Eee PC 1000HD: Another Asus netbook announced
In the space of seven months, Asus brought us the
Eee PC 701, Eee PC 900, Eee PC 901, Eee PC 904 and Eee PC 1000. But it's not finished yet on its quest for mini laptop domination. Meet the Eee PC 1000HD.
If you love the size and ample screen of the Eee PC 1000 netbook series, but want to retain a little old school charm in your devices, the 1000HD could be for you. It doesn't care for the performance and battery life of these new-fangled Atom chips from Intel. No siree. Buying surplus is the way to go and this Eee PC is more than happy with the 900MHz Celeron processor found on the pioneering version.
Who needs a solid-state drive anyway? We break enough stuff as it is! An 80GB SATA hard disk has loads of storage capacity and gives added heft for security. Plus, the 1000HD has the 1000's 10-inch display and boasts up to 5 hours of battery life.
No details on UK availability or pricing are available yet, but you can be sure that when Asus delivers this next bab-Eee, we'll be there with bells on. -Darius Chang
