Samsung P200: The £600 12-inch laptop

Laptops

We've just got word of a titchy new laptop from Samsung with some pretty interesting, if ridiculously named features. The P200 comes with 'Protect-o-SoftGrip', which translates roughly in English as 'a rubber casing'. Then there's 'Protect-o-Edge', which means 'sturdy'. Finally, the P200 supports Silver Nano Technology. That means it has nano-sized silver ion powder on the keyboard to keep it 'bacteria-free'.

Apart from that it's very similar to the Samsung Q45. It has a 12.1-inch, 1,280x800-pixel screen, so it's on the small end of the thin-and-light scale, although it weighs a surprisingly lardy 1.9kg (pushing it out of the ultraportable range). It boasts the latest Core 2 Duo chip tech and ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 graphics.

The best thing about the P200, however is the price. It's set to cost in the region of £600, for which you get a 2GHz T7250 CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 200GB hard drive. Not bad, considering you'd pay more than twice the price for a MacBook Air.

A full review is probable, so stay tuned. -Rory Reid
