Sky Sports now on Now TV for £10 per day, with no contract

You can now watch live Premier League games and a range of sporting action as it happens right on your smart phone or tablet, as Sky Sports comes to Now TV for a tenner a day.

Now TV is Sky's online catch-up and on-demand service for those of who have don't want to fork out for a dish. Sporting highlights set for Now TV include Barclays Premier League and UEFA Champions League matches, Formula 1 Grand Prix races, the Lions tour of Australia, Ashes Test cricket, golf, including the Masters, and ATP tennis.

Sport on Now TV costs £10 for 24 hours access to all six Sky Sports channels. Whether that's good value or not depends on what sports you're into. If you want to watch a full day of a sport like cricket, golf or Formula 1, then it's not too bad. Or perhaps there's a few games on that day that you want to see.

But you have to really want to see the game if you're forking out a tenner for a single football match, unless you get some mates round and have a whip-round -- which doubtless won't impress the landlord of your local.

You can watch Now TV on your phone, tablet or computer, as well sa selected games consoles and set-top boxes, including the Xbox 360 and Roku box. The service also offers dish-free access to Sky Movies channels on your phone, tablet and computer.

Is Now TV good value? How do you watch TV online? Tell me your thoughts in the comments, or on our Facebook page.

Right, I'm off to see if I can round up ten friends to each chuck in a nugget for the big game next weekend, when title-chasing pride of Merseyside, Tranmere Rovers, take on Stevenage. Guys? Guys...?

What sort of idiot would actually pay that price for a 24 hour service only?

Extortionate animals - that's what Murdoch and his lackeys are.

Err, the price of a cinema ticket is about £10 and a lot of people are happy to pay even though a film only lasts around 2 hours. I'm not sure it's that pricey.

Of course the subscription is better value, but I might use this for the very occasional times I have time to watch a big game.

The real question though for me, is it a hi-def stream?

Pretty disappointing that they don't offer say a £15-20 add on for Sky Sports per month for unlimited access without subscription. Apparently they were going down that route in the beginning but did a u turn and decided the ridiculous price of £10 per day. Looks like ill be sticking with sky sports tv on my ipad for £5 per month for everything. May not be HD but it will do!

I stand corrected. You're the kind of idiot that would most likely pay for this 24 hour service.

As to the comparison with a film in the cinema, the main point is that one cannot go to a friend's house or down to the local pub and watch a newly released film. However, one can indeed watch any sports that is on at a friend's place or down the local pub.

Therefore, to reiterate, this service is expensive and won't be popular at all.

No extra devices added and only available on small screen android phones (No Android Tablets supported by NOWTV) all for the grand price of £9.99 per 24hrs. Now if somebody can inform me of the business sense of this app at £9.99 per 24hrs and that of the Sky Sports TV app priced at £4.99 per month on a rolling contract, that supports a lot more phones (still no Android Tablets) then please help me out and explain it to me, after all I'm only a thick Welshman that lives in a cave in them dem hills.

It's not HD which should be the deal breaker. The quality of the stream is the same as Sky Go, which is only okay. Sky Go has a tendency to get really laggy during the big sports events, and pretty unwatchable. I'd be worried paying money for this whether or not I'd be able to watch the event at all.

Sky are notorious for showing one actual good Premier League football match over the weekend. The matches start earlier on Saturday than they do on Sunday, so that means watching a single match and a bunch of old films during the course of the 24 hours.

Reeks of desperation on the part of Sky. It's pathetic.

Someone should make them aware that as previously stated I would rather go to a friends, the pub or even stream the game than pay £10 for a single day so it's actually losing them money not making them money.
At £5 for a day however I would use the service maybe two or 3 times per month vs 0 times per month. It's pretty simple math.
I currently pay £6 per month for Netflix which lets me watch movies and tv episodes unlimited for the month, so sky have made a huge mistake with their pricing on this
