Sony's PlayStation Network could be out of action until the end of the month. A Sony spokesman has told Bloomberg that online services including Qriocity and the PlayStation Network won't be fully restarted until 31 May -- when the services will have been offline for a whopping 41 days.
The plan is to reopen online services gradually. Sony's online gaming and entertainment services have been offline since 20 April, when they were closed in response to a massive breach of security.
Personal and financial details of more than 100 million users were stolen in what Sony has called a "very carefully planned, very professional, highly sophisticated criminal cyber attack". Sony also claims attacks by online protest group Anonymous allowed the thieves to carry out the cyber heist while the company was distracted.
Sony said last week that its sites would be up and running by now, but the company has admitted that in an official blog post that it was "unaware of the extent of the attack on Sony Online Entertainment servers". Sony is "taking this opportunity to conduct further testing of the incredibly complex system", and "will update you with more information as soon as we have it".
Sony hasn't yet offered any more information on compensation for those affected. Subscribers to the online services will be given a month of free access, as well as free downloads. US users have been offered free identity theft cover, but there's been no word on compensation for UK and European users.
Can you wait until the end of the month to get back to your online gaming, or is the delay driving you nuts? Will you return to the Sony fold, or has the company blown it in your eyes? And where will you go instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook wall.

Don't get your hopes up about the free games. They will probably be two crumby PS1 games, couple of PS Minis and an old poor selling PS3 game. All of them will be games produced by Sony or financed by Sony, so will cost them nothing.
anonymous 9 May, 2011 15:46
PSN is scheduled to be fully restored BEFORE the end of May - which is to say that many aspects of the service could be restored well before that date, starting with online play. The store and additional features will be restored afterwards, but again, not AT the end of May, but BEFORE then.
The headline of this news article is extremely unfair and misleading.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 15:52
Not being able to game online is really pissing me off! Additionally, my patience ran out this weekend when the network failed to restart as promised. Being offline for this amount of time is completely unacceptable.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 15:56
This is a little misleading. Sony has previously said that service would be restored gradually, with online gaming coming sooner, but the PlayStation Store not being brought online until the end of the month
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 15:58
Most of the news that is headlining most sites at the minute is old and not worth reading like the above article, my advice is only believe the official sony statements, although there arn't enought updates from sony about the current situation in my opinion which is why journalists and other people around the world are starting to make up there own storys. Wish people would stop making up there own storys.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 15:59
will the online gaming be back before the 31st may if not im ditching ps3 ive held on for 3 weeks wilest folk i know have already went to xbox im williugn to wait a wile longer but not untill the 31st thats a complete piss take my console is for online gaming only i cant play single player its boring !
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:00
It really is not the end of the world, yea its annoying but its not like we pay for the service and to be honest I'd rather they took a bit longer and made it secure. I have other things to do in life apart from playing online games.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:03
no one says it was the end of the world i bought high speed broadband and a ps3 for online gaming i havent botherd much about it ive waited 3 weeks done things went out had a good time but ive been getting told since late april a few days now its the 31st of may all im saying is no chance im waiting a further 3 weeks when come that time it could be another few weeks can easily play the same games on another consol
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:05
Already moved to xbox 360. Now its ps3 to start gathering the dust for a while...
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:07
it seems like such a waste of money to have to buy a new console, buy new games and pay for an online subscription for the sake of 2/3 weeks. Plus as other people have commented theyre not bringing everything back up AT the end of the month, it will all be brought up gradually BY the end of the month.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:17
I have to admit that I have been playing Xbox online. I did have one before PSN went offline though but think I might stick with it now.
41 days offline is nuts for a company like sony.
Scotty_1991 9 May, 2011 16:18
this is becoming a joke now :\ i am going to end up buying a xbox when i dont want to as i had one last year and it sucked to ust to playstation, i hope they get it up and running quicker than the end on this month if not then al have no choice than to buy xbox because i dont play single player i got the ps3 for online and now its down only thing left is xbox !!!!
hackerslayer 9 May, 2011 16:22
oh yo my feet turned blackie chans and if u take down psn i will turn my blackie chans feet into ps3 one u will nerver forget it ok bye
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:24
WTF hell no ! reading ur useless comments sony just give us date no BS
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:29
I am thinking about moving back to xbox to be honest.. I think this absolutely unacceptable, in my eyes for a company this big and well known around the world who are dealing with hundreds of millions of users personal and financial details.. Surely they would have the common sense to be able to protect and stop anything like this happeneing as it is putting millions of people at risk of so many things..
And as for the compensation side of it, why do other countries get special treatment.. And i don't believe that there will be free downloads etc to all effected by this and if there is i don't reckon it will be much to look forward to... Its about time sony sorted this out and sure as hell make sure nothing like this ever happens again!!!!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:31
it has been delayed about 20 bloody times
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:32
Sorry but is this really the end of the world. I like my games but am no slave to them - I have a family with 2 small kids and am using my extra free time to do things with them - that's a bonus in all our eyes. The only thing that has hacked me off a little are the potential problems regarding my personal details, but even I'm not that concerned about that - my credit rating is poor anyway, so won't be of much use to anyone.
I think you have to seriously look at your life priorities if you're thingking of buying a whole new console and subscription service, just for the sake of an additional 3 week wait.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:45
No come on now ; seriously Sony is a huge world wide company but 41 days with no online is taking the piss now dont you think? And now ive lost my patience forget ps3 and i thought il never say this but might aswell move to the X - Box... FIX UP SONY!!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:51
You should give everyone with Ps3. Free map packs for any game, some of the games and at least 100 pounds in our playstation wallets
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:55
I agree with that definately...
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:56
I have phoned them up there said no its not end of month its going to be very shortly servers r up and there r testing them after that its going to be yp that was three days ago
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 16:57
I only bought myself a PS3 at the start of the year, I waited so long because I wanted a massive load of titles at rock bottom prices along with bundled GOTY updates. I've spent about two hundred pounds on a bollock load of games, none of them are really built around the multi-player aspect and I'm a completionist so I think I'll be safe in my bunker until at least 2014.
It's annoying that the network is down but, for me at least, I'm not depending on it.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:03
the guy who agreed with my statement thank you
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:03
absolute joke sony hope all your customers move over 2 xbox and put u out of business
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:05
they are taking the piss now. just tell us all the truth and stop getting our hopes up then letting us down. we deserve that at least
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:06
You can blame PSN for everything. THey couldn't spend some millions on protecting us and our info, and also protecting service. They make billions on us and they can't spend millions. I'm so pissed right now that I have to wait another few weeks to a month, that I might just turn on PSN just out of spite of them not giving a flying F@#$.
I have always talked so highly of Playstation and I how I love there controllers over any controller, and how there machine is better then anyone elses, and of corse how nice it is to not have to pay for online, But this has to be the worst customer service in the history of customer service and probably will be that way for a long time. And if PSN thinks they can make it up to us all by giving us ten dollars free credit and psn plus for a month is going to make up for this redonkulous F up, then they are all really retarded or they aren't really doing much over there but drinking lots of sokie and laughing at how stupid we all look. And of corse when that fourth prediction of may 31 comes around and PSN still doesn't come up then, I'm sure most people will never trust anything that psn ever says again.
and psn will do the almost impossible and make Xbox look like the better option.
anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:11
Pull your finger out SONY, this is becoming more pathetic by the hour! At the end of the day the network outage is down to you! YOU knew the network was substanded but chose to ignor its problems & lack of security! ONCE leader in the games console market, now a floundering company & you have only got your selfs to blame for it! Do you really think that the lack of communication to your customers on the PLAYSTAION NETWORK problems & a bundle of pathetic free-bees that you have promised will encourage users to stay? Get real........i for one will be buying an XBOX! I dont & i expect im not the only one who minds paying to go online knowing that when i do my PERSONAL information is safe & secure which is what you get on the XBOX LIVE NETWORK!!! Take a page out of MICROSOFTs book & take some of your profits to make the PLAYSTATION NETWORK reliable, safe & secure!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:12
AGREED! ^^
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:15
They should at least give everyone a free mic, seeing it costs ten dollars to make at most, and it costs over fifty dollars to buy. Also free map packs for everyone and get them out soon and not take a half a year.
But most important. You make sure when those servers are put back online, that they work faster and can
take on more people. don't ever put your customers in this senerio again!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:15
You know Microsoft must have been pissing there pants laughing at you Sony
Thinking HA You flop. Sony Fix UP! - kavir
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:24

IV'E STOOD BY PLAYSTATION FOR YEARS BUT NOW MAY BE A TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!
MAN UP SONY & STAND FOR YOUR PROMISES!!!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:35

Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:45
Xbox charge £60 quid a year for subscription, and the pad is s**t and unresponsive.. f**k it ill wait for Sony .. maybe it ill be back by this week the online gaming anyway.. Microsoft are the real hackers..
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:45
Will Sony give me the money back I paid for my ps3 so I can by an Xbox360 ????
anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:47
Im very angry about the situation with psn my son is changing to xbox he bought £25 pound to spend online and still cant buy any thing
anonymous 9 May, 2011 17:48
'Take as long as they need'.............................your missing the point! Its there fault they got hacked in the first place!!!! They expect customers to trust them after this?? They KNEW there system was 'OUT OF DATE' & that the FIREWALLS which were inplace (IF ANY!) were substanded! If they cared about there customers non of this would of happened in the first place! Great way to win back customers who have allready gone to XBOX!!!! I cant see a way back from this major F**K UP! Im a dedicated Playstaion user & have been since day one but i would rather pay to know my PERSONAL DETAILS & CREDIT CARD INFO is SAFE!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:01
I love how every1 can just go out and buy an X box like they say on this blog, u must all have a lot of expendable income/rich daddies!

HAHA! UNLUCKY NOOB PS3 FAN BOYS I CAN PLAY ONLINE AND U CANT.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:12
i know psn is free but this is becomming a joke we pay enough for the actuall games so in my mind online gaming is part of that price.i play black ops the most and the amount of cheating that goes on in thoes on line games is beyond a joke so psn getting hacked is no suprise to me hopefully theve invested in better servers
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:17
THE PERSON THAT FLIPPING HACKED IT SHUD DIE...THIS IS REALY IRRATATING NOW AND DO HOPE IT CUMS BAK VERY SOOON.........C'MON SONY
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:24
I Dont Give A Rats As Sony Yall BSING Around Lieing To Me And 77 Million Others Yall Need To Get Yall Crap Together Cause Yall Lost Me With The Crap Yall Sending Give Us The Rite INFO We Is Worth That Anit We The 1s That Put The In Yall Pockets And Yall Cant Give Us The Rite Info Get Yall Crap Together Sony
anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:24
the worse thing about sony and the psn saga has been the lies and lack of info to us customers.if these rumours are true and psn wont be bk on till the end of may, then thats just more ignorance from sony not to let us no that info from them 1st.
there head guys in japan even bowed in apology and said psn would be bk by end of the week, well another lie from them.well if there top guys are lying to us and no info from psn, then what are we to believe from this company which has left millions of its customers in the dark.
its disgusting from a company of there size.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:24
Anyone that says they're switching to Xbox is stupid - good riddance, enjoy paying through the nose just to go online. What a waste of money just so you can go online for a couple more weeks, bye then I'll enjoy all PS3's superior exclusives on my own. There's much more to games than playing online, noobs
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:24
I WOULD LOVE TO SHOVE A MACHETE THROUGH THE BALLS OF THE GUY WHO HACKED PS3
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:30
If it is coming back by the end of the month it is very disapointing, especially for a company like sony. I will wait for it but I am definately not buying an xbox. All I want to know is an actual date for when it is to come back online. Is that too much to ask?
I heard it was to cme back online by the end of this week
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:43
What is the point in giving us a month extra of PS Plus if the service is going to have been down for over a month.... Im a PS Plus subscriber, and to the fellow subscribers once the network hits over 1 month downtime PSN will have to give us either 2 months of PS Plus to cover the extra days or reimburse the days missed and give us the complementary month.
As for the games, sent a huge complaint telling them that no amount of crappy £10 games will buy our trust back
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:45
I had set aside money for new games and gear this month, bought myself an iPad and some Xbox games instead. It's obvious Sony can't be trusted, not only can we not trust them with our personal information but you can't trust their word either, feels very much like "we've got your money so we're in no rush"
As for the promised free content, will probably only be worth pennies as it will be old out dated software that most of us left behind on consoles like ps1.
The customer care and service Sony has shown during this fiasco shows their true colours. They are quick enough to use my email when I top up my wallet but can't use it to keep us up to date !
Poor show Sony, you don't deserve our repeat business !!!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:51
While everybody is sat here blaming Sony, and yes they have to take a preportion of the blame for not ensuring the network was acceptable for storing personale data adequately, I for one would prefer them to be allowed the time to properly ensure the next network is of a far better quality, and therfore will allow us to play games without the fear of this happening again not that any thing can be 100% safe.
So think about all the things you said you want to do and start to do them until such time as we can all get back to playing games.
As I can promise you this from personel experience, the worst thing that can happen in your life is not the PSN going off line and if it is you will be one lucky son of a b-tch.

WHY BOTHER BUYING XBOX??? U HAVE TO PAY FOR ONLINE GAMING!! REMEMBER XBOX LIVE WAS DOWN FOR TWO SOLID WEEKS!!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 18:53
HURRY UP!
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 19:27
1) PSN is NOT free. It is paid for in the price of the games. They are generally more expensive than the 360 versions.
2) Xbox Live is £30/ year on Amazon.
3) I've been pro ps3 since launch. This entire farce is totally UNACCEPTABLE and I'm going to buy an Xbox. I will make it my mission not to buy another Sony product again.
4) A NEW network could have been built in the time the PSN has been down. The company has the money and the resources.
5) The hacker group ANONYMOUS was NOT to blame for this. Pony are using them as the scapegoat.
6) Ultimate blame rests on the companys' shoulders for failing to maintain network security, implement proper data security and having no back up systems.
7) I have a life, but this is out of principle. I'm not receiving a service i have paid for and regularly use, as a result of having my personal data harvested.
8) Personal data loss, lack of communication, delayed information, deceiving 100 million customers on when the service will be resumed; the ultimate example of how not to do business.
9) The only way to show this company how you feel is not to purchase any more of their products & services.
Wingman.

anonymous 9 May, 2011 19:48
yes, we would all love psn being bk on and safer than ever,i accept that.to me its the lies and false promises and really bad lack of info from sony and psn that as really annoyed me.
they should get rid of there head media guy, cause he sure aint doing his job at keeping customers informed of this situation.
i did go out to get an x box at weekend, but didnt get it cause i realized how much i have spent on games and other equipment 4 the ps3.
but dam sony thats how close you were to making me get an xbox.
give us customers the truth,if it is up at the end of may, then so be it. just let us no something positive.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 20:33
what about the gamers who payed £40 for playstation plus
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 22:03
LOL you XBOX idiots atleast sony have told us the system was hacked. How long has the 360 been hacked for and still no notification from microsoft. Sony took a big loss shutting down their servers to protect us. I would wait till next month for a more secure system locking PS3s from noobs that can't play the games properley or those sad enough they need to steal from kids (yes you F*CKs) and have to hack a console. Although the updates are taking far too long to come on the blog when they do they are honest not like MS.
Anonymous 9 May, 2011 22:05
If you already have PLUS you get 30 days added to your annual subscription.
Anonymous 10 May, 2011 02:15
this weekend when psn failed to go back online i sold my ps3 and did the only thing to i swor not to do i bought MW2 on pc and finally gamed after 2 weeks without gaming
Anonymous 10 May, 2011 09:22
WOW ..... you lot need to get out more. Is only gaming, there is a real world outside your four walls.
Yeah the servers down, so find a hobby for a month and do yourselves a favour.
Your moaning about paying for Xbox. £40 a year, £3.33 a month, which is 76 pence a week, or 11 pence a day. Doesn't seem so bad now hay?? You can affird not to pay for it.
And if Sony had put their customers first, put money into their servers (like Xbox do) and made the system less easier to hack, this problem would may have not been averted, but would have been dealt with quicker.

PSN Restoration Timeline UpdateCountries: AE, AU, GB, IE, NZ
I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.
getting beyond a joke now
Anonymous 10 May, 2011 23:57
The delays in service do not really affect me as I am not a big games player... however I was simply furious that having to HAVE to register a credit card in order to be able to use the PSN in ANY way (i.e. one was literally forced to), that Sony were not more vigilant in keeping my and many others personal data safe!! For a start, I had to cancel my card and order a replacement (which clearly affected other online systems that the old card was registered with, so they all had to be updated too!)... but for someone, ANYONE, to have gained access to ALL of my matching personal details beyond that is just an appalling scenario for any online company to be guilty of, let alone a big company like Sony! And then to not communicate the error for nearly two weeks during which time someone could have been USING my card details unbeknownst to me... and THEN offer such a weak response in terms of reasons and apology, together with such a disgracefully "cheap" offering by way of compensation... shame on you Sony... I certainly will never trust my details to your PSN network again.
Anonymous 11 May, 2011 03:14
think of it this way, if a place is never SERIOUSLY attacked, how would they have the protection against such an attack? Do you think the CIA and the Pentagon, and the FBI started with really high security? Hell no! hackers would find a way in, and they would patch it. It's an ongoing fight between security developers and hackers. Any hacker used to be able to change traffic lights way back when. It's just like a disease in a way, you have to study how it works to fight it or prevent it. With that being said, when was the last SERIOUS attack on the PS3 system that made them take the network down for a week or more? I honestly can't think of one as long as I've owned the ps3. So maybe they are not only protecting against how these hackers got in, but they are adding more protection and separating the databases and servers so access is more limited between 'authorized systems'. Also maybe adding ways to detect intruders? I'm sure if someone really wanted to, they could hack any of us. Then what would we do? We'd increase our protection, right?
The ignorance and laziness in this country amazes me because this is the age of information, all you have to do is look something up and you can learn it, but most people are too lazy to do such.
Anonymous 11 May, 2011 05:17
i just wanna play fifa11 online, ive bult my team by spending a fortune and now i cant play, i just wanna bang in a few goals with david villa lol, im not into that modern warfare crap, i have thought about buying a xbox but then i think maybe thats what this is all about, i bet microsoft have attacked sony so they can get their customers, its that specky bill gates the faggits fault, trust me coz playstation is much better than 360crap, so microsoft was jelous, anyway im just being patient and playing single player games, clocked yakuza4 brilliant game, sony get your act together before you lose all your customers.
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 10:05

This is life. There are always going to be hackers, terrorists, natural disasters, etc. And its an on going cycle of breach > add security > breach > add security > breach...and on and on. Whether it is weather (tsunami and nuclear power plants and walls that didn't hold up), hackers getting credit cards, 9/11 (oh look, who would have thought terrorists would fly planes into the world trade center...time to up airport security until the next attack).....and ON AND ON.
And I bet there network is complex...look at all that it does!!!! I will wait...within reason...for this network to come back up as long as it is done right! I like the Sony product and this alone will not stray me away. Just do the right thing and lets get back to some Call of Duty!!!!!
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 14:41
why in the hell is the gaming servers not separate from the damm psn store??????? who cares about the psn store and that quarky music shyt lets just get da games back online
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 14:54
To all you people that say your going to buy an xbox 360, GO SUCK ONE!!. You don't know what Sony has to do to fix the PSN, It's a very complex process, and i feel they are trying their best to fix the PSN. I bet if all u PSN haters were in Sony's position, u would have no clue what u are doing. So SHUT UP!! and there is more to life than online games, play singleplayer, and if u find that boring, then you are all NOOBS!!
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 14:55
Personally, The Whole situation is a joke. Sony Should be held accountable not only in US, But by our own UK government. If was up to me I would sue them for a least £100 million pounds. For the incredible lapse in judgement and for the way this whole fiasco is being handled. People's details exposed on a system that wasn't secure enough. "Not Good Sony, Not Good enough."
I am not going to accept anything from Sony, free downloads or otherwise. I want nothing from them.
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 14:56
game station told me today that psn will be available by the weekend for online gaming only !!!!! you wont be able to buy or download anything !! so heres hoping but i wont hold my breath lol..... if its not back by monday then its an xbox 4 me :(
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 14:58
I really cannot understand why they haven't come 'round to the simplest solution of all. Don't give those hackers anything to target. Remove all credit card details. Do not store it. Let the shopper enter their personal details when shopping (the browser can retain that data IF THEY WANT). Then it is no longer Sony's responsibility. To draw an analogy... Sony then just maintain the Roads we use (psn) we have our own cars (ps3s) to use on the road. we don't need sony to store our driving licences (credit card details) in their drawer (servers).
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 15:02
microsoft needs now to add what ps3 has over it ( bluray, larger hdds, etc ) if that where to happen .
BYE BYE Sony !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 15:07
And another thing.... People losing their rag over this is a little ridiculous and lack any sense of appreciation for what they've been enjoying for FREE up to now... Using the psn IS FREE!!!!! NOT SUBSCRIPTION BASED (Xbox Live anyone???)!!! So a little patience isn't much to ask for since they're not asking for your money. They have made mistakes, and I for one cannot understand why they don't separate out the matchmaking servers from the store and crap qriocity anyway. Or why they keep credit card details at all (surely it's not a big deal for a shopper to actually take the credit card out of their wallet when shopping online). I just wish they would get the gaming up first, then sort the rest. I reckon the vast majority of the 100 million users would agree with that.
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 15:12
What if it happens again ?? (credit card info , personal info )
Really everyones ok with that , I don't think I am, however I have always been a fan of sony.
Just would like a absolute garantee, this WILL NEVER happen again

New release games are the same price on XBox360 and PS3 in the stores near me... and on play.com. E.G. Lego Pirates.... Brink.... CoD Black Ops... etc. so the psn IS FREE. After initial release, prices of games may fall at different rates.... but that is due to other matters and nothing to do with the console manufacturers/game licence fee.

I am not a microsoft user ( 1ps1, 2 ps2, 1 ps3) that being said, is everyone complaining about paying 4 online ( 60/12= $5 month) ride your bike to work 1 day . xbox live is paid !!
Anonymous 12 May, 2011 16:02
People who pay Xbox Live and argue it's worth it, it's only X per year, Y per month, Z per day... That's not quite the point.... The point is that whatever the amount is, it's on top of what's already being paid. Once you've bought and paid for the console (not rented), then bought and paid for the game (not rented), you then rent a line to connect to the internet from your communications provider, And then you pay your ISP for a monthly bit rate speed and download / upload allowance... Then is it right that you should pay ON TOP of all of that AGAIN to use all of those things together that you have already separately paid for with ANOTHER added subscription to play games (you own) on a specific console (you own).

My only problem with this whole downtime is the lack of information provided to us by Sony. I completely understand they were hacked, and it takes quite a while to rebuild an entire infrastructure. As a network Admin myself, I do not understand why they were running with no firewalls on an old Apache server (If this information is indeed true). That is simply asking for trouble. But again, I would just ask for 1 new post daily on their blog...."this is where we stand.."..instead of the "we are working around the clock..."
I've been a loyal fan of them since my PS1, and will contiue to be one, but a simple update daily would not kill them...

Keep staring the sh it crave, this article just like the many thousands of articles spinning around the world is bs, do something useful with your time and start asking sony questions about when the rest of the world are going to get the fraud insurance which America already has. And for all them people saying "you get what you pay for" open your fu cking eyes, the xbox is cheaper than the ps so work that one out or is it too difficult!!!!!!!! Annoying.com

This is piss poor. Yet again are you responsible for rehashing already available information into a seemingly attractive news story. I obediently answer your call like some misguided dog desperate for some scrap of intelligence. But no, I arrive to find a general spread of journalistic incompetence and the baseless manifestations of early 20th Century "Yellow press".

dont forget that when a outside company is hired they have to milk it so they can bill them a good chunk.
they play the sales pitch and say they need to test it internally. they can test it till there blue.this a GOLD to a firm.how often do they get a company in crisses like this.they could care less about sony customers.yes they r testing the system but if they had a gun to there head u can bet the same result with less time would b done.
BTW anybody know the names of the outside firms thats bleeding sony and our time.

Sony can s*ck a fat baby's c**k...with Googles announcement earlier this week to launch their own OS called Chrome in an attempt to finally give Microsoft Windows a run for its money, one can only hope that a gaming console from the online giant wont be far behind...thereby rendering Sony and Microsoft obsolete. Sony can tongue jack my azzcrack...I think that they as a company have piss poor management and backwards ass preparation...Where was the backup plan...if I had the money I would fly to San Diego, smash my PS3, take a huge sh*t on the steps of Sony, pay my bail and buy an XboX, even though I detest Microsoft...at least they have their sh*t together

Why is no one mentioning Amazon? The PSN servers are not hosted by Sony. They are Hosted in the Amazon Cloud. It was the Amazon Cloud that got hacked.
Anonymous 14 May, 2011 19:25
The servers got hacked because they were a target hosting millions of records. Period. No computer based system is safe if hackers decide they want in. Not one. For all of you screaming about security, I am impressed Amazon (Again, Sony does not host the PSN, Amazon does.) has kept hackers out for this long. How many of you have gotten viruses at one point or another? I would say most likely every single person that has posted their poorly thought out and ignorant comments has, and likely has a few floating around on their machines right now.
It is the fault of the criminals. A) WE are the victims. And B) What were you doing putting personal information on the internet for? You could have prevented the theft of your details by not putting them out there for the world to take. Dumb asses. Did you store your credit card number with yoru account? If so the fault was your own as much as Sony's or Amazon's. Bottom line: Don't put your sensitive information on the internet.
