Sony Ericsson G700 and G900: Organise your person

Mobile Phones

If the phrase 'personal organisers' brings back memories of bulky filofaxes, the new Sony Ericsson G700 and G900 could be about to change your opinion. The two touchscreen mobile phones have just been announced at Mobile World Congress and both allow easy access to calendars, contacts, notes and bookmarked Web sites via Wi-Fi.

Sony Ericsson describes the phones as "touchscreen organisers with a broad appeal", which strikes us as remarkable hubris. Both phones boast 61mm (2.4-inch) touchscreens that support notes written on the screen with a stylus -- exactly what hoodies are gagging for these days. The G700 packs a 3.2-megapixel camera, while the G900 goes all the way up to 5 megapixels. The G900 also includes a burst mode and onboard photo editor.

The Sony Ericsson G700 will be available in silk bronze colour, and the G900 in dark red and dark brown, from the middle of this year. No prices yet, but we'll keep you updated. -Rich Trenholm
