Nokia reclaims green crown in Greenpeace guide (and Nintendo still sucks)

The ninth edition of Greenpeace's Greener Electronics Guide has seen mobile giant Nokia reclaim the number one slot from Sony and Sony Ericsson. Greenpeace singled out Nokia and Samsung for their eco improvements, while Nintendo was once again ranked as the worst electronics company for its environmental record.

Nokia scores 7 out of 10, mainly due to its recycling scheme in India. Samsung clocked in second with a 5.9 score, partly thanks to energy efficiency in its gadgets. Nokia, which unveiled concept eco phones earlier this year (pictured), dropped behind rival Sony Ericsson in the previous edition of Greenpeace's guide.

Greenpeace's latest guide, which ranks consumer tech companies on energy efficiency, recycling schemes and toxic chemical phase-out, sees Nintendo languishing in bottom place with a score of 0.8. Nintendo's been in the bottom slot since November 2007.

Apple came in for some praise in the report, largely due to its recent green iPod news.
