuuummmmmm wheres the sense in that thats like going back to my old tariff when i was paying more for less and with the insurance on my phone i am paying £53 in total.
Those prices are taking the ****** !!!! not happy
anonymous 23 October, 2012 13:46
Crazy prices,i use giff gaff.£10 a month for 250 minutes talktime, unlimited texts and unlimited internet all for ten quid, get your sim here if you like, http://giffgaff.com/orders/affiliate/glennbuck
Ruffus Stone 23 October, 2012 14:01
Check out the additional cost of the Phones.
A 1GB tariff on an S3 LTE or One XL will cost £41pm + £50 for the phone.
A 1GB tariff on an iPhone 5 16GB will cost £41pm + £110 for the phone.
A 1GB tariff on a Note 2 LTE will cost £41pm + £140 for the phone.
God help anyone who uses these phones abroad on the roaming tariffs EE tariffs!
.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 14:05
Really can't see why people are so surprised at the cost. They have 4G exclusivity in the UK till 2013 at the earliest, what did you fools think they'd do? Drop the prices?!
Personally, paying an extra fiver a month makes perfect business sense. If people really want and need 4G then they should pay for it, end of. If you can't afford it, don't moan about it.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 14:13
Eh..... £5 more than current tariffs? That would mean that I should be able to get an unlimited 4G tariff for £46 then, because I'm currently paying £41 for an unlimited everything 3.5G tariff.
So if that was the case then you would be earning an extra £100 from me for upgrading my Galaxy S3 into a 4G one and would've also earned more money from me by putting me in a new 2 year contract.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be £5 extra, £56 for a greatly reduced data allowance of 8GB.
I shall patiently wait a few years, until the CEO's & various others who will start using this tariff meet most of the cost of building this 4G infrastructure through their line rental. Then when the prices then drop I will hopefully be able to get a 4G Full Money Max contract for around £60?
I can't see this pricing structure fitting in with my life at the moment, especially as I use about 2GB a day. I just hope that you continue to let people have the great speeds on 3.5G that we've all been enjoying [and which should be very achieve on the 3.5G network anyway] by using the Everything Everywhere APN ;)
anonymous 23 October, 2012 14:16
Was looking very much to jump on the 4G bandwagon but after checking the prices...
If the unlimited calls includes 08 numbers Im happy to pay but otherwise, forget it.
Still a rip off!
anonymous 23 October, 2012 14:17
hahahaha, this is a joke.....right? based on my avg data use of between 2-3G a month I would have to go on the £31 a month sim only plan. I'm currently paying £20 for unlimited data (which I think is too much and i'm going to switch to the three network), thats £11 extra a month, £132 extra a year! Is EE 4g worth that? EE you have missed a great op to get a massive increase in your customer base before other networks bring 4g to the market. The other networks will get it so why not take advantage of the fact that your the only one with it and get as many people on 24month contracts and 1 year sim only plans. The other networks must be laughing at you, I know I am, and Ofcom, is this your idea of bringing 4g to the uk? surely there most of been guide lines in regards to giving EE this massive advantage? I'll get of my soap box now.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 14:24
you will have to do better than that EE. count me out. a total joke. i'm sure some mug will pay for it. i wont be one of them. suddenly 3G doesnt sound so bad
anonymous 23 October, 2012 16:20
What a joke. What happened to the days when all contracts had unlimited data.?
anonymous 23 October, 2012 16:28
I think 4g will be s@#$ anyway do you guys remember when 3g was gonna be the dogs bo laxrapid and would turn water in to wine, well it never happened. We only get to use about half the power of 3g because the networks are choking in busy areas so screw EE im sticking tp sim only for now.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 16:31
Shame on EE!!!!!! What a rip off, I don't think anyone with the right mind will get the 4G, All they are doing to us is to keep the 3g for ever.
peterkinxl5 23 October, 2012 18:13
On reflection EE have shot themselves in the foot. They could have took their most expensive tariff the Panther 61 raised the cost to £70 per month and given everybody a Three style unlimited data package which would of course also include tethering. I think despite being over double what Three charge there would have been takers. 8GB is NOTHING on a product like a Galaxy Note 2.
anonymous 23 October, 2012 18:19
If you need 4G its worth it. If you don't, it's not. Simple. How many people actually sign up for the home broadband max package with BT or Virgin? You pay extra for that right?
If you're prepared to pay for 16mb/s upload speeds then these plans are ideal. I get that the data allowances could be more generous but if you're satisfied with 3G and you don't have a requirement for faster speeds, then stick with what you have!
Me - I'm switching to EE.
damien2501 23 October, 2012 19:30
They should change the name to NN nothing nowhere. Cos that's gonna describe how many people are gone sign up for this.
Ultraman1966 23 October, 2012 19:53
Well done, you've got a Ferrari Enzo with a 5 litre fuel tank. Get your twitter updates instantly! :D
anonymous 23 October, 2012 20:07
So, i was going to get the GS3 on EE but with this ridiculous pricing released I'm going the get it on T-Mobile with the Full Monty Plan and have unlimited data, texts and 2k mins, 3 days before EE launches. The EE plans are less than useless.
anonymous 24 October, 2012 07:27
Absolutely agree with all comments. Have been waiting ages for 4G but looks like its going to be a much longer wait. Shame!! I have been using Sim only for last 3 years and would have instantly switched to a 24 month contract if pricing was right.
anonymous 24 October, 2012 12:23
Absolute jokers... Im currently on £15 a month with EE (T-mobile) for all you can eat data and normally get about 3Mb/s data over HSDPA+. Which is fast enough for me.
anonymous 25 October, 2012 00:25
not totally sure what EE is thinking but i doubt many will switch to 4G when people have recently started a new iphone contract for example where you get unlimited mins and text and whole load more data for a cheaper amount.
i just upgraded iphone 5 with orange and get unlimited text and mins and 2gig of data, and as i'm under 24, unlimited text/calls to orange and tmobile customers and a extra gig of data totalling 3 gig all for £41 a month.
For £41 a month with EEi only get 1 gig of data which i pathetic!! why say if you switch over everything stays the same when it clearly doesn't!!!!!!!!!!
anonymous 26 October, 2012 00:41
They can keep their 4g - I for one wont pay it! rubbish data allowance and a tied deal for 2 years - I hope that they go bust - GIFF GAFF AND 3 BEST DEALS OUT THERE- VIRGIN - VODA AND ALL THE OTHER RIPS LIKE ORANGE CAN SWIVEL....I used to gewt 20 mins for a fiver ofrfr voda and virgin - GO BUST - YOU DESERVE IT.
anonymous 26 October, 2012 08:41
Big attemp on big rip off. Greedy greedy greedy....
anonymous 30 October, 2012 04:58
I've been with T-Mobile since yesterday.
I lost my iphone 4 a month ago and called T-Mobile to get my phone/sim blocked instead the adviser sold me an upgrade.
So once he did that put me hold and in the end I had to cut the phone off.
I rung customer service again.
Told them what happened and eventually got my phone blocked, then was told it will cost me £15 for a replacement phone sim.
As to end an already ended contract I needed 30 day notice.
Told them I don't want it as I knew £15 top up would be better then getting a replacement.
Told to call my local T-mobile to find when the iphone 5 be in stock, told in 10 days.
Ten day later called, told I have to put my name on a waiting list & 70 people had already registered.
In the end I choose three they are good, EE think they own the phone market.
Now I've read this I'm so happy I didn't go for T-Mobile plus I was a regular customer.
It would of had my 3rd upgrade already been with them 5 year.
They treat their long term customer like sh.t.

I've been with T-Mobile since yesterday.
I lost my iphone 4 a month ago and called T-Mobile to get my phone/sim blocked instead the adviser sold me an upgrade.

No 4G 'Full Monty' then.
EE4G is 3G plus £5. ROFLMAO.
3 must be still laughing their arses off after a week.

@anonymous...why have you posted the same message FOUR TIMES?

From around 22nd, 23rd October 3G coverage on the T-Mobile network has been either reduced or withdrawn altogether leaving most users with 2G. With a download speed of 40kbp/s outside central Belfast you will have all or nothing on EE 4G. Can't understand this tactic but I know a lot of people on T-Mobile outside Belfast will be jumping ship asap. EE has a poor reputation here before it has even changed the network name on the phones.

This pricing is a complete joke. I bought my iPhone 5 sim free and got a contract with 3, 1 month rolling, 3000 texts, 200 mins and all-you-can-eat data for JUST £12.90 A MONTH!!!!!! I was really looking forward to moving to EE in the next year, but if the prices stay this way I'd be glad to stay with 3 as I regularly achieve download speeds of 8-10 Mb/s with HSPA+ anyway! So disappointing, especially considering the UK is miles behind the rest of the world in the mobile internet market. I just hope that when 3 is allowed to operate on the 1800MHz spectrum they offer a much more competitive price for 4G. I don't think any of the other networks have anything to worry about really.

Lol. I'm paying £6.90/month for 200 mins, 5000 texts and 500 mbs. And yet, I have never used up the data every single month!

There probably isn't anyone amongst us that agrees with EE's extortionate pricing structure and meagre allowance.
By being the first network provider to offer 4G in the UK they think we are all gullible and will surrender to their hard marketing campaign and sign-up without any second thought.
How WRONG they are!
As far as I'm concerned they've lost out on a humongous opportunity.
If they got their calculations correct I'm certain there would have been a steady and gradual defection rate over to them.
What annoys me the most is that you cannot turn a street corner without seeing one of their posters!
If you go to "Elephant & Castle " roundabout (Newington Butts) there is a 12 storey (or bigger?) advertising banner draping the side of a block of flats for EE.
Then you have the Kevin Bacon TV ad.
HOW MUCH HAS ALL THIS ADVERTISING COST THEM?
Wouldn't it of made sense to spend less on advertising and put it back to reduce the cost of the tariff?
Sadly we will have to wait till Summer 2013 before the likes of O2, Three and Vodafone come on board.
Then there will be some serious competition.
When the companies start to bite at each others' neck then and only then will we as consumers start to reap the rewards.
So be patient and wait it out.
Be content with 3G and Wi-Fi for another year at least for now.................

Dear Readers,
Thanks to Rich Trenholm for negotiating his way through the bewildering "price plans" and "tariffs" offered by companies like T-Mobile and Orange. They like to confuse rather than simplify. I'm also pleased to see most (if not all) customers, who commented here, are in agreement that the new EE price plans are too expensive for consumers.
The fact is T-Mobile is only "EE" when it suits them. T-Mobile sold me a new phone, tied me into another two year contract and reduced my meagre "data allowance" to 750MB. Lo and behold, I discover that my lovely new HTC One S is not "4G ready". I just don't think I'm treated fairly... And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I'd like to upgrade to a 4G Ready Phone, but the EE Store Rep decided not to mention the phone he sold was only suitable for 3G reception. He also neglected to mention my data allowance would be cut, although I'm paying the same price for the service as I did last year.
T-Mobile just don't care if they retain customers or not. These high-priced EE plans are part of that hard-headed, uncaring approach. I hope no-one takes up EE plans - I certainly will not be doing so. Could Three Network give me a better deal? (Feedback welcomed).
Kind Regards, Neil DB
