Apple 15-inch MacBook Air incoming?

A bigger MacBook Air is on the way. That's according to a Japanese blog, reported by BGR.

Though it could be a slimmer MacBook Pro, rather than an Air. Whatever Apple decide to call it, it looks like a super slim 15-inch MacBook will be added to the range soon. Start saving now.

A rumour surfaced in July that Apple had entered late testing stages with the device. The 15-inch LCDs are finished, according to the rumour, which would signal a new MacBook is imminent.

Apple updated the MacBook Pro range last week, but it was a pretty minor update, adding faster processors and not much else. There wasn't even an announcement, it was that low key. We brought you news in September new MacBook Pros would be coming this year, fingers crossed it's the new slimmer version rather than the recent refresh. Though realistically it'll most likely be next year before we see this 15-inch beaut.

Apple currently sells 11- and 13-inch MacBook Airs. The MacBook Pros use an optical hard drive and generally pack more processing power, so Apple could be ditching the optical drive to slim down the Pro to Air-esque dimensions.

A 17-inch extra slim model could also be in the works, according to similar rumours in July. A slimmer Pro would be likely to feature Intel's Sandy Bridge chip and Thunderbolt port, as well as do away with the CD drive, as seems to be the way forward. The current MacBook Air also lacks an Ethernet port, so it'd be unlikely to feature on a slim 15-incher.

What would you like to see in a slim 15-inch Apple laptop? And how much would you be willing to pay? Let us know in the comments below, or on our Facebook page.
