Apple's court-ordered statement -- which acknowledges Samsung didn't infringe upon its design patents -- has appeared in the paper today.
The logo-free, monochrome advert was spied on page 5 of today's edition of the Guardian. If you've seen the notice cropping up in any other papers this morning, let us know in the comments or on our Facebook wall.
The extremely bland box is simply titled 'advertisement', and unless you were looking for it, you'd never know it had been published by Apple. "On 9th July 2012," the matter-of-fact notice begins, "The High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled that Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited's Galaxy Tablet Computers, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe Apple's Community registered design No. 0000181607-0001."
Apple and Samsung have fought a fierce patent war across the globe, which has seen a $1bn ruling in Apple's favour in the US, and the Galaxy Tab 7.7 yanked from the show floor at an event last year.
Apple also has to acknowledge Samsung's innocence in this matter on its website, something the iPad-crafting company used as an opportunity to take another dig at Samsung, saying that "other courts have recognized that in the course of creating its Galaxy tablet, Samsung willfully copied Apple's far more popular iPad".
Yesterday, however, a UK judge deemed Apple's huffy first effort wasn't good enough, and that it would have to try again. Apple has removed the first statement from its UK homepage, and the revised acknowledgement should be popping up shortly.
Apple isn't strictly required to apologise per se, but a judge decreed it must publicly acknowledge the court's decision, in an effort to clear up any consumer confusion around which tablets to buy.
Apple's new tablet -- the iPad mini -- goes on sale in the UK today, but only generated a modest queue outside the company's flagship London shop.
Should Apple and Samsung continue to thrash it out? Or is it time we put all this silly patent nonsense to bed? Tell me your thoughts in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.

Apple has been forced to remove the lies in initial its public apology to Samsung. This printed version appears intentionally designed to be not noticed.
Apple demonstrates pathological arrogance and self-righteousness, and profound contempt for the courts and the law.
Apple could not manage a simple apology. They had to dilute it to such an extent that it becomes a hollow sorry and a bitter outburst riddled with lies. If they had simply done as the court ordered, this would all have been forgotten by now, but Apple's pathological mentality draws yet further attention to the falsehoods which the corporation and their loyal fanboys cling.
Apple is an embittered corporation facing terminal decline. Their latest results confirm that this is a business too dependent on iOS and iPhone above all -- at a time when these products are being rapidly eclipsed by much cheaper and much better alternatives.

Yet another attempt to dodge the court's ruling. Without a logo or at least a much clearer header, this is a statement that most readers are likely to ignore. Apple are clearly trying to "obey" the judge's orders whilst disasociating themselves from the print ads entirely. I'd be surprised if this isn't amended soon.

Apple should just quit making mobile products altogether and stick to laptops. Or better just shut down the company. They are so annoying.

Not being familiar with design No. 0000181607-0001, I have no idea what the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 don't infringe.
Thanks Apple for making things so clear. Just like Apple Maps really.

Trying to make a mockery of the British judicial system, apple should be fined, this new notice is not an apology, people won't notice this, they should be asked to write it again, like in school if the teacher wasn't satisfied, arrogant company

Apple should have checked what the story above their print would be as anything involving a stuffed anaconda & £ 10k bill will be read so naturally eyes will see their advert below.
Me, I need to go find the story on the anaconda!

Why, hello @Tim Acheson! Nice to see you here as well. I see you've kept a little rancour up your spleen for other tech comment threads.

Quite the bunch of stuffed shirts here today. Harrumph indeed! :)

@georg55 The British judicial system is a mockery. The amount of cases I've seen and heard where the judge has been biased and unfair or frankly just been a seemingly-uneducated, useless ***** is laughable. <br />
<br />
I think Apple are pretty pathetic for their behaviour too, but don't for a second suggest that here in Britain our governmental 'services' are in anyway respectable.

Where is Tim Cooks judgement / leadership in this whole apology fiasco? I think this whole disrespect to the court of law by Apple displays their arrogance and how up their own ar5e they really are.
The buck has to stop with Tim on this one even if the blind arrogant culture of Apple is determining his actions.

another snippet of news is they've lost a court case in Mexico, which cost them 40% of the iphone sales sold there in the last 5 years. What's the old saying what "what goes around comes around"
Stuart Perchard 3 November, 2012 11:16
sorry that's could cost them 40%
anonymous 3 November, 2012 13:27
Well this apology is uncalled for, any normal human being sees how blatantly Samsung copies every single product Apple makes, from mobile phones to tablets to laptops. And actually, the only reason people buy Samsung tablets is because they look like Apple.
Stuart Perchard 3 November, 2012 15:16
is that right, I would never have thought that unless it was pointed out to me, poor Apple :-)

@anonymous 13:27
yeah beacause when i got my daughter her galaxy tab 7.1 it looked Exactly like an iPad....hmmmmm.....
please iSheep the comments section doesnt need your pathetic arrogance and it doesnt need you defending Apple and their range of iFail device! its just FACT that the competition has surpassed apple in EVERY Way but apple are too childish to admit it instead making court cases out of anything.....most of which they are losing....even on home soil, they even tried to argue the Galaxy s3 looked like an iphone.......HA Tim Cook must be blind and mentally unfit to run a company!
anonymous 4 November, 2012 23:51
@anonymong 13:27 you are so stupid how can they copy every product if crapple only make one phone just release new gens every year. I struggle to understand how people can be so blind and ignorant, I suppose your just trapped by the rotten apple! LOL

"Apple isn't strictly required to apologise per se, but a judge decreed it must publicly acknowledge the court's decision..." So why does this article use the word apology in the headline?
WTF? Can you imagine calling someone a 'murderer' in the headline, and than down at the bottom of the article mentioning, "oh by the way, they didn't actually kill anyone"
