rock Xtreme SL Pro: 20 inches in your lap

rock has joined the ranks of Dell and Acer and announced its very own 20-inch laptop. Dubbed the Xtreme SL Pro, this deformed monstrosity of a laptop uses a WSXGA+ display capable of pumping out 1,680x1,050 pixels.

Unlike its two biggest (geddit?) rivals, the Xtreme SL Pro is aimed primarily at gamers. rock has chucked in a pair of Nvidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics card in a serial link interface (SLI) interface configuration, so this thing can give the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles a real run for their money.

The main grunt is provided by an AMD Turion X2 TL-60 processor clocked at 2GHz, which is nice, and you get a pair of 100GB hard drives in an optional RAID configuration. There's no sign of HD DVD or Blu-ray as yet, so you're stuck with an ordinary dual-layer DVD drive (max 8.5GB) for the time being.

You can pre-order a rock Xtreme SL Pro from the rockdirect Web site right now, but make sure you have the required £2,499 handy. That, or start being extra nice for Santa. -RR
