Look at these eager beavers. The new iPad doesn't go on sale until Friday, but they've already started queuing, nearly a week early. Insane.
Ali and Zohaib are the first in line outside Apple's Regent Street store in London, SlashGear reports. And they've come prepared, with folding chairs and warm clothes to help brave the cold. Let's hope they're not disappointed by the new iPad.
It's not out of the ordinary for people to start queuing early for a new Apple product, but nearly a week in advance seems a bit crazy to me. They do know it's basically the same as the last one, right? Still, I have to admire their dedication.
Perhaps these guys have the right idea though. Stocks in-store are said to be low, and if you want to pre-order the new iPad online, you're looking at a two to three week wait. So if you're keen, maybe you should get yourself down there. Just take the week off, your boss will understand. It's practically Easter anyway.
The new iPad was announced on Wednesday night. It comes with a new retina display that has four times the resolution of the iPad 2's screen, which means you can't see the individual pixels even when zoomed in on pictures. There's a faster processor and improved camera, though it is a little bulkier and heavier than its predecessor.
Our very own Luke Westaway is no stranger to queuing for a new Apple product -- here he is in action. And here as well. It's sure to be quite a scrum on Friday morning when the Apple store's doors open.
Is it crazy queuing almost a week early? Will there be stock shortages? Or do you think Apple is saying that just to generate hype? Let me know in the comments below, or over on Facebook. Right, I'm off to start the queue for the iPhone 5. See you in October.

Sad little nerds

Is it me, or does the guy on the right look like the guy on the PS Vita artical... http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gamesgear/ps-vita-sells-1-2-million-units-worldwide-50007158/
anonymous 11 March, 2012 10:58
Typical, probably claiming benefit, but can still afford overpriced Apple products.
sinaplenty 11 March, 2012 11:01
Some enterprising talent agency has obviously started a "sad nerd" service that it rents out to tech companies launching underwhelming products... Oh and "anonymous 2", you can go back to dailmail.co.uk now.

To be honest, before you start writing technology articles, you should try basic math. If a screen has twice as many pixels in on both sides, the screen resolution is four times that of the base of comparison, not double. Having said that, the two little nerds would look pathetic, if they would not have been hired so that articles like this get written. Also, with the predicted delays of 2-3 weeks they will work VERY hard for that money...

To be honest you shouldn't post the same comment 4 times...

"They do know it's basically the same as the last one, right?"
People's stupitidy never fails to amaze me! So, if the design is the same.... is basically the same thing right? They look at the design and if that's the same as the previous model, then it's the same thing. Same crazynes with iPhone 4S!! Well, if you did your maths correctly before you rushed to publish the news first about 2 douche bags who got over excited about the new iPad, you would know that the new iPad has nothing the same with the previous iPads except the design. But Journalists like you give a bad name to journalism just like these 2 jerks give a bad name to Apple fans.

How big a loser you got to be to que for a gadget and that too about a week too early. Their life must be pretty sad and lonely .
anonymous 11 March, 2012 16:49
You should not be allowed to participate in the journalistic process

two useless morons
anonymous 12 March, 2012 07:57
Don't these people have jobs to go to??
Cameron de Wet-Bunton 12 March, 2012 13:07
@anonymous - It has 4 times the number of pixels, but the resolution is double. It's twice as sharp = 132 pixels per inch against 264 ppi on the new iPad.
pyub 12 March, 2012 13:36
Cameron loving your work on the maths, glad someone pointed that out.
Apple fans get far to exited and protective. This time over a collection of minor upgrades, even apple wouldn't call it the iPad3. It's like a cult getting quite worrying, I have an iPhone4 but the 4s wasn't worth upgrading to, and now unless they do something special with the 5 I'm going to have to jump ship away from the crazy, to something with ICS.
I think daily mail reader anon2 might have it right on this one....
anonymous 12 March, 2012 14:51
The guy in the right is the same guy queing up for the PS Vita......SADOO!!
killerpants 12 March, 2012 14:59
When i write something bad or a complaint about somebody. i always get my message removed off cnet.
anonymous 12 March, 2012 22:38
Thats the same guy who queued for the ps vita (http://www.techdigest.tv/2012/02/hundreds_queue.html)
He clearly doesn`t need to work! Theres has to be cooler ways to get you 5min fame!
anonymous 12 March, 2012 22:47
Oh I get it now! He bagged a home cinema system and huge number of games by being the first camped outside GAME flasgship store for the PS vita. Guess he hoping for a whole bonus of apple extras being the 1st at Apple store. He could sell all that extra stuff for more than a weeks nerd wages. Maybe he smarter than we giving him credit for.
anonymous 13 March, 2012 02:49
How are they affording ipads? they look about 15
anonymous 13 March, 2012 04:45
Wait so the 2 outside the store now are named Ali and Zohaib, and the guy from the PS Vita launch is named Zohaib Ali? Did they get the names wrong or what? Sounds weird!
anonymous 15 March, 2012 21:51
Why the negativity? If they are prepared to camp out and its not harming you so be it...
Every credit to them... I couldn't do it... The lad on the right is actually autistic and your snide online comments are not only sad but sad to read...
Apple products help him express himself despite his autism...
As for your comments about them giving Apple fans a bad name...
It was people like them who help shaped Apple...
Lighten up for god's sake!
