Crave gets excited about mobile phones at CES

Shortly after we come back from the Christmas holidays, Crave is heading off to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and we're especially looking forward to checking out some of the hottest mobile phones of next year.

So far we've heard about Motorola's new device, the Rokr E6 (pictured), which features a large colour touchscreen, an MP3 player, an FM radio, an expandable memory card slot and a 3.5mm jack so you can use your own headphones.

Then there's Nokia's new all-in-one beast, the N95, which features a 5-megapixel camera, an FM radio, an MP3 player, a 3.5mm jack, Wi-Fi and HSDPA connectivity and a two-way sliding mechanism that gives you access to dedicated media keys or the keypad.

Of course, it wouldn't be the almighty CES without the rumour mill that surrounds it. We're hoping to find out more about Sony Ericsson's Ai sleek and sexy concept phone, with touchkeys on the front and a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back. It's also rumoured to have a 2GB hard drive, but we think it's unlikely we'll see this beauty in the flesh in Vegas.

Finally there's the most hyped phone of the year, Apple's 'iPhone'. Apple won't be attending the event of course, they'll be far to busy at Macworld in San Francisco. Whether or not there'll be any more information about this at CES is unclear. Indeed, we don't know whether this phone is real or not (but it certainly won't be called the iPhone), but where there are tech journalists there are rumours and with so many of us running around Las Vegas somebody is sure to walk out into the desert and catch a glimpse of Apple's unidentified phoning object. -AL
