Packard Bell EasyNote MB: Fake white hope

Laptops

Back in July we brought you news of some Packard Bell laptops, the star of which was the 15.4-inch EasyNote MB. Four months later, we got one of our own to play with.

It's one of the most contentious laptops we've ever seen. Some of us like it, some of us would rather scratch our own eyes out with a rake than go anywhere near it.

The problem is it's white, and only Macs are allowed to be white. Anything else is labelled as a copycat at best, or a piece of ivory-coloured turd at worst. We don't agree, but the fact it has a beige keyboard, circular mouse trackpad and orange stripes on the side really doesn't help.

Whatever you think of its looks, there's no arguing with its value. It comes with a 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo T5450 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive and an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS graphics card -- all for £699.

It's great for students, cheapskates, student cheapskates, and anyone not averse to the Packard Bell brand. Or orange. Pick one up from Dixons now. -Rory Reid
