Nokia's new spoons: Nokia 6600 fold, 6600 slide and 3600 slide
Tags: nokia, megapixel, fold, tapping
The humble spoon might be something you take for granted, but you've got to admit that it's a beautifully designed implement. Soup, cereal, even rice, are no match for the spoon's mighty capabilities. Phones, on the other hand, aren't always so well designed, which is why we're glad to see that Nokia's making a real effort to make its latest ones usable -- or at least that's what it says.
The Nokia 6600 fold, 6600 slide and 3600 slide are apparently 'beautiful to use' -- a great slogan that demands the response, "But not to look at." They're designed for people who grumble about phones being too complicated these days, but that doesn't mean they're feature-free. The 6600 fold packs 3G and an external screen that displays text messages and missed calls, and lets you silence calls by tapping it twice.
As you'll have gathered from the names, the 6600 fold is a clamshell, while the 6600 slide is a slider sharing most of the same features, including the shut-up screen tapping, but it boasts a 3.2-megapixel camera, instead of just a 2-megapixel one. Finishing off this straightforward trio is the 3600 slide, which offers a 3.2-mgapixel camera with dual LED flash and TV-out.
All of these phones are due out soon and will most likely be free on a monthly contract. We're very keen to test them out and see if they live up to our spoon analogy -- who knows, we might even try to eat rice with them. Soup might be pushing it. Expect more info and pictures soon. -Andrew Lim
