Google is rolling out the latest version of Android to its very own Nexus One. Android 2.2, also known as Froyo, will be pushed out over the air to Nexus One owners over the course of this week.
As always when installing new software, we recommend backing up your phone in readiness. Once you have the download, your Nexus One will offer support for Flash Player 10.1 and extra support for Microsoft Exchange, among many other features.
Meanwhile, the HTC Hero is finally upgrading to Android 2.1 as we type. Orange and 3 contract customers, however, may be left wondering what they pay their money for, as they may be stuck with version 1.5 until the end of July.
Updates to other HTC handsets are delayed by the fact that the company also has to upgrade its customised Sense user interface to work with the new version of Android. HTC told Recombu that it's working on Sense updates for the Desire, Legend and Wildfire so that they can upgrade to Froyo sometime between now and September.
If you're champing at the bit for the new version of Android, let us know in the comments section below which feature you're most looking forward to.

2.2, 2.1, what are these stranges names you keep referring to. I've got a Hero (great phone, love it), which uses 1.5.......1.5, I can't even get 1.6.
On 1.5, I feel like a caveman who just discovered fire, running out of my dark damp cave to share with the rest of the village, only to discover that everyone else has moved into condos and penhouses, throwing BBQs and all nights parties.
What is the delay. . . . .this is unacceptable. Added to which, everytime you speak to HTC and Orange, both companies tell you that you should look to the others for its arrival.
How much longer do I/we on Hero (with contracts) have to wait. . . . . . . . . the flames going out on my stick.
