The LG Optimus 4X HD will soon be arriving in UK stores, bringing with it a 4.7-inch screen, quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and a bunch of software extras.

It's going to be launching "in Western Europe" in June although exactly when it's going to be in good old Blighty hasn't been confirmed yet. Continue reading...
O2 UK rolling out fastest current flavour of 3G
Mobile network O2 UK has started rolling out the current fastest variant of 3G. Don't get too excited yet: this isn't the 4G speed hike we've all been waiting for -- it's an incremental improvement while operators jockey for position ahead of the 4G spectrum auctions.
DC-HSPA, which stands for dual-cell high speed packet access, could see typical mobile data download speeds doubling. The variant of DC-HSPA O2 is rolling out has a theoretical maximum of 42Mbps. That's double the topline speed currently supported by the more widespread HSPA+ flavour of 3G, albeit real world speeds are likely to be far more modest than that. Continue reading...
Samsung Galaxy S3 battery performs well in early tests
An early release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has had its battery put to the test and the results aren't at all bad, putting to bed our fears about the power-sapping quad-core chip. For now, at least.
The folks over at GSM Arena have got their hands on the new superphone and have given its battery the once-over. It managed to give over 10 hours of talk-time which easily beats the 8.5 hours achieved by its predecessor the Galaxy S2 and is streaks ahead of the 7 hours 40 minutes the iPhone 4S managed. Samsung is destroying evidence in patent trials, Apple claims
The patent battle between Apple and Samsung is getting even more heated as Apple claims that Samsung has been intentionally destroying evidence that could be important to the trial.
The motion, unearthed by Network World, was filed by Apple earlier this month and states that Samsung's actions count as "spoilation of evidence" in the ongoing trial to determine whether Samsung has copied Apple's products. As a result, Apple wants the judge to instruct the jury that, "Samsung had a duty to preserve relevant evidence, failed to do so, and acted in bad faith in failing to meet its legal duty." Jamie Oliver launches Samsung Hope Relay charity giving app
International chef-bot Jamie Oliver and British Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton teamed up with Samsung this morning to launch an app that will see the tech giant donating £1 to charity for every mile you run.
Called 'Samsung Hope Relay', the app seemed pretty nifty in the short time I had with it. Once you've downloaded it, you take a picture of your face and move it around so it fits into a circle on the screen, type in your name and email address and it will create an animated character with your face on it. HTC Desire C hints at cheap Ice Cream Sandwich this month
Ice Cream Sandwich on the cheap could be just around the corner with the HTC Desire C. Leaked photos reveal the budget phone, previously known as the HTC Golf, packs the latest version of Android and could arrive in Europe this month.
The Desire C poked its head above the parapet in Portugal, when Vodafone accidentally included it in the online listings for May -- then speedily whipped it away before anyone noticed. That was the plan, anyway -- as it turns out, GSM Arena was just too quick off the mark with the screengrab button. Continue reading...

Apple pulls 4G claims for new iPad following complaints
Apple has dropped all mentions of 4G from its new iPad. Previously billed as 'Wi-Fi + 4G', the new iPad is now described as 'Wi-Fi + Cellular'. Head over to the Apple site and you can see for yourself.
This follows a barrage of complaints about how the tablet is described. While technically capable of connecting to LTE bands, it only uses the ones in the US and Canada, not in Europe. That didn't stop Apple from marketing the device as '4G' over here and in the States. Until now. Continue reading...
