Here's some news that might make you want to have a little lie down. A new Android tablet is heading for Blighty, but it's not made by one of those high-falutin', hoity-toity technology companies -- the Andy Pad is made by cheap-mattress vendor Mattressman.
The full specification for the device isn't yet available, but it's expected to have a 7-inch touchscreen and run Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, rather than the tablet-optimised Android Honeycomb.
Mattressman's business-development director, George Eastmead, told Know Your Mobile that the Andy Pad will pack a "competitive processor", offer a 1080p HDMI output and "be able to run the latest 3D games".
He also suggested the Andy Pad would be cheaper than the Advent Vega was at launch -- £250 -- when it's released in September. The Vega runs Android 2.2 Froyo and uses a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, which suggests we'll see a similar chip in the Andy Pad.
The teaser picture on the Andy Pad website also indicates the tablet will have a thin, white bezel.
Eastmead reckons the Andy Pad "is going to be the tablet for the guy who wants an iPad, but can't afford it". Well, let's just hope it's better than Next's Android tablet.
We'll have a review for you before you can say: "Can a tablet from a mattress vendor possibly not suck to an unprecedented extent?" Stay tuned.

Its made by one of those 1000's of Chinese factories not by mattress vendor.
That is called OEM.
The mattress vendor just stick his brand on the product, that's all.

From the picture of the lower half of the device I can see that it is a cheap chineese import. it does not look like it has been developed specifically for mattressman. I bet 10 bucks that we will see the same tablet on eBay for less then they will sell it for. Why is a mattress firm moving into the tablet Market? Me thinks the CEO of mattressman has been smoking too much crack.
