Skype phone unveiled on 3

Today Skype and 3 announced a mobile phone that will allow users to make free Skype-to-Skype calls and send free instant messages over 3G, in addition to making normal phone calls and browsing the Internet.
3's Skype phone also packs a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, an expandable micro SD card slot (up to 1GB) and weighs a pocket-friendly 85g. The star feature however, has to be the ability to make cheap Skype calls.
You can call friends or relatives anywhere in the world via Skype and not spend a penny, or have to be tied up to a laptop or PC -- we like.
According to 3's press agency, this handset is much more integrated with Skype and easier to use than previous Skype-running handsets, such as 3's X-Series range of phones, but we'll wait for a proper hands-on to make any final judgements.
The Skype phone will be available from 2 November and cost £49.99 on pay as you go, or free on a monthly contract. Skype-to-Skype calls will be free on contract, but you'll need to top up your credit every month to get free calls on pay as you go. -Andrew Lim

I have been using one for the last few months and I think it is excellent, my boyfriend, sister and best friends have one and I hardly ever have to spend any actual credit, instead I use this credit to watch tv and download music and games. People keep dissing the call quality of skype but after a while you get used to it and you dont really notice the difference anyway you are talking for free so if you call on skype and the connection is not perfect than you can always call them using the normal call function! I love this phone and I think the extras are great although its not a smartphone but what do you expect for a 50 quid phone. The only problem I have with it is battery life it lasts 1-3 days but then again you can always recharge it.
So buy it people and spread the skype word!!! oh and one more thing this phone is meant to be retailing at 130 pounds however 3 want to introduce it and get as many people to buy one so they are practically selling it at wholesale price..just shows you how much you get for your money!!

i have this phone and ive had it for just over a mothn, me and my boyfriend have one so that we can talk to each other for free and have skype im chats which dont cost us anything and is much faster than texting..also it has great features like a media player, video recording and bluetooth and you can get on to the web without using all of your credit...i think it is well worth £50
