RIM's first phone to arrive running the new BlackBerry 10 operating system has been spied in new leaked photos, showing off a large touchscreen and a curvy design.
Codenamed BlackBerry London, the new pictures of this upcoming mobile come from Italian site BlackBerryItalia, via Pocketnow, and tell us something of what we can expect from RIM's last-gasp attempt to win back the smart phone crown.
The image lends credibility to another BlackBerry London image that leaked way back in February, suggesting that RIM has had this phone's design up its suit sleeve for a long time. The London will have an impressively high 768x1,280-pixel resolution, but subsequent touchscreen-only BB10 phones will all have 720x1,280-pixel screens, to help app developers.
BlackBerry 10 is the next BlackBerry operating system and it introduces new features including gestures, a swanky on-screen keyboard and some intriguing camera features. Unfortunately, the software is now well behind schedule following several delays, and is currently due to launch early next year.
The London will be the first phone to sport the new operating system, alongside a Qwerty option dubbed the Nevada. Thanks to a leaked snap of RIM's 2013 schemes, we know that a 4G version of the PlayBook tablet is due before Christmas this year, and that another -- probably larger -- 'Blackforest' tablet will follow in autumn 2013.
RIM reckons its upcoming software will trounce iOS and Android rivals -- a tall order when it's up against heavyweights like the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Nokia Lumia 920. Can it possibly win? Tell me in the comments or over on our Facebook wall.

While it does look similar to the iPhone 5, this device does look like the image leaked way back in January. They've had the design for a while. So I wouldn't say it copied the iPhone.

RIM should make Android and Windows phone as well as continuing its own software division. It makes business sense to diversify ones company. Most importantly, they got to remember include its messaging services on all products they release, the Playbook would have been a success if it had Blackberry's messaging services.

I cant wait personally. People who come on here and make the same lame RIP RIM jabs are doing this based on what?
720p screens have been out for some time now, and are still being predicted in future devices for HTC, LG and Samsung.
RIM has done all the moves in terms of direction and where they want to be…
They want to have the worlds best “secure” devices for one crowd, and at the same time offer the smoothest OS,apps and gesture features/camera specs/overall high end features(bling) for another crowd in 1 phone…They will be able to do what no other phone can…the pentagon would never use android/ios, but will use BB10 cause of security…major corporations over the world that have been switching to ios have made big mistakes in making themselves vulnerable in terms of security in the name of being “cool”…BB10 will give them that “cool” along with security…
I for one has an S3 currently, and will be switching back to BB10 when it comes out for one reason…its the best communication device on the planet hands down…i dont care about games / apps/ gestures (all of which BB10 will have) so as long as it has some bling i will be a happy camper….very happy
