Samsung SGH-P300: The nano of phones

Mobile Phones

Is it a credit card? Is it a calculator? No, it's a super-slim mobile phone that measures 9mm thin -- a whopping 2mm thinner than Motorola's Slvr L6 and only 2mm thicker than the iPod nano. However, unlike Motorola, Samsung hasn't left out all the good bits.

The SGH-P300 features a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, 80MB of internal memory, a 262k colour screen, WAP browser, MP3 player, Bluetooth, speakerphone function and tri-band connectivity. We're about to get one in for review and, as you can imagine, we're as excited as a karate fan at a Chuck Norris convention.

Before we lay out the red carpet for the delivery man, however, we've been noticing comments on certain forums that indicate there might be a serious problem with the audio quality on calls. Now, we're as hooked on feature creep as the next tech blog, but if there's one thing that winds us up about fancy new mobiles, it's fancy new mobiles that don't make calls properly. It's like buying a BMW and realising there's a Morris Minor engine under the bonnet.

We'll let you know once we get our hands on it and we hope it doesn't disappoint. There's the little matter of the Texas Instruments circa 1997 calculator styling, but we'll reserve spleen until it's in our hot little fists. Expect an update and more pictures soon. -AL

Update: a full review of the Samsung P300 is now live, along with more images.
