Nokia N96: 16GB genius phone
Tags: nokia, pics, hands, handset
You heard it! Nokia's new N96 handset has landed, and by heaven it's sexy! The phone wasn't a total shock as the N95 has been hugely successful. It is, of course, replacing the N95 but seriously builds on its predecessor's features, notably by bumping the internal memory to a whopping 16GB. It's also got a microSD slot, should 16GB not be enough for you mobile media lovers.
Like the N95 it's a dual slider, giving you quick access to your multimedia collection. It also retains the 5-megapixel camera, but this time it's got twin LED lights for those darker shots on the dance floor. Other features include a 71mm (2.8-inch) display, full-size 3.5mm headphone socket, mobile TV reception (DVB-H), Wi-Fi and GPS.
Expect hands-on pics and UK availability details soon. We're very bitter to have just got our N95 8GB handsets, because 16GB will hold a hell of a lot more pictures of Maria Sharapova doing every kind of bending known to man. Click through for some more pics. Of the N96, that is. -Nate Lanxon
Update: Our intrepid reporter Andrew Lim has had his eager hands on the Nokia N96 here and there is a Nokia N96 video on the site too.

N96 up to 24GB and 5M cam, brill bring it on, getting close to be able to have real good phone video. Means can record your kids party in high quality, burn it onto a 32gb panasonic SD card and post to Relatives in Australia - be good when can get highspeed broadband, and youtube without the compression thats makes all the video's look total poo. Bring it on.
Far better than the 70's films of us as kids wee had to watch, or black and white stuff my father had in the 40's, or the rubbish my grandfather had in the 1910's although he did have a cool car.

24GB, No!!!... 32GB... SanDisk Launched the 16GB Card and its on sale for €76... That is the perfect mobile...The 5MP camera shoots great pictures or at least enough for such a multi handy. Ok shame the lack of battery life, but i dont complain too much with my N95 and an extra battery is cheap or the other bulkier battery... plus supporting TV, if i watch great movies with Divx, TV will be amazing... The software support its great and with all that memory, ill carry all the GBA and Snes games easily, without limiting the music nor movies... Definitely buying it...

Can't wait to get a nokia N96, can i order it online. When will it be out?

I had the n96 for a couple of days and sent it back. Don't get me wrong in standard terms - you can trust a nokia, and what you expect is what you get. However, it is very disappointing in terms of features and basically doesn't feel like a massive step up from the n95. The thing that really did it for me was the fact that battery life is very very poor and this died within 3 hours continually - I guess the fact that they include a car charger in the pack, probably was a bit of a clue. I think there are better phones on the market, and for the price, wasn't really worth keeping.
I didn't ever think I'd feel this way about a Nokia!
