Kenwood Energy Sense joins eco kettle battle
Kenwood has joined the ranks of kettles designed to save you cash, energy and time. Taking on the three major eco kettles, its Energy Sense JK450 uses a simple transparent case to help you boil the right amount of water. And it comes packaged in a recycled card box for extra greenie points. But is it worth considering over its rivals, the Tefal Quick Cup and Eco Kettle?
The short answer is yes, but only because of the cheap £30 price, which is the same as the classic of the genre, the Eco Kettle. What you're getting here, however, is a very basic kettle that relies on you filling the right amount. By comparison, the Tefal Quick Cup boils water instantly, making it nigh-on impossible to boil too much.
As SmartPlanet readers have pointed out, you can always turn your existing kettle into an 'eco kettle'. Just measure the water into a mug before boiling it.
The Kenwood JK450's product page has more details and you can read reviews of the other three eco kettles here.
