In June we showed you a handy chart that listed the pros and cons of each major mobile OS, including iOS, Android, BlackBerry OS and Windows Phone. Now MyPhoneDeals.co.uk, the company behind the original infographic, has revised its epic image to account for updates to those operating systems.
iOS is now on iOS 5, BlackBerry OS 7 is the newest software on BlackBerry blowers, while Android is poised to get Ice Cream Sandwich and Windows Phone was recently blessed with Mango.
Click the image below to check out the massive graphic in all its glory, which compares each operating system across every category a platform should excel in, from app selection, usability, messaging and gaming, to the hardware these operating systems actually run on -- the phones themselves.
It's handy if you're stumped as to which phone to buy, or if you're a huge fan of one particular platform and want to see how your operating system of choice stacks up against the competition.
The iPhone 4S is the champion device for iOS 5, while the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is about to explode onto the scene, bearing Android's banners. The Nokia Lumia 800 is also making waves in the name of Windows Phone.
If this infographic doesn't help you make up your mind as to which OS is king, check out our comparison video and article of the three phones mentioned above.
In the meantime, let us know in the comments or on our Facebook wall which OS holds your heart.

Eeek!
Spelling mistakes (..if you want to Jailbreak your iPhone to remove it's restrictions// "its")
Out of date (Windows Phone comes in 4.7 not 4.3")
Error (no click feedback on Windows Phone? Erm, yes there is...)
Otherwise, seems fairly impartial...

Thanks to CNET and Luke for featuring the chart.
The aim was to help everyone see how the OSes stack up with their big updates, as there's a lot of info to consider. Hope it proves handy!
Apologies for any errors, we did a lot of checking though some still slipped through, will aim to do better.
Cheers,
MyPhoneDeals team

I loves me iPhone and no ones gonna talk me out of it.. :P Gotta admit the competitions getting a bit stiff though. Offering Windows higher design - them's fighting words...!!

A whole lot of typos. Looks like Windows Phone is the way to go.

I was sure they were going to bias things towards the iphone but actually this is pretty even handed. Good job!
Have to say, Blackberry is going to slide off the chart fast if they dont do something cool with QNX.
I'd look at WP but the point about the ecosystem and lack of support is true.. will wait to see if Nokia can make it into a major player.

I agree with most of it, but though Android may take a bit of getting used to, some of the things it offers such as using the memory card like a USB would arguably be more beginner friendly, since people can just copy and paste rather than trying to figure out iTunes.

Seems like Android is the winner. If you can't figure out Android you should consider having a smart phone anyway as Android is extremely easy to use. I have no idea where people get these "puzzling menu system" from.
Also you can customise Android to look like Windows or Apple or many other different designs. With the competition, you are limited to one design you are given. Reviews never take this into consideration, neither do they explain how restricted Apple and Windows actually are...

"If you can't figure out Android you should consider having a smart phone anyway as Android is extremely easy to use."
Android should be smart enough so that people don't have to. It isn't which is why HTC and Samsung use proprietary UIs.

To the poster above, I'd say that Android cannot be customized to feel like Apple or Windows Phone no matter how you try. Plus that's just leaving the burden of designing a usable OS to the user. A good OS should do it for you.
I do think the chart is fair as it gives Android top marks for customization.

I'm sure i have seen this on cnet before...
Still, good to see both times :)

Can someone explain me, why WP7 is considered the worst E-Mail-Client? And when "Tied to Zune" is bad, than iOS should have "Tied to iTunes" listed as a bad thing. Furthermore apart from the fact that I think Mac syncing is not a really great advantage, you can sync your Windows phone with a Mac, too.

AND THIS IS NEWS.

I have to say, competition is great... they all have weaknesses, but they are all getting closer and us users are better of for it. Give it a few more years and we'll have some really cool stuff.. ah the joy of tech.

some one was using windows for almost 12 years but now I want to use iPad or iOS, bcz of the apps
anonymous 6 November, 2011 13:28
Lot of spelling and gramatical mistakes ,really unprofessional.
Examples
if you want to Jailbreak your iPhone to remove "it's" restrictions should be its)
Windows & usablity and design "mtakes" (more like Mistakes)

iPhone will have its battery life issue fixed with 5.0.1 shortly.. well at least it better be :P Before the update, the iphone 4 had pretty good battery life compared to Androids, now its really painful. We shouldnt have to rummaging around in tech forums tryin to find a fix.
anonymous 6 November, 2011 23:18
I like android but personally prefer a jailbroken iOS phone, I won't be getting a 4S until there is a solid jailbreak available. If Apple ever suceed in stopping jailbreaks that will be the end of my iOS days. I think the closed garden approach may be Apples downfall in the long run. Great as Apple are business PC's are still Windows driven. Will Apple ever bury the hatchet with windows? Over SJ's dead body!

This is an infographic? If something with such a lack of real information can pass for one then anything will.
This is just recycling of common, misinformed, everyday user knowledge. It's the kind of stuff that is to be expected by the above companies representatives, when trying to spread techno-propaganda. You have to be a computer scientist to flash an Android ROM and BB's are only of any use if you're a businessman who needs to access his emails on the go... of course these are all accurate and representative issues that people fine .
To add to this, this is clearly biased towards Apple. E.g. List of advantages: Excellent all rounder... but why did they feel the need to rephrase this and add that it's expensive under the section of advantages? Surely that's a distinct disadvantage. Not to mention that the restrictions associated with devices that aren't jailbroken are also present, as well as the many limitations that the software inherently has when compared to Android devices.
Why is it not a surprise that I'm reading this rubbish on CNET?

This chart shows how far we've come in the last few years.. we have some really good OSes that don't have any big holes in terms of functionality anymore. They are really some amazing devices. Oh.. and WP Mango is beautiful.
