There comes a time in every laptop owner's life when they must lay down the dead corpse of their old laptop and suckle once again at the fingers of a highstreet salesperson, begging them to provide meaningful advice despite their obvious relation to an amoeba. There's a bewildering array of PC laptops to choose from at the moment, but this, the Samsung X50, is definitely one of the pretty ones.
Despite a 15.4-inch widescreen display and DVD-R it's ludicrously light (2.3kg). You can stuff up to 2GB of RAM into its body and the base unit comes with 128MB video RAM installed. Our X50 was welcomed at Crave by badly concealed gasps and whispers. It's been a while since we saw something truly light in these parts, mainly because of our recent preoccupation with heavy hardcore gaming machines like the Alienware Area 51m 7700. Thanks to such reviews our arms are stronger and more powerful than ever, which may have made the X50 seem lighter than it actually is. We'll be reviewing it in full soon -- provided our upper torsos can fit through the door to the testing labs. -CS
