Nintendo first hinted at a new motion accessory for the Wii remote last July. Announced yesterday, the Wii MotionPlus attachment will officially be released on 12 June. MotionPlus promises a more precise and accurate experience while using the motion controls on the Wii remote. The device attaches into the nunchuk port at the base of the remote and will work with all existing games -- but most noticeably with the sequel to Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort.
Resort will show off these new 'deep control enhancements', such as riding a Jet Ski, duelling with a sword and throwing a Frisbee -- click through our gallery for more screen shots. Wii Sports Resort will go on sale on 24 July and will include one MotionPlus attachment.
UK prices haven't been announced, but the MotionPlus will go for $20 (£14) in the US, with Resort setting you back $50 (£35).
Whether or not MotionPlus will improve the motion control experience in existing games is yet to be seen, but it promises a much more sophisticated set of control options for game developers to work with in future. Maybe we'll finally get the lightsaber game we've all been waiting for -- that's certainly what Nintendo has in mind, as you can see from the Wii Sports Resort screenshots in our gallery.
