Spotify in talks with 3: 'We definitely want to strike a deal'

Good news, everyone! Spotify has been on the blower to UK phone network 3, and the conversation involved Spotify's mobile versions being installed on the integer's devices.

New Media Age first got hold of the news, so we contacted our friends at Spotify ourselves, and a spokesperson told us, "It's true that we're in talks with a range of potential partners and we definitely want to strike a deal soon. But no, nothing has been agreed at this stage."

We've reported on Spotify putting together mobile versions of its application for Android, iPhone and Nokia phones. And we also know that at least the iPhone version, which is currently awaiting approval from Apple, will require users to pay a monthly subscription to stream music to their phones.

The scenario for Spotify on 3 would probably be similar to Nokia's Comes With Music service, which offers users unlimited music downloads as part of certain contracts and service plans. Or you can buy a phone that comes with a year's subscription, but it's up to you to also sign up to a network. For now, all we can do is speculate.
