E-TEN unveils the glofiish X800, its first HSDPA device

Today E-TEN showed us its new Pocket PC phone, the glofiish X800. Similar to the glofiish X500, which we reviewed earlier this year, the X800 features a large colour touchscreen and Wi-Fi connectivity. It runs on a 400MHz Samsung SC3 2442 processor with 128MB Flash ROM and 64MB SDRAM.

The X800 has some major improvements over the X500, however: the X800's screen is VGA (640x480-pixels), it runs on Windows Mobile 6.0, it has a built-in GPS receiver that you can use to navigate around town, and it has HSDPA (3.5G) connectivity for high-speed Internet access on the go.

On the back there's a 2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, which takes relatively sharp photos, but it doesn't really compete with the Nokia N95, which has a whopping 5-megapixel camera and an otherwise similar feature set.

That said, this is a Windows Mobile device that lets you synchronise with Outlook, access Windows Live Messenger and get push email support for your Hotmail and Live account, among other useful things.

Other features include an MP3 player that supports the majority of popular formats, including MP3, WMA and AAC, a VGA camera on the front for video calling and an expandable microSD slot.

The glofiish X800 will be available in the UK later this year SIM-free, probably through eXpansys. E-TEN said it will cost about £400 to £500. -AL
