Toshiba has scrambled after Samsung and hopped on to the creaking netbook bandwagon, announcing the NB110 at the Ceatec trade show in Japan.
Design-wise, there's nothing too remarkable to see here. It resembles an Eee PC, with specs a mix between that and the HP 2133 Mini-Note: Intel Atom processor, 8.9-inch screen, Windows XP, 1GB RAM and a 120GB hard drive. It weighs in at a very respectable 1kg, and connects to the outside world with 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth 2.1 and three USB 2.0 ports.
Toshiba is actually one of the pioneers in mini-laptops, with the Libretto first coming out in 2001, and the Tecra M4 convertible tablet in 2005. The NB110 certainly looks like it's related to those two.
The NB110 will be available in Japan from the end of October for ¥70,000 (£375), with Europe and other Asian markets to follow later in the year. -Erica Ogg
