It looks like BlackBerry is still down for users around the world -- on the day Apple releases iMessage, Apple's rival messaging service. Cut off from BlackBerry Messenger, BBM addicts are descending into madness, their only contact with the outside world being angry tweets, Facebook updates and comments on this very site.
iMessage is built in to iOS 5, the software update that will land on iPhones and iPads today. Like BlackBerry Messenger, iMessage lets you send free messages to friends and family, and with BlackBerry currently in the bad books it could be the incentive for BBers to jump ship to Apple, especially with the iPhone 4S arriving on Friday.
Samsung and Nokia are also unveiling rival services to BBM, which is insanely popular among the youth of today. Hello, youth of today!
Many irate BBers are calling for BlackBerry maker Research in Motion to refund fees for the missing service. It's now been two days since problems with email, BBM and Internet access were first reported.
RIM's official Twitter account tweeted during the night, "Message delays were caused by a core switch failure in RIM's infrastructure. Now being resolved. Sorry for inconvenience."
Reports suggest the failure happened in Slough, of all places, where redundancy systems failed. The effects have been felt as far afield as Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Maybe someone in Slough should pop down to Maplin and pick up some spare switches.
Many users are vexed by the lack of communication from RIM: that Twitter account has tweeted only twice during the outage, while the official BlackBerryHelp Twitter account has been distinctly unhelpful, tweeting just a handful of times -- two of which are the same tweet.
There's no word from BlackBerry bosses, no suggestion of when services will be restored, and no mention of recompense. If the recent Sony PlayStation Network blackout taught us anything, it's that companies have to communicate with angry customers or risk losing them forever.
Are you still missing your BBM? Have you heard anything from BlackBerry or from your network? Message us in the comments or on our Facebook page.

It's unacceptable that there has been so little communication from RIM. Granted, technology problems occur. That's expected, but not on this scale and certainly not for this long. C'mon RIM.... where is your customer focus. You've relied on being the only game in town. Well guess what. That aint so any longer. I for one will be dumping my BB in favour of the iPhone.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:33
I am highly flabagasted at this pandemic occuring with blackberrys. My blackberry has not been working properly since early monday morning and this has angered me as i am only able to use my blackberry for texting. If i wanted to use a phone just for texting i would have brought as nokia and not spent £25 a month on my blackberry which is supposed to included blackberry services!!!!
This problem needs to be sorted as soon as possible or i will be contacting higher up members of society, maybe even David Cameron as his blackberry probably isnt working either right now!
Yours sincerly, CCLD.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:36
i think we should recvice some sort of "reward" for our phones in compesation for this incovinice as a youth i use my phone on a regular basis and im on pay as you go not "pay as you go and bbm might just not work for a while" -.-
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:38
I can't even use the internet o my phone either :(. Its a bit redic. Just realising how much I rely on my phone. Hello Glaxy SII on payday :)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:42
I think its sad how upset people are getting from all of this. As for assuming this could be a trigger for BB to jump ship to apple smacks of apple fanboyism.
missdusty 12 October, 2011 10:42
I now have no email, facebook, browser. This is beyond belief
missdusty 12 October, 2011 10:45
Text yesterday from Vodafone saying that rim were dealing with it

BLACKBERRY'S ARE A WASTE OF TIME!! I PAY £43.50 A MONTH FOR MY BLACKBERRY TORCH. i will be expecting to have a free UPGRADE to a IPHONE 4S I will never again have a blackberry there are joke!!!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:48
I completely agree with everyone who is complaining at the moment we dont want to be paying so much a month or pay as you go simply to not recive our services its not sad at all this has been such an inconvenince to many people, personally id like 3 month free internet for this... that goes for other bb users.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:53
here it will be fixed! hoping soon but iphones are SH*T wouldnt dare get a one to be honest!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:54
this takes the ******* **** it keeps coming back on then going again complete waste of ******* time of me buying a blackberry if this is gonna keep happening
anonymous 12 October, 2011 10:56
BB needs to communicate with it's users regarding this mess and provide information as to when this will be resolved (THE SOONER THE BETTER) the services BB offer's are the reason I brought one in the first place! I cannot believe this mess!!!!! However something seems very fishy about the convenience (for rival networks) of this mishap...when iPhone and Nokia are launching rival services.....*I smell illegal actions on the competitors part*
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:04
I definitely want my contract declared null and void ! 3 days without service delivery and they
expect us just to carry on. Sorry no can do. I don't want the phone and phone contract any more.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:06
The funny thing, is Maplins is literally stonesthrow from the RIM base in Slough
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:12
Maybe, just maybe, they're introducing some updates to the system. Perhaps the kind of updates that the general public are better off not knowing about. Remember what all the politicians and police chiefs said about BBM after the London riots? Surely it's quite unprecedented for this kind of outage to continue this long if it is only a mechanical error.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:13
Still cant bbm to my international contacts especially in England. Unacceptable!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:20
It is just a complete joke were paying for a service which we are not receiving, there is such a bad lack of communication. As for T-mobile texting customers saying no need to get in touch just seems sarcastic and rude to me, just makes me feel like contacting them just for the point of that sentence. I hope that RIM are going to sort this problem soon and if not actually give blackberry customers proper feedback. Think a refund is in order :)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:21
I have been with out my BB for three days now, As I am not always by my computer I rely on the email services which I have not been getting!! I think yes blackberry or our network providers should be offering some kind of compensation I pay £43.00 per month, When my contract ends I am going to jump over to apple!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:22
Im sorry but funny how the iphone has come out with imessage just the same as BBM for all us BB users and BB crashes, i think maybe iphone has something to do with our BB crashes, for how many yars has bb been around and now all of a sudden when bb becomes iphones top rival and iphone brings out a service identical to bbm we all crash. I will not move to iphone as it is not the same as my love for BB. True BB supporter
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:26
WHAT ABOUT OUR BIS (BB INTERNET) SUBSCRIPTIONS? MAYBE THE SHOULD REWARD US WITH SOME FREE STUFF WHEN THINGS ARE FIXED.....

WHAT ABOUT OUR BIS (BB INTERNET) SUBSCRIPTIONS? MAYBE THE SHOULD REWARD US WITH SOME FREE STUFF WHEN THINGS ARE FIXED.....
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:28
Just bought my BB on Saturday, now this? What the hell RIM, I just spent R3 000 on some useless ####, should've gotten the Xperia Play rather, I hope this doesn't stay like this for the rest of the month or permanently because now the value of my phone has dropped overnight to probably R1 000, WHERE'S THE JUSTICE? #### YOU RIM!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:29
we pay for this as part of our contract or payg the shops say nothing to do with us we have no info but it was when they sold us the bb.They need to do all they can to sort this out and fast sick of having a pretty phone that done the same as one I could pay 3 quid for on a payg it would do the same job.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:31
goodbye to stupid useless blackberries with no customer support. hello iPhone
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:34
still cant bbm or use the internet. driving me crazy!! South Africa
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:41
I've said it from day one - iPhone all the way.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 11:58
No BBM...
No F/Book...
No Twitter...
No Internet...
What a joke - I have 2 blackberries that I currently use - I will NOT be getting another , no contact from RIM, only one from t-mobile blaming blackberru for these problems - defection to the i-phone me thinks
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:00
I was one of the first people to use the black berry when it was introduced to the European Market in the early 2000, and have since then been a strong supporter. I understand in the world of techniques that things can go wrong, and accept this; what I do not accept is the fact that Black Berry has not made serious attempt to update/warn the millions of users they have worldwide to what has happened and keep them updated to how long it will take them to resolve the problem.
I was travelling and though my BB was defect until I seen Sky news and as always with sky! they helped by informing us of the technical problems BB were having. With more and more users switching to other mobile and the launch of the new iPhone all I can say is “well done BB”, I think you should be paid commission from Apple taking into consideration how many clients you have now lost due to nothing less than very bad client information.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:02
Unfortunately I have a two year contract, so I can't jump ship and probably just have to suffer this through. HOWEVER!! The fact that I have had absolutely NO COMMUNICATION from anyone over the past few days explaining what's going on and maybe giving an expected time that the problem could be resolved, just angers me tremendously. Does BB have that little respect for their clients?
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:05
Sounds like a bit of a convenient co-incidence that BB is down the same time Apple releases their new message service if you ask me... conspiricy theory??
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:12
I'm looking forward to updating my iPhone so I can use iMessage
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:12
No internet, facebook, emails, app store since first thing Monday
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:14
Absolute ******** paying fof sumthin i cannot use... Bet rim are still happy ther gettin paid tho ****
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:15
any girls who give brain add me u sexy girls ::)) when it works obv....idiots
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:18
I had literally just upgraded from my old blackberry to the new curve (which arrived yesterday morning) and having never had any real problems with blackberry..apart from a few bbm's going missing nothing major. So i switched over to my new curve and could not even register it with the blackberry network. Because all the data runs through blackberry it feels somewhat like a useless tool and i'm still considering returning it for an android or iphone.
This morning i got a sudden burst of e-mail waiting for me when i woke up but since then nothing more. I could understand if it was a free service but its simply is not and therefore we as customers of the service have a right to complain and also a right to know what is happening. the total lack of communication is terrible; some people i saw got a text message from orange (or whatever operator) i however received nothing!
I do have backup plan like a 3g dongle but i bought a blackberry so that i did not need to take my laptop everywhere just to keep on top of e-mails.
This i fear could be one of the final nails in the coffin for Blackberry.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:18
Fed up of this now :o( I want some answers, day three and I'm still not able to use bbm, the internet or recieve my e-mails! Oh except for when they arrive in bulk at 4am, then to hear nothing for the rest of the day!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:24
GET IT SORTED YOU JOKERS!!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:28
I cannot believe how quiet things are, at least tell us how much longer this may take, it is like a spit in the face, thanks BB you really showed us how much you value your customers. my contract is up for renewal this month, I will be taking anything but BB. and this is not because services are down but merely because of the lack of feedback that has been given. absolutely disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! angry South African EX customer.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:30
just regular updates would help!!!!!. come on rim keep us informed
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:35
It's funny how people are going crazy just because they cannot use their BBM, Facebook, Twitter Etc...
I wonder what would the people in Today's world do if everything changed back to the 1800's. My Gosh! Everyone would kill themselves.
Imagine trying to write a letter!
I use a BB too, and yes it is frustrating not being able to be connected to friends and family but com'on guys, it's been like 2 / 3 days? Give them some time.
After all one can never trust technology.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:37
I've been patient, but this is actually ridiculous now, I have no access to the internet, I've not received any e-mails or notifications for 2 days and my BBM isn't sending messages. Is anyone else STILL experiencing all of these problems?
It truely rubs salt in the wound that ios5 is launching today...ouch! Also a little more information on the situation would be helpful, as would some form of compensation! Thank you RIM!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:39
I've had no contact from T-mobile regarding this issue, which is very annoying since I don't have a contract and so I have to pay separately for my Blackberry service - £5 a month (plus a monthly top-up of £10).
£15 a month for what? A phone that sends texts? My geriatric Sony Ericsson can do that.
I rely on my BB during the day to send and receive email and use BBM. Now, email is dodgy, BBM is completely broken, internet is slow and the Facebook app won't update either.
Seriously considering selling my Bold (if anyone will have it) and saving up for an iPhone 4S instead.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:42
Regardless of BBM or E-Mail, I would just like my mobile Internet available, as its really useful and the only thing I actually regret not being available, especially as I pay for it (PAYG T-Mobile)
Sort it out RIM, Luckily for you, I'm unlucky that I haven't got the option to switch smartphones unlike others :(
Although it has been a nice break from BBM for a few days... :p
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:44
What are users of BB phone who use it for business purposes and to keep in contact with associates and merchants to do. This is totally unacceptable and RIM should be moving to resolve this situation in the shortest time possible. I for one may not switch but I can't deny that I'm totally disappointed with the lack of communication by RIM to its faithful customers
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:46
BBM, Aps and Facebook still not working on my blackberry. Am now receiving emails but cannot send. Really frustrating. Received a text message from Vodfone today saying there was a problem but that is the first my service provider have done. Relying on news/media for updates. Shocking. I will be serioulsy considering my next smartphone move later this month
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:55
Sort it out RIM, i am a recruiter for all of Europe and on the go constantly and because of all the services crashing im not getting any of my emails come through!
Thank god i have a iphone, defo will get on the iphone messenger now aswell bbm is always crashing its getting a little now.
The lack of answers from BB and RIM is appauling, no answers to when it will actually be fixed just a whole load of sorry's? Which we dont need, rather have them fix the problem!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:57
its is so annoying how i cannnot comunicate with any1 until i get home and on the laptop they need too give me a full moths worth off money because i only got it the other day then its just went down ffs so i want my £10 back i dont care if it a little ammount , but guess what bbm i getting the new iphone on friday and just gonna bin my blackberry
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:57
This is so stupid why am I paying £5 for a service I can't use.I think best thing to do is get a new phone.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:57
: ( wonder if the fact that have to fully charge battery twice a day is also somthing to do with the fault as the last week its been running out quickly on my friends and my bb's too ??? very frustrating, but stuff happens with technology, could happen to any system, you never know people might actually talk with their voices for a while
anonymous 12 October, 2011 12:59
While I do think its hilarious that people are ripping their hair out over such a relatively minor problem (oh noes, I can't bbm my imaginary fake ******* for an std-infested ****athon) there is no excuse for taking this long to a: trace the cause to a core switch and b: this long to replace it

In a proper redundant set up, the failure of a core switch would result in this, as you bascially have 2 sets of an identical setup, with one automatically kicking in if theres a failure

anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:01
I've got a BB Curve 8520 and haven't had the net on the phone for the last couple of days, but I'm getting texts and emails. TBH the internet's **** on my Curve anyway so I'm not that bothered, but I feel really sorry for the other BB owners that are suffering. It's crap that something like this can paralyze so many people - and it's still not sorted after 2 days!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:02
I Got a message from Vodacom Saying "Dear customer, RIM (blackberry)have informed us theat a 'core switch failure' has been fixed and they are working to restore normal service. service delay's are still likely.
my patience is getiing al little LOW now i hope we get back online soon :}
I truely miss my little "Red flashing Light"
Regards
Debbie
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:03
I use bbm to keep in contact with family and friends. I also use it for work and keeping in touch with colleagues and up to date with emails. Without these functions my blackberry is being wasted and paying such a high tariff for my phone i expect a much better (and more helpful) customer service centre.
Just more information about the problem and what is being done to fix it would help but thats not even happening.
As the article suggested, blackberry users may well be thinking about jumping to another service (me included) so RIM need to either communicate better with their customers otherwise they may see a large percentage of business wandering off to rivals.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:04
2 days without bbm, get a life you losers. its not that bad
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:05
Can anyone advise me on the legal stance. Is it possible to actually ask for your contract to be cancelled because of this disruption?? I want out of my patthetic 2 year contract and this is a brilliant excuse.
Thanks
As good as Blackberrys are, long live Nokia ( the most reliable phone of all time)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:12
BBM I can live without, the fact my browser doesnt work even on wi-fi is absolutley unacceptable, I have business to deal with via emails and to use orange world wap is like being in 2002 again.
The only thing keeping RIM afloat here is the gulf in price from basic BB's to iphone.
I have an iPod touch so I'm hardly arsed about my Social networking either
They need to offer something or some response soon as this handset is getting Mazuma'd and I'll stick with a Nokia 3310 and a netbook for business from now on
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:15
The problem is BB didnt even let the pay as you go customers know that there was a problem, or even apologize for the inconvenience. We're all just sat in the dark as to when it will be back up and running and if we wil receive something free for the inconvenience. All i know is if we get just a simple apology and nothing else then BB are going to lose alot of its customers to rival companies such as apple, or samsung.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:17
im kinda glad bbm has shut down for a while cause then i dont get pathetic stupuid broadcrasts :L altho i am thinking of gettin the new iphone 4 anyway so im not really that fussed
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:25
It isn't about needing to get a life, or being some kind of saddo because you can't use BBM, or being unable to cope living in the 18th Century.
It's simply about paying well for a service that is not being provided.
Im not massively bothered about Twitter or Facebook or even BBM. What is really starting to annoy me is no access whatsoever to emails.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:36
Blackberry services down in France since monday. I think RIM should take lessons of crisis management or hire a temporary representative firm.
How can their services be down for three days, handicapping millions of customers, and no one from their ranks said anything? It is even worse when they said on monday "everything is fixed" while in fact it is still a real mess.
Servers down and technical issues are things that happens - but as you said, when something goes wrong, you need to take care of your clients, and communicating is worth it. Finally, I don't care about not having messenger or my professional emails for few days, but what I will keep in mind is that RIM is inefficient in taking care of its customers and in managing a crisis. And because I have specific expectation about professional services - it could/would definitly make me choose another smartphone.
Jeremy
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:39
This is a complete joke. I never thought I would be saying this but I am dumping my bb, and jumping on the 4S. Screw you rim.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:41
I have not had my blackberry services for a few days now and it's quite frustrating, then again 90 Percent of Pathetic broadcasts I could do without for a couple of weeks. I am pretty sure getting frustrated and screaming for compensation is not what's needed here. I am pretty sure blackberry didn't shut off their servers because it was a good thing to do at the time, people need to man up and wait, not cry like pathetic schoolgirls who have lost their dolls. It's just a BBM, if blackberry was to issue refunds for a lack of service then they should do it on a pro rata basis from our monthly fee for bb services? And devide it by the number off days that we go without. There are too many people out there who only want a chance to get something for nothing and don't genuinely care.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:47
i want to be compensated!! this is unacceptable!! 2 days??!! RIM, you can start calling bbs sbs ****Berry :)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:48
Being on a O2 contract I have no information at all from them regarding the BB service being down, which is unaccepectale I found out that BB was down via facebaook when I got home from work. I blame the network provider as well as RIM for not keeping me updated. Quick enough to tell me when my bill is overdue though.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:49
This is trully bad and very annoying but just for all you people who assume this will void your contract your wrong, When you purchase a contract phone you take out an airtime agreement from the company and a service agreement. The difference comes down to who gave you the service agreement, i.e if you bought a contract phone from O2 and the handset was given to you by O2 you may have some grounds to fight but for the others like me who bought a contract phone from O2 for example but purchased at another store like phones 4 U will have no grounds. Each compnay will direct you to the other and cost you alot of your time. In reality the only company at fault is RIM and they will have to offer something like Sony did to compensate i.e free store apps etc. Sucks but this is the truth :(
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:51
JUST FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:54
this is stupid. I topped up my phone on sunday so i could get my bbm back and internet then this goes down I hope that blackberry doesn't make me pay on the same day next month as it wont be fair. if i had the money to get an iphone i would do i hate this blackberry its driving me mad!. i called up my network provider yesterday, then they said that blackberry said the problem was suppose to be fixed at the end on the day (yesterday). I find this stupid and I'm sure to be putting in some sort of complaint.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 13:54
I've not had emails, Facebook or internet since Monday morning on my BB. My contract expires at the beginning of January but i'm going to T-Mobile on Saturday to ask for an upgrade to Samsung Galaxy S2. I can't believe that RIM have only tweeted a couple of times with the same message and that there's very little apology to us customers.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:01
bbm is ******* me of now n does anyone know how long its going to take for bbm to come bk on
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:02
people are over reacting to much. They are dealing with the problem and yes there has been a limited amount of communication but thats no excuse to go buy another phone. It shows who the loyal customers are some people decide to go get an iphone. I for one will be sticking with my blackberry
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:04
Lol this is crazy! We paying like what 70 bucks for service that not only is that my bbm not working, my facebook and twitter is down also in toronto canada
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:06
MT BLCKBERRY HASNT BEEN WORKING FOR 2 DAYS I I AM BEYOND ANGRY BECAUSE I DONNOT ACCEPT THIS YES THERE WILL BE PROBLEMS BUT NOOOOT FOR THIS LONG - JUST FIX IT AND I DEFINATLY ACCEPT SOME SORT OF REWARD !! OR EVEN APPOLOGY
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:08
Yes, we pay a monthly fee for the BlackBerry service and it is an inconvenience not to have those services. However it really is not the end of the world! Your phone still works! It's not like you can't do anything, that would be a problem... It has only been two days, relax! This is not an easy problem to fix... If you think you can fix an entire structure failure in less than two days be my guest, if not you really have no right to complain because you have no idea how much work it takes to fix your little "inconvenience".
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:11
Defiantly going over to Iphone, blackberrys are pure rubbish and will never recommend them to anyone!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:15
Every one grow up for goodness sake - It is a few days that we are with out the service - Get a life!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:17
Its 2 days.... get a **** life...
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:18
3 days without all the BB services that we pay for is a joke! think we should at the very least get kept up to date as to what's happening with our Blackberry's. Its understandable that things can go wrong with services and i appreciate that but to have a phone that i can hardly use any of the applications on and to be basically kept in the dark as to how long our phones are going to be useless to us is getting beyond a joke now.
There's so many people all over the world wanting answers and we deserve to get at least that reassurance before BB loses a lot of valued customers to there rival company iphone!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:19
The only thing wrong with RIM is their lack of commuication. Everything breaks down eventually, people get that. People don't get a company being silent, cryptic or frugal with information. I won't switch to Apple simply because of, let's face it, a rare technical breakdown. I like my encryption, thank you very much. But I'm disappointed in the human element of this problem.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:21
PEOPLE CALM DOWN THEY WILL FIX IT IF THEY CANT LIFE GOES ON!! LOL
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:23
People rely on technology way too much. Yes, it is frustrating but itsn't there worse things going on to worry about? People can change to Iphone, or whatever, but you do realize they to can go down as well. No technology is 100%. Once you all go to Iphone, I'm sure you will start complaining about something. I don't even want to know peoples reactions when the internet goes down for a few days.
If you really need to get in touch with someone, text them, or call them, or email them using a computer....there are others ways.
Stop complaining about something so little when there are worse things going on.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:24
Yes, I do understand that thing like this happen, But I personally think that it is PATHETIC that BLACKBERRY can’t even send out a message to all the BLACKBERRY users on their devices apologising for the inconvenience with an explanation for the inconvenience because they have the PINS for all the active BLACKBERRY devices that is registered on the BLACKBERRY network.
If any other mobile company come across something like this they notify their users and apologise for it with an explanation. So BLACKBERRY you can learn something from the other mobile company’s and networks. I am on the road the hole day so time is money and accessing my mails on my mobile is so convenience but at the moment I can’t access anything. If you can’t fix it for the second day in a row, than WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING TO THAT WE PAY PER MONTH!!!! R54.00 per month times say 58000 users is a total of R3,132,000.00 WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE MONEY, surly you can appoint someone that knows what he is doing and how to resolve the problem.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:26
Hey all do you remember the time when Cell phones didnt exist? I do. How did we all servive in the days when the commen telkom phone was the only means of communication. So don't streas people the world will not stop because of one service that has stopped for a few days. Think of this as some piece and quiet time, Time to relax and not having to need to know what everyone else is doing in this world.

See how loyalty is been tested here.... You all have failed in terms of loyalty. Yet you support your club after a match even though the lost a game.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:28
R54.00 per month times say 58000 users is a total of R3,132,000.00 WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE MONEY, surly you can appoint someone that knows what he is doing and how to resolve the problem.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:30
Yes, I agree they should inform us and apologize but if we can't receive messages at the moment, how do you think that they can send us that. Yes, they have our pins, but bbm is down...so maybe they have sent something to our phones but we just can't receive it.
And, I agree with the post made at 14:26.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:30
OH YES! i for got if Black berry had to keep you up to date contintly about the how far they are in restoring the system they'll never get anything done. So just chill people and enjoy the silence while it lasts. I will. :-)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:33
I HAVE JUST SPOKE TO BARRY AT RIM AND HE SAID THE PROBLEM WILL BE SORTED WITHIN THE NEXT HALF HOUR
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:34
I use Blackberry's dataservices for my businesses and this is causing quite a substantial loss of sales and in turn my wallet :p I'm not impressed whatsoever, I use apple products too, and they are way more reliable and stable compared to RIM, they are going to have to pull something out of their asses, I wouldn't be surprised to see RIM going bankrupt within a year their products are seriously behind their competitors I have been seriously considering for the past year to switch over to apple completely and no this incident is reinsuring this decision for sure especially with their lack of information to their customers right now.
This post was sent from my iPhone because my browser doesn't work either on my Blackberrys
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:35
as soon as there is a need to blame some1 there is no1..... its pathetic and i hope and pray that whoever **** up gets ****** and dropped off a building **** you!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:35
Anyone wanna buy a Bold 9700? I'm going to pick up my iphone tomorrow.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:36
Once again........ Another let down by Blackberry !! Not been able to use my phone properly for 3 days and not had any communication from BB. Unacceptable!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:36
I'm outraged. I'm trying to maintain effective communication with my clients. I've only just transferred over to blackberry a couple of weeks ago and now I'm at a total loss. I'm finding it impossible to project manage when I cant access my emails on the go.
Research In Motions LACK of communication is a disgrace. Frequent updates would be nice but I guess they are all too busy pushing pencils around. You'd think a company of that size would have a strategy that covered major issues like these. A back up system should have been implemented long ago. Their incompetence will see a dramatic loss in customers.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:37
i ahve not had bbm for 2 dayssss now!!! its acc pathetic!!! please sort this issue out.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:38
Ive not heard **** from my network provider! I am annoyed blackberry has been down for 3 days! This is beyond ridiiculous! I have a blackberry that can not do anything other then make calls and text, maybe i should go back to my old Nokia phone as it has about the same use right now.

I appreciate there will be faults but for 3 days?! like REALLY!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:38
ALL MY MATESS ARE ACC ******* ME OFFFF WITH THIS BBM PROBLEMM JUST SORT.IT.OUT!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:39
WHEN THE **** ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE THIS WORK
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:41
I got an sms from my service provider saying that blackberry apologizes for the inconvenience and that they are working hard to restore normal service. I can't use any instant messengers (whatsapp, bbm) my browser is also down. And even though i do have wireless my phone refuses to allow me onto the internet. My facebook is also down.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:41
Get a grip people, it's only been down for 2 days , accidents happen, if in a few more days it doesn't work then conplain, for now ! Just wait. I personally live bb's. Excited for upgrade !!! Will be staying with bb too ( mainly cos I have an iPod touch) but still. Stop winging ya big bunch of moaners
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:43
Shut ya mouth
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:43
absolutely ridiculous!! WTF is RIM thinking? You would think that knowing that Apple was releasing their biggest competition yet, that they would have made sure their systems were up and running and beyond expectations.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:43
rim do not know anything about there phone service here in the uk as there in canada and when i contacted them months ago they took 3 months to figure out what a phone was i am recieving emails but no internet access or bbm its a joke they need to get a grip
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:46
it is a joke and its really frustrating, i got my bb so i could use the internet and have facebook and twitter in my pocket, although in saying that i have a ps3 and the psn network being down didnt put me off just like this hasnt put me off bb, i just wish they would tell us more thats going on!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:48
it is ridiculous, no offence to the makers and producers of blackberries but the only thing which makes these ' smartphones" special is the fact that they have their own messenger service, when the service is down which at the moment is more often than not, the phone becomes useless! my family and i use BBM as a means of communicating and i have now been cut off from my family for 3 days, i don’t live at home so this is more frustrating for myself then it is for those who live at home. and the only apologies or updates i have received from the blackberry company is word of mouth assumptions on what is going on and one very lousy apologetic sms from my service provider, with no clear indication as to when the problem will be resolved.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:49

anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:56
I am disgusted how RIM over the years have gone down in the customer service, poor quality, and losing their competitive edge...i just a bb 4 months ago and a month later RIM in the stock market went down...which is A CLUE THAT RIM IS GARBAGE AND GOING UNDER! I am paying for bbm and internet on my phone which I can't access and I think that we should receive credit for it. AS FOR ALLYOU BBM USERS I SAY DON'T PAY FULL AMOUNT OF UR PHONE BILLS BC WE CAN'T EVEN USE OUR PHONE IN THE PAST FEW DAYS. I am planning to go to iphone since Apple is much better quality and service! I have a ipod which is 8 years old and i never had an issue ever!! but RIM has been giving us nothing but issue. THIS IS BULLSHIT! RIM SMARTEN UP OR YOU WILL BE LOSING YOUR CUSTOMERS FAST AND COMPETITIVE EDGE. APPLE IS KICKING YOUR **** Next upgrade....IPHONE HERE I COME!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 14:57

Its really stupid with this bbm thing! all RIM have to do is send a statement to all the mobile prevides tell them to contact all there blackberry users how long they think the system is going to be down! DATS it!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:02
i have the brand new blackberry bold and i pay £47 p/m and to be honest i think you all need to shut the f up and get on wiht life! its bb.. its forever working and forever on broadcasts! wow, its like a 5ver a month for bbm.. its broke for the whole of 2 days, send a text if its bothering you that much! on MOST contract phones where its over 30pound p/m ure get unlimited anyway. stop whinging and moaning FOR GOD SAKE.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:03
Blackberry are so full of *****. They've always claimed to focus on their customers. So why haven't i or any of my friends had a message to say when the problem will be resolved. Or even to apologise i am so angry and because of this i will be recieving my iphone on friday.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:12
This is crazy!!! I am not getting proper news feeds via facebook and cannot go on chat on facebook, nor can i bbm!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:19
Geez these things happen, stuff breaks down, yeah it sucks but I'm NEVER switching to Iphone or any Apple product, that's just not gonna happen. No big deal, txting still works fine.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:20
This is pretty * up should have stayed with my nokia
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:20
No big deal. Stuff breaks down. It'll be fixed. Texting works fine for now. Settle down people!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:23
Im From Slough and my friend works at RIM, he was saying that they will be giving everyone some sort of incentive/gift for the recent failures, i have the 9900 bold and iphone 4, lucky i got my iphone 4 on sunday :P
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:26
Here in SA we have been down since Monday mid-morning. No comment from Vodacom (as usual) and RIM has a big market in this country...well I doubt very much longer. And with all due respect 'A Core Switch Failure'; and three days later still not fixed....fire your IT Support Staff and equipment vendor! Flip hire me.....I can design your systems and resolve switch related faults much faster than your guys obviously can.
Apart from the lack of redundancy in your systems; do what you market 'AND COMMUNICATE'!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:37
I think its unacceptable but at the sametime people over-react far too much. There is never a guarentee that technology if 100% guarenteed to work.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:40
Sorted within the next half hour!!!! LMAO ARE YOU KIDDING ME THE ************ THING IS STILL NOT WORKING!! These people are the jokes of the year I mean really I can't to nothing with the damn phone maybe I must crush the damn thing and use it as a door stopper.!!!
Next upgrade I will be getting another phone with less problems!
I'm losing clients here with this phone and everthing being down including emails and internet.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:48
Seriously everyone just pipe down... It's a problem! Obviously if you are kicking up such a fuss over BBM just to speak to friends... Get out more...!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:52
It's funny how everyone disses the BB but are remaining anonymous. Everyone can complain about something if no-one knows who they are. All of those saying they would switch all know that once the BBM network comes back up, we will be praising our devices again ;-)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:54
still though with all these new phones coming out with different unique messaging services copying bbm its kinda stupid now its gonna make me want two phones for the fact that no one will one to traditionally text on their phones if they have the instant message service. and since they will only be able to do itwith other peoplewho have the same phone its just getting irritated. i love my bbm but yeah im not happy about this and they are def gonna go under if this keeps happening. i wouldnt put it past hackers though. and in canada we pay the like highest cell rates in the world. i dont really know anyone who pays less than 75 dollars Canadian a month 100 and up if you want internet browsing aside from social networking and such. it goes tp show how much people rely on bbm though. doesnt it. hmm popular much.
for those who have wifi or internet i suggest downloading WHATSAPP from blackberry app world. its like an instant messneger based on phone numbers and its cross phone friendly. i use it to instant message with my iphone user friends and android friends. as traditional texting just isnt as fun but is really as effective. lol
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:56
by the way my internet texting everything but bbm is working JUST FINE so all u people with those issues probably isnt even RIM causing them... they are unrelated to BBM.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 15:56
SHUT THE ******** UP DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY CLIENTS AND MONEY WE ARE LOSING OVER THIS WHOLE BULLSHIT STORY THAT THE PHONES ARE DOWN!!!!

YOU DON'T LOOSE MONEY EVERY MINUTE SO GO PLAY WITH YOU'RE TOYS!

WE ARE TALKING HERE ABOUT THOUSANDS OF RAND WE ARE LOSING EVERY DAY !
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:00
It is part of RIM because most of the people I know is using blackberry and everyone's internet, BBM, whatsapp is down. we can only make calls and receive the old text messages. No email and so forth is working.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:01
You are all acting quite idiotic. There is no reason RIM should be responsible for paying you back, when the company taking your money is your cell phone provider. There have been some idiotic claims that 2 days without bbm is worth 3 months of internet! Grow up, mistakes happen.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:02
If you phone ************* this is rim in slough press opt in 3 then option 4 after 20 attempts they cut you off but they hsve left a message just to say sorry and go to the website for updates sorry but I haven't had any luck on either someone else mite try fuming is the word and rim so ignorant to there bb users
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:07
Soon R.I.M would R.I.P
A sad day for BB :-(
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:08
I'm due to top my phone up on Friday, think I'll be buying a new phone to top up, what a JOKE !! A months free Blackberry bolt on might change my mind... what's the chances of that do you think? Doubtful... very doubtful.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:12
Personally I think this is a coorpoarte attack on RIM, do you really think that it is a coincidence that BBM goes down all around the world the day apple releases it's imessage? NOT!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:17
I know why BBM is not working - its CEO is busy buying a hockey team!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:36
This problem is going to make a lot of blackberry owners want to switch to an iPhones!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:44
bbm is down in mexico
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:45
they better have a hefty reward, or they are going to lose a lot of customers to apple.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:46
They best give us bbm free for the next month!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 16:59
It's frustrating having BBM down, no access to FB and my email down but I love my Blackberry and would never switch to an iphone... Good things come to those that wait and I do believe Blackberry will give all of us something for remaining patient and loyal.
Vent, but don't go making irrational decisions peeps. They will get it sorted out soon enough.
Have a good one :)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 17:01
this is totally unacceptable.. I spend thousands of pesos (my currency) in this piece of ****! I will go and get an iPhone!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 17:03
BLACKBERRY STILL ROCKS think before you threathen RIM as the IPHONE as we know is a useless phone ,now consider or compare what your phone offers oppose to iphone simple you cant send ia bluetooth to any other devise for one so keep quiet and lt RIM do their job
anonymous 12 October, 2011 17:03
TBH I'm not fussed about social networking its more annoying that I can't contact any clients via email I do think that it has something to do with Apple though or just some spotty kid in America hacking networks :)

anonymous 12 October, 2011 17:45
You all need to like clam the **** down. its only been like what 2 days? 3? and your asking for a reward lool. your reward would be 5% off your next bill. Every company has a break down... so stop your complaining
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:04
i only had my phone on saturday 8th october.....
hardley used it cause my bbm has been off, and because im on contract i still have to pay for it even though im not using it!! i recommed it gets knocked off my bill - really disapointed with the backberry service so far.
wish i had never of chosen a blackberry now -would not recommend to any one :(
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:06
Idk a bout the rest of you but I'm staying true to my berry. #berry4life
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:06
i have not even recived a text message or a phone call very disapointed dont buy one cause you will have to put up with all theses problems that are not needed when you buy a phone
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:06
well i hope that RIM will recompense both my provider Virgin and that of my family member on Orange. We are still without our services and its Wednesday evening. IWe are in Essex. How about a nice surprise of an automatic rebate on next bill without having to ask. Come on Virgin lead the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:11
um can i just ask... you know those things .. think they are called a computer?? you know what i mean, usually a big screen and a proper sized keyboard or those ones that you can sit anywhere and use... think that one is called a laptop..........surely email and facebook can be seen on one of those! ?? believe im using one right now to write here!!!!
and bbm.... so people will miss you for a few days..... were is the harm in that?? and have you never heard of a txt message???
i must be the only one actually enjoying a silent phone :)
dont worry blackberry, im not jumping ship.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:23
Everyone thats asking for a reward, you're all jokes, for all anyone knows, RIM might be upgrading their software to prove that their platforms will and always be better than apple, get over yourselves, its been 3 days max for most of you and you're asking for a month free, their question to you is are you half smart or half stupid. They're having technical difficulties with a few servers and switches, GET OVER IT. Everyone is working their hardest to get everything back up and running smoother than ever just so most of you jerkoffs can get back to complaining about other things in your delicate little lives. For all you users jumping ship to aplles iphone 4S, enjoy all the defects and bugs with the phone as that always been a problem with apple and their Pieces OF ****. For all you kids and young adults that have the right to complain: "OHHHH I CANT USE BBM I GOT A BB JUST FOR THAT REASON TO MSG MY FRIENDS A FEW BLOCKS AWAY." Theres something called skype which is free, or email; also free, so feel the need to use either of those in the meantime to keep in touch with friends and family. Give it a rest people, ALL SERVICES SHOULD BE UP AND RUNNING by late tonight or tomorrow. Just keep your panties on because Blackberry - Research In Motion are just gonna be moving up the ladder.
I operate a small business and the BB is how I connect to customers, I have an answering service that takes my calls and e-mail me the customers request for service. (sometimes my customers are in need urgent repairs to operate their businesses) and they expect a return call.
Most of my clients are repeat customers and some account for up to 25% of my sales ......... I cant afford too lose their business. This blows!!!!!
I'm most definitely going to look into an I phone.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:37
Aghhh many it has so many users so eventually i was overloaded but lets give RIM until friday then we can go AWOL even though u can switch to iPhone when i get more users it will cratch that's IT for u guys. So RIM have learnt their lesson....................
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:42
i broadcasted a msg and my phone started working!

#REP :Broadcast this and your BBM will get repaired this is working, sorry for the bcm
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:49
the service is pathetic. it's an absolute outrage, it is a worldwide service that millions of people use, they cannot afford to have a system failure like this. the news have just said that they are aiming to get the services sorted for saturday, SATURDAY! people pay for the service to get it for a month, i think alot of people will have missed out on time that they may need to use the service for and BlackBerry should make it up to their customers somehow if they want to keep them.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:52
I have a Blackberry. I also use Blackberry messanger. However I find it quite worrying that others seem to be unable to function without either for a few days... It is a sad state of affairs when a malfuction which affects a tiny part part of our lives for a no doubt short amount of time stems such an outbreak of anger and upset. You should all be ashamed!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:53
Comes down to not getting a service that we are paying for, not our faults. I am happy with my BB when it is working but won't tolerate dealing with a company that doesn't know how to fix its issues and has poor communications. If I wasn't 1 year into a 3 year contract I would look into other options, Rim seems to be getting more and more problems these days and will lose business, they need to get it together before it's too late.
My BBM & email did start working briefly about an hour ago but that only lasted about 10 mins.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:53
Only started having problems later last night (Oct 11/11 Alberta/Canada). BBM down, Browsing down, email (even gmail app) not receiving/sending. SMS still works. And phone still works.
I've simply come to expect the same problems with BBM that I had with my previous non-smartphones on the Telus cdma network.
Communication during times like this is CRITICAL for customer retention. The only thing more important would be actual customer support (in the form of voices, not just an online forum). It's unfortunate that there isn't a system in place for BB users to be notified of updates or changes when there are technical issues.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 18:56
It is ridiculous. we have heard no news about when it will be fixed..... some people need the interenet on their phone for e-mails. Some of the blackberry users like teenagers do not need as much as bussiness people do but still we should get some compensation.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:06
Just to make others aware, i too have been let down by a service i pay for and (sadly) rely upon. 3 days and more to come has made me angry. Now the good news, i am on a 2 year contract with approx 13 months remaining, i have contacted my provider and demanded cancellation of my contract. I HAVE cancelled my direct debit and shall be returning the blackberry to the shop first thing in the morning. my provider has agreed with the cancellation and I AM GETTING A NEW iPHONE tomorrow!! whey hey! UP YOURS RIM
(oh, may i add 3 members of my household have blackberrys too. or should i say HAD.)
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:22
my problem is that the whole system isn't completely down, every now and again i get new recent updates and sometimes it will let me use the facebook app. it seem so silly to be getting so worked up but my phone has been slowing and crashing repeatedly since the problem began, this is now starting to effect my general use of it just as a regular phone!! its an outrage, 100% unimpressed.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:24
This is ridiculous. I don't think an apology constitutes for the inconvenience that they are causing to the world.
How could it take so long to fix something that earlier was supposed to be resolved shortly or at some point today. That means about a week for people without these services that we are paying for.
Blackberrys are used not only in everyday life but in my business they are a crucial way of being able to get back to all of our clients in a timely matter, wherever we are.
I think its unacceptable for Payne to say that "RIM is going to learn from these mistakes," how long have Blackberrys been in business? How much competition do they have? and are they keeping up? I think in such a competitive environment where not only Apple is releasing their version of BBM but other companies as well, there is no room for mistakes.
This is not the first time BBM is down, everyone I know, myself included has had BBM malfunctions almost every month. There is nothing new and innovative about the Blackberry anymore and they better step up and realize that this mistake is going to cost them a LOT.
No one is loyal to the Blackberry brand anymore and everyone wants something new and most importantly something that works. Apple is constantly delivering and Blackberry is struggling to even keep a service like BBM running. Smarten up RIM guess this really is the end.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:25
i have only had my blackberry since may and i have been experiencing this problem, i am furious with the fact that i am not hearing of anything from blackberry, not to mention the fact i am paying for bbm even though i cant use it at this moment! i can access the internet but not bbm or yahoo messenger! this is an outrage to not tell me anything since monday!

You got call time? Call people!!!
People walk arond like drones with said phone in hand, starin blank at the screen, either sending a message or waiting for a reply!!!
BBM goes down......people want ££££'s as compensation!!! Then people wonder why prices go up year after year?
Its a free messaging service! Supplied for FREE!!!! Think about what you are all doing everytime you send a free bbm, yahoo, gmail etc message! You are paying 0p for it! No text pack bundle, no 10p a message, no PAYG! Just chill the ***** out, n wait for it to be fixed!!!
And..........Breath!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:47
i am DISGUSTED in these so called 'professionals' FIX BLACKBERRY NOW OTHERWISE I WILL GET IPHONE ON FRIDAY!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:49
Three days and counting..... this is totally unacceptable. I have always had Blackberry's, not anymore !! My upgrade is not far off and when the time arrives I shall be switching to Apple !! As we have had little or no communication form R.I.M. Dont they think that they have some kind of responsibility to their users ????
anonymous 12 October, 2011 19:53
Okay , honestly this is the only article i've been able to find and its not even written by Research in motion , in fact I haven't heard anything from RIM at all , Are we going to be entitled to a refund of sorts? or are we currently paying for this lack of service , either way I have an Iphone sitting right in front of me just waiting for my SIM card, and it looks like so do many other people. From the looks of things RIM will be bankrupt before you know it.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 20:15
I think people should just be patient, we're all human and yes we make mistakes. So the people in RIM are also human. And if yu love bbm, facebook etc so much then grab a fuckin laptop or text like the good old days. As for jumping to apple NO way! Iphones are the biggest pile of ***** As for bringing out the imessenger ****, what a cheap shot! They still can't beat bb! The original will always be the best. People going on about gettin month sof free internet WHAT?! You've missed like 3 days max of service and ur askin 4 a few months free service? Ahaaaaa ridiculous! Seriously slap urself -_-.

But yes I do miss my bb, but I for one am not a stinjy **** and can still communicate by other means which will only cost a small amount. If yu could pay for it b4 yu got the bb why can't yu pay for the otha means now. Stop complainin and ****** get ova it losers.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 20:24
I hope all of you wanting to jump to apple actually do so, or else your complaints are just a waste on peoples eyes. Plus this would also mean that when you get screwed over by apples notorious "customer support" and when their new imessenger system goes down, I won't have to hear you complain as I'll still have my bberry. As previously stated, technology sometimes doesn't work, things happen. Yes RIM could probably do with a little more customer **** kissing to keep us happy, but I dont think stuff like massive overcompensation for 48 hours of downtime is reasonable. If you do the math, say you pay $25 a month for data, divide that by 30 days and reasonably you could maybe ask for $2 compensation...big deal. But yes, go out and spend 500 dollars on a new iphone because that cost is certainly justifiable for 2 days of downtime...
anonymous 12 October, 2011 20:53
bbm, will eventually be back up, its been reliable for quite some time now, and im shure our lives wont end , so lets all calm down.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 21:36
BBM is working at the moment
anonymous 12 October, 2011 21:39
I use Hookt for chatting with my friends. It's sooo much more stable. I think you can dl it at hookt.com
anonymous 12 October, 2011 21:40
I am absolutely disgusted with what is going on.....ok we all no that a system problem can't be helped but its now been 3 days & to make matters worse Blackberry themselves can not even keep you updated or apologise for the inconvieience it has caused many.
Refund for pay as you go & monthly contract customers or at least a gesture of good will.
i-phone for me next time I think
anonymous 12 October, 2011 21:49
apsolute jooookkeee not even a msg to say the problem as bein resolved or what? very unproffessional wonder if we stoped paying our bills i suppose we wuld soon hear from sumone or recieve a letter!! wont be staying with blackberry as they have no consideration for the customers, i think ifone will b getting alot of blackberry customers not jst for the messanger going down but for the lack of intrest to communicate with there customers, ifone have a new imessanger i hear that as came out today
anonymous 12 October, 2011 21:59
We better receive a whole month free as compensation to the days it isn't going to be working for.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 22:23
People have jobs, school and other things that they depend on their bb for! I probaly may seem like an addict but honestly i believe everyone should get what they pay for and as for blackberry being one of those billion dollar companies they should own up to it and actually really please their customers!!This is so not fair to just say its a glitch and have it go down every half hour! It seems like alot more!! this is totally unaceptabull!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 22:28
Everyone should calm down. Granted I use BBM for business and its very helpful but we didn't always have BBM also everyone should just take a step back. Not getting BBM for a few days gets your face out the phone and more attention on more important things. Be thankful for what you have and not what you don't.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 22:42
i pay £30 a month on payg and do not pay for a lack of service! no communicationms just acting all blaise about it blaming each other, JUST SORT IT ******* OUT OR YOULL HAVE LOST YORSELVES YET ANOTHER ****** CUSTOMER!!!!!!
anonymous 12 October, 2011 23:04
BBM is what I do the majority of my work from. Its also where I get my emails pertaining to my schooling. With it down and me rarely being by my computer, I have no way of checking my email, or talking to a majority of my coworkers.
This is more than some little inconvenience.
While it is ironic that this crash occurred around the same time as imessage came out for the iphones, this is far from the first time that this has happened and I wonder why bb has yet to be able to fix the problem. Apple comparatively fixes its service problems as soon as they arise and they don't seem to repeat (case in point the reception signals on the iphone4 which had to be fixed).
I will be switching to an iphone as soon as my contract is up. Or sooner if that becomes possible.
anonymous 12 October, 2011 23:53
Oh god, people! I'm so unbelievably sick of this stiuation, and BB isn't causing my woes. It's all of the complaining I have to hear now it's gone down. All I see is "If BB doesn't go up in the next TWENTY SECONDS I'm going out and I'm buying an iPhone instead!" Here's an idea. If you can't bbm a work colleague to set up a meeting, send them a text message for now. Call them and organise it, even! When did we get so absolutely socially retarded to the point that we can't pick up a phone and talk to our nana or george from sixth form on the phone? Have a bit of faith and just wait it out. It's a million in one thing that's happened, and it's pretty likely to never happen again.
anonymous 13 October, 2011 00:40
Everyone who's complaining are acting like you can't live with out social Network on your Phones... Text people for now and if you need to use other things like Facebook just FIND a DAMN Computer... Everything is going to be back to Normal so stop crying
anonymous 13 October, 2011 00:50
This is ridiculous!!! I am seriously considering switching to the iphone... I really only got Blackberry for the BBM, but I can't use it, this is such a useless piece of junk! I'm in southern Ontario, Canada!!!
anonymous 13 October, 2011 01:11
I can not believe all of you what ever happened to picking up a phone and actually talk to people this is really sad that this has shut down our civilization think about what you are all complaining about if your hydro or cable goes out I don't think they give you 3 months of free service patience is a virtue they will get you back up and running and your poor little fingers can get back to work
anonymous 13 October, 2011 01:40
It's up and running now, as of 01.38, 13/10/2011... I'm in London, UK.
It's so far running as normal. BBM with mates from N. America, Asia and ME.
Hope everyone else got it up and running too!!! If not, good luck!!!
anonymous 13 October, 2011 02:09
ah help the ghost of steve jobs is infecting my phone
anonymous 13 October, 2011 02:22
Still having problems with data, email and BBM in Calgary AB Canada.
anonymous 13 October, 2011 02:32
Personally I find it very strange that blackberry goes down like a day or before the iPhones equivalent of bbm comes out and the iPhone 5 ! I think it has something to do with apple !! Think about it !!! I love my blackberry and my iPad !!!
anonymous 13 October, 2011 02:40
No BBM…
No Facebook…
No Twitter…
No Emails…
No Internet…
No fun at all :(
Not having BBM is the worse though :'(
Totally frustrating!!!!!

anonymous 13 October, 2011 03:30
Oh how all hell breaks loose when a Cell phone network is down... I would hate to see the reaction to something which actually mattered happening in the world if people cannot even handle not having their wireless devices for a day. Get a clue, your life has not in fact ended because your blackberry isn't working, and the amount of extra money you payed to have that certain phone (which at the moment is a worthless piece of metal and plastic) could have fed someone for quite a long time, among other things. Think, sheep, think, before it's too late.
anonymous 13 October, 2011 05:04
Still down! Garbage! When is that Iphone coming again??
anonymous 13 October, 2011 06:07
This is unacceptable. Most users buy blackberries because of the access to bbm, the internet, and email. If we wanted to just text, as we're being forced to do to communicate, we would have bought a regular cell phone, and would probably save a ton of money a month on plans. Personally, I rely on my blackberry on a daily basis for school, work, and personal updates. My blackberry hasn't been working for 3 days now, and nothing has been said about why this is happening or when it will be fixed. We should be reimbursed for the time that we were unable to have our services provided to us. I know that I am considering going and getting an iphone or android because I feel that blackberries are becoming more and more unreliable. This has happened twice in a very short time frame.
anonymous 13 October, 2011 06:15
To the people on here saying that we dont have a life because we're upset that our phones aren't working.. a) you're on a website where people were told to comment regarding their satisfaction. You get a life.
b) maybe the reason why we need to keep in touch is BECAUSE we have a life... ever think of that one? no probably not because you're on here, making stupid comments to people because you don't have a life.
c) what would you do if someone told you that the electricity in your house was supposed to be good. and then you find out its been shut off for two days... you wouldnt be very happy. We're not mad because we cant use our phones.. we're mad because we were told the services were great, and yet twice in 2 months it has shut down. We're also mad because we haven't received any information regarding the issue. Back to the electricity example... you're electricity is off... and its been off for two days and noone has told you when it will be back.. to the person who said that we got along without phones before.. humans got along without hydro, indoor plumbing. computers and electricity.. lets go back there too...
anonymous 13 October, 2011 06:55
I have the latest BB the 9900 I use it for both business and personal updates. I do find it frustrating I can not communicate via email whatsapp or bbm and more so that I have not received any communication. I have been using BB's for 8years and have no intention it switch as they are still miles better for business communication than Apple! I do however feel very let down by RIM and there lack of communication and the time it is taking to fix, i still do not have data services? I will be voicing my opinion the next time I am in the relevant company.
anonymous 13 October, 2011 09:38
My BBM still not working properly! I am receiving but cannot send any! Is anyone else having the same problem ?
missdusty 13 October, 2011 10:54

anonymous 13 October, 2011 13:07
i dont know why everyones goin off on 1, anyone would think u ave to pay for bbm, ya dont its free grow up and stop moaning
anonymous 13 October, 2011 15:09
so many ignorant people on this site! You people are stressing over nothing. I guess nothing has ever broken on you? Never had to leave your car at the mechanic and find alternative for a day or two? Never had to call someone to fix your computer and were without it for a few days? So you had to pick up the phone and call or OMG send out a text message instead... And to top it off, you're threatening to go from BB to iPhone, one of the most pretentious phones out tehre with the most pretentious users. All of you reek of failure.
anonymous 13 October, 2011 15:56
RIM CAME OUT WITH A VIDEO SAYING THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DSR NETWORK THAT THAY ARE RUN AT THE SAME TIME IPHONE COMES OUT WITH THE SAME DSR NETWORK THAT RIM IS USEING WHAT YOU GOT TO SAY ABOUT THAT I VOTE FOR BLACKBERRYY AND STAND BYY IT SO IM NOT GOING TO ****** IPHONE 4S ITS BAD FOR PEOPLE TO THINK BLACKBERRY IS NOT GOING TO COME OUT OF THIS AND IM SURE WE WILL GET SUMTHING FOR THIS **** SO STOP ******** AND GROW UP
anonymous 13 October, 2011 16:05
welll be a normal person n buy it on pay as you go looool
anonymous 13 October, 2011 17:11
becuase im wastin money straight on a new phone again. i thought of buying th new blackberry with touchscreen but nooo, tank you. That error showed it is a money waster. Now it is only between the samsung dalaxy s 2 or the new iphone. (ONLY buiny because RIM disapointed me so strongly with not telling of the service problem)
anonymous 13 October, 2011 17:25
Use Jabber and you'll be happier for it. Run your own internal service or communicate with other systems. http://jabber.org
anonymous 13 October, 2011 23:05
You guys spasing about bbm being down.. grow up children. Go out, meet people. Pick up the phone and call your friends. Nothing is perfect in life. Get used to it. You guys are just a bunch of greedy consumer pigs.. bbm is down for a few days, and you guys want a freaking Ferrari as compensation. Pathetic.
missdusty 14 October, 2011 10:15
Sporadic signal outside uk since last night
anonymous 14 October, 2011 14:57
My word some people are highly strung. It's unfortunate the service went down, but I'm sure no one died because of it. Put your dummies back in and get on with it.
anonymous 20 October, 2011 15:37
It was unfortunate but i dont thats enough reason to ditch blackberry
anonymous 20 October, 2011 15:42
Rim has been solid for me fir the past 8 years
anonymous 13 January, 2012 14:36
