Dell Adamo XPS: Luxury laptop goes on a diet

On Wednesday, Dell offered a tantalising sneak peek at its revamped Adamo laptop, the Adamo XPS.

Dell spoke thus: "9/9/09 comes only once and, today, Dell is offering a glimpse of its highly stylised, thin, 9.99mm Adamo by Dell concept that's as beautiful as today's date is unique."

Putting aside the fact that the date in that format occurs every 100 years and is, therefore, not at all unique, the Adamo XPS looks set to reignite the contest for the title of 'world's thinnest laptop'. The original Adamo measured about 17mm thick. Apple's MacBook Air, which the Adamo models are designed to compete with, measures about 19mm thick. Fight!
