Best UK iPad 3G tariffs: Vodafone, Orange and O2 compared

iPad

The battle for your iPad 3G data dosh has hotted up to a three-horse race, with Vodafone joining Orange and O2 with two monthly tariffs. There's no such thing as a coalition in the fight for your hard-earned money, so we've broken down the bargains for you.

Whether you need to cut costs with a £2 tariff or surf the night away with 10GB, the table above should help plant your decision tree.

The Orange plans that include Wi-Fi give you unlimited browsing at BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots, while O2's plans include access to Wi-Fi hotspots run by both BT Openzone and The Cloud.

Also note that Orange's 5p pay as you go tariff has a maximum charge of £40 a month.

Vodafone's deals are perhaps fractionally worse, with no bulk discount for its 5GB tariff over its competitors' 3GB versions, and no included Wi-Fi -- but its huge network is usually one of the most reliable, both at home and internationally.

Vodafone is also offering roaming deals for using your iPad 3G abroad, starting at £9.99 per day for up to 50MB of data.

All three networks will be giving away free micro SIMs -- that's the half-sized SIM card that fits the iPad.
