Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is a 10-inch quad-core tablet

Huawei is hitting Mobile World Congress in full force -- not only has it unveiled the Ascend D Quad, which it claims is the world's fastest phone, it's also pulled back the curtain on the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD.

It's the world's first quad-core 10-inch tablet, combining what many say is the optimum screen size with some of the nippiest processing known to man. And it runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich too.

The quad-core processor is clocked at 1.5GHz. It's Huawei's own K3 model, rather than buying in a third-party option from the likes of Nvidia. Huawei claims it's the smallest quad-core processor in the industry, though to confirm that we'd have to crowbar one open to peek inside, and that might not go down too well on the Huawei stand.

But 3D games and HD video should look awesome. The screen resolution is an impressive 1,920x1,200-pixels, though there's no mention of it being 3D apart from the talk of games, so we'll have to wait for a hands-on to confirm. Stay tuned to see what we make of it.

The other specs are just as impressive: 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera on the back, and a 1.3-megapixel one on the front. On-board storage is 8GB, 16GB or 32GB, with a microSD slot for adding more.

But despite these heavyweight specs, the MediaPad 10 FHD is just 8.8mm thin, and weighs just 598g. So it shouldn't put too much strain on your poor lap.

On paper, this looks awesome. But of course a gadget's worth comes down to a lot more than just numbers. We'll bring you a hands-on as soon as we can, in the meantime let me know what you reckon in the comments below, or on our Facebook page.
