Tariff wars: O2 iPhone vs the rest

Update (5.11.07): O2 has scrapped its fair usage policy for the iPhone. 'Unlimited' now means unlimited, so you can browse the Web over EDGE (2.75G) as much as you like.

You don't consider 200MB unlimited?!
I don't know anyone who could go over 200MB in one single month!!
Unless your using it as a modem which is not included anyway.
I think the tariffs are pretty cheap to be honest.
And just to point out.. "200MB fair usage" which means they will not charge a single penny unless you go double that a few times. Fair? I think so.
You wouldn't see Vodafone offering these tariffs ^.^

Given that the iPhone can download albums from the iTunes store, and just 4 albums can take more than 200Mb, only an idiot would jump to the conclusion that the new iPhone trariffs will have the same definition of 'unlimited fair use' that O2 applies to normal phones.
The fact is, O2 haven't said what they consider 'unlimited fair use' of an iPhone is, but hey, let's not let facts get in the way of racking up some website hits, eh?

Noone is going to do more than 200mb on EDGE, its crap-slow. The wifi is free nationwide and in your own home. THAT is where you will be doing most of the browsing. I'm going to be using the "data" for email only.

I have reached 2gig a month befor with no extra charge from 3. I am a student who hardly watches T.V (too much studying, yes am a geeek). I am addicted to podcasts and download them directly from my E90 with a special application. I also listen to FivLive (football commentry) everysaturday via the internet with my mobile through real player at work and thats what really eats up the data not using my phone as a modem. I have a 20m coonection at uni. UNLIMITED SHOULD BE UNLIMITED

So the only thing you guys have focused on is that the 200mb/month limit is crap. Well thats gone, now you really do have unlimited data - just like you wanted.
So what do you think of it now?
I love it.

But I can't afford it :)

Fair usage policy is 3gb a month, not 200mb. 200mb = Consumer Tarrif not I-tarrif :)

I'm actually writing this comment straight from my iphone! I consider 200mb a very reasonable amount, as its about 1,400pages?

I was speaking to an o2 rep earlier while getting some info over the phone. She reminded me that i would receive a warning if i went over 250mb in a month. Ive already gone to about 230mb cause i got board while on a bus and started watching youtube videos. When you take into account that the phones they are giving people have the capability of using sites such as youtube and streaming radio/audio straight from the web i cant help but feel that 200mb falls far short of the "unlimited" bracket. Im replying on my n95 just now so forgive me if my diction or spelling is wrong. Oh, and just an after thought, my friend just signed up for "unlimited" on vodafone and they told him their fair usage is 500mb. I just wonder how a company can use the word unlimited and get away with it by sticking a disclaimer next to it saying, we dont really mean unlimited by the way. If i opened restaurant and told people they could have unlimited food but by unlimited i meant some food, im sure someone would come down on me.

200mb!? Unlimited? Hardly!
Such a rip off. I'd rather just pay £200 to import one from the US, and unlock it for nothing...
