Nokia 6220 Classic: Old school name, new school features

Mobile Phones

The Nokia 6220 Classic is a straightforward candy-bar phone that sounds like another average handset from Nokia. The good news is that this potential simpleton is actually packed full of features.

Turn it over and you've got a 5-megapixel camera with xenon flash, which takes much better shots in low light than a camera with LED photo lights. We're not sure yet if it takes better shots than our much-loved Nokia N82, but we'll compare them in our full review posthaste. There's also GPS on the 6220 that helps you navigate accurately around town.

A phone with these kind of features must be bulky, right? Nope -- it's relatively small and light. It even has HSDPA (3.5G), so that you can browse the Web almost everywhere you go at broadband speeds -- and we all love browsing the mobile Web, don't we?

Admittedly, this hasn't turned us into giggly schoolgirls like the iPhone 3G did, so browsing the Web on its relatively small screen isn't a revolutionary experience. It does work, though, and we managed to download Opera Mini, which made surfing even more enjoyable than normal.

The 6220 Classic will be available soon from several major networks including 3 for free on a monthly contract. Expect a full review soon. -Andrew Lim
