Samsung could be gluing together a new Galaxy Tab, with online navel-gazers theorising that the company's next tablet will sport an 11.6-inch screen and a 2GHz processor, making it bigger and faster than the existing Tab 10.1 -- pictured above.
Androidandme has been putting the pieces together, and reckons it spotted a prototype Galaxy Tab during the CES trade show earlier this month.
The site says it was politely asked to delete photos it had taken of the new device, but claims it was powered by an Exynos 5250 processor, which is dual-core and runs at a speedy 2GHz.
That would make for an exceptionally fast tablet. The prototype was apparently also running Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
The screen resolution could be massively improved too. Last year Samsung demonstrated a tablet display that boasted 2,560x1,600 pixels. Could the South Korean gadgetmonger be planning to sneak a screen with that monstrous resolution into a new Galaxy Tab?
As for the size, German site Tabtech reckons the end of February will see an 11.6-inch Tab announced. That would make it rather tricky to lug around, but Samsung's not been shy about making obscenely huge gadgets in the past.
So when would we get a glimpse at this hypothetical monster gadget? If it exists, we'll probably see it at Mobile World Congress, a huge tech show at the end of February. We were expecting to see the Samsung Galaxy S3 unveiled there, but recent reports conflict over whether we will or not.
Maybe Samsung will be looking to mend our broken hearts with a new Tab. What do you think Samsung can do to compete with the iPad? Tell us in the comments or on our Facebook wall.

OK, I'm just getting lost with what the 'tablet philosophy' is supposed to be. I get that the table can replace the netbook type unit, small;cheep;media consumption gadget, like the new Amazon device (not commenting on the platform etc used here). Things seem to me to be getting way to big, powerful and expensive for what I thought the 'tablet' niche was.

Looking forward to it.
Lack of keyboard and nice touch response is what defines a tablet for me.
Spectacle wearers will appreciate the extra space.
10" is too small as my girlfriend often tells me.

Very pleased to see that at least one manufacturer has decided to experiment with larger screens on tablets. I'm sure I can't be the only one waiting for something reasonably light with a touchscreen around A4 size. 10" is just too small for the tasks I have in mind.

Android are good, especially when it comes down to phones but I'm sorry, they will never, especially when the iPad 3 comes out, be as good as Apple when it comes to tabs. The iPad is king of tablets. I have the iPad 2 and my mate has the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Even he said the iPad is better. It's faster, doesn't lag, and there are much more apps available for it. Plus, 11.6 inches is far to big for a tab. Like the idea of the apparent Samsung Galaxy S3 but certainly not this Galaxy Tab 11.6'

I have to agree with aliward. Even if I hate the way that Apple manage some things, the iPad it's just better than the Galaxy Tab (which I have and love). It doesn't lag, have a more precise keyboard, better copy&paste function, easy to indent a text and the browser is simply best. About apps, well, I don't care a lot.
Talking about the browser, I just can't understand why Android doesn't have a Chrome version for Android. It's just...incredible. I've tested several ones in my tab and all of them behave in more or less the same way than the stock one.
