It’s small, sleek and guaranteed to get you mugged on the tube. The Samsung Portable Media Centre is a Media Centre PC in a pocket-sized chassis, that will set you back a cool £300. Like its full-sized relatives, the Samsung plays back TV, music and movies.
This silver dumpling arrived yesterday, and we’ve only had a few hours to play with it, but so far so good.
The demo movies stuttered to begin with, but once things got rolling the playback seemed fairly smooth. The picture on the Samsung is a little dull, but we’re going to fiddle with the contrast controls and see if this makes a difference. We haven’t tried transferring any movies to the Samsung yet, but the manual claims 80 hours of storage – almost enough to see you through a journey on the District Line. We look forward to putting it through its paces. -CS
