Pay attention, 007: the new James Bond film has been revealed live on your iPad. Skyfall, the official title of Bond 23 was revealed via the Sky News app in a live press conference this morning.
The next film to feature Britain's top secret agent will again star blond-haired bruiser Daniel Craig as Bond -- James Bond -- with Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes as the villains and French stunner Bérénice Marlohe as the latest Bond girl. Albert Finney and Judi Dench are Bond's bosses, and it's directed by American Beauty and Road to Perdition helmer Sam Mendes.
The press conference is being streamed live to the excellent Sky News for iPad application. Sky subscribers can watch for free. Everyone else will just have to wait until Twitter lights up with the news about 8 seconds later.
The new film has been languishing in a cell beneath a volcano for a couple of years as film studio MGM faced the spectre of bankruptcy. But now the film is ready to roll -- it pits the sexy superspy with the licence to kill and even more gadgets than our review section against the mysterious QUANTUM organisation hinted at in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
Can Bond 23 get the series back on track after the shambles that was Quantum of Solace? Could the success of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and the influence of Mendes' theatre background see a move away from beefy beatdowns to more thoughtful, character-driven espionage action? Will Bond drive an electric Aston Martin? We won't know until late next year when the film is released, on 26 October.
Who's your favourite Bond? Have the Daniel Craig years been up to par with the classics? Is Bond still relevant? And most important of all, who should do the theme song? We back Adam Buxton. Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below or on our Facebook page.
