Photos: LG's solar Bluetooth hands-free car kit

Call quality was very good. I chatted to a dozen different callers in different environments -- London's traffic-clogged streets, quiet car parks and noisy motorways -- and we were both very clear to one another. As I'd expected, callers did point out it was obvious from the echo that I was on a hands-free, but they found me perfectly legible. From my previous experience of Parrot and Jabra car kits, I'd say this was easily on a par for voice quality.

I like this solar car kit. While it clearly won't do much to avert any climate catastrophes, it is also unlikely to ever need plugging into the mains and does its job with a workmanlike competence. The LG HFB-500 goes on sale in June 2008, and is expected to set you back between £55 and £65.
