Toshiba's Portégé S100 laptop is all business
Are you an elite business node, sharp suited, one arm swinging an attache case stuffed with embezzled pension funds, the other clasping a Motorola Razr, shoes glistening like justice -- freshly polished by the hotel bell boy? Then you need a Toshiba Portégé S100. It's a sleek, silver, no-nonsense laptop, packed with components as stern as a libel lawyer and dependable as Krugerrands. Ours arrived this morning and we've not smiled since.
These glum faces aren't on account of a bad experience with the S100, far from it -- this thing works like a first-year intern at Goldman Sachs: fast and furious. A 1.86GHz Pentium processor chugs away in this unremarkable chassis. The pre-installed 512MB of RAM is perfect for Excel and extensive PowerPoint presentations, but neither the CPU nor the RAM will cooperate with a game like Peter Jackson's King Kong.
What are games to the socio-economic supreme anyway? In the laptop yearbook of 2005, the S100 is listed as: Least likely to distract you from your long-term financial goals. Expect a full review soon. -CS
