Like a suffering office worker the morning after a Christmas party forlornly mixing an Alka-Seltzer, EE has dropped two tablets. With a plink and another plink, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE and Google Nexus 7 are the first tablets to fizz up the UK's first 4G network.
The Nexus 7 isn't actually a 4G device, but comes with a Wi-Fi dongle to keep you connected while you're out and about.
The 7-inch Nexus 7 and the LTE version of the 10-inch Note 10.1 come with 3GB, 5GB or 8GB of data per month on a two-year contract.
If you sign up for The Nexus 7 with 3GB of data each month, it costs £50 up front with a monthly bill of £26. With 5GB of data, it costs £30 and £31 per month. For 8GB of data the up-front cost is also £30, but the monthly bill is £36. All the deals include a Huawei E589 Mobile Wi-Fi dongle to connect to the 4G network.
On the 3GB deal, the Note 10.1 costs £250, and then £26 per month for the next two years. On the 5Gb deal, it costs £200 and £31 each month. Opt for 8GB and you'll pay £100 up front, and £36 each month.
EE is the UK's first 4G network, formed from the merger of Orange and T-Mobile. It's available in selected cities at the moment, and offers phones such as the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE and HTC One XL.

I agree, 4G is so overrated. I can stream YouTube over 3G anytime, so who cares about have more speed. Just an excuse for these companies to make more money.

Virgin has a 3G/4G service (Not 4G LTE and not upgradable w/current plans/hardware) for their MiFi WiMAX - And Clear.com has a 4G/4G LTE WiMAX unlimited solution too for $40/mo.
This basically, completely obviates the need to use the phone with a regular cellphone account through any provider - You can simply use GoogleVoice, Skype, Jitsi+Kamailio, etc., for all of you telephony and video conferencing needs.
Like one person said above, 3G works fine when they want to stream youtube already, and considering that even though WiMAX services are advertising that they deliver 6Mpbs or so download speeds, the reality is much more like 2Mbps for the majority of folks reporting back on various review forums and sites.
One of the main problems with the Virgin Plan, is that (besides being capped and then throttled after that on the 4G side of the equation to what most people are reporting are dial-up speeds), their 3G service currently has a hard limit for the entire month and then shuts off completely...
Just three or four HD movies over Netflix and you're done for the month.
That having been said, as far as phone and video calling/conferencing, Google Voice turns your phone into a phone over 100% Internet connectivity - no reason to purchase a telephone plan at all!
The bandwidth for voice is negligible. Often in the range of less than 30Kbps, so it doesn't even matter if you've been throttled to dial-up'ish speeds over your WiMAX you still have ample bandwidth for quality phone service - for FREE! :)
The cell companies are trying to squeeze every uncomfortable penny from your pockets before they have to give up the ghost on pretending to still be delivering P.O.T.S. service over the PSTN to you ;)
I hope that helps!
