The Simpsons free iPhone and iPad game out soon
Woohoo! Electronic Arts is launching a free iPhone and iPad game of The Simpsons in the coming weeks, our sister site CNET News reports. The Simpsons: Tapped Out is completely official, made with the help of the show's writers and voice actors. So when Homer speaks in the game, he'll sound exactly as he does in the show.
The game will be free, but you'll have the option of buying virtual currency (doughnuts, in this case) to help you progress. It's what's known as a 'freemium' title, where you can pay real cash money if you want to improve your standing. Continue reading...
Angry Birds Space blasts off on 22 March
A new version of Angry Birds is on the way, and it promises an extra-terrestrial setting for the irritated avians. Angry Birds Space sees the birds take to the cosmos, in what could be the most out-there edition of the game ever. (Although the KISS version will take some beating.)

Good news, Call of Duty fans -- the gigantically popular soldier-sim will be melee-killing its way on to Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld console this autumn.

Microsoft has acknowledged the spate of attacks against Xbox gamers. The boss of Xbox Live promises aggressive action against cybercriminals targeting gamers for millions of pounds.

PlayStation Vita 3G is £279 on Vodafone
Vodafone is flogging the 3G version of the PlayStation Vita for £279, chucking in a 4GB memory card to boot, and Wipeout 2048 thrown in as a free download if you top-up £5's worth of data. But is that a good deal, and will you get enough data when the Vita launches on 22 February?

Dry your eyes, Xbox fans -- a Microsoft bod has confirmed there won't be a successor to the Xbox 360 on sale this year.

World's biggest NES controller and other giant tech in video 
The world's largest video controller has been unveiled at London's Liverpool Street Station. The controller is an exact replica of an old NES joypad, scaled up 30 times in each dimension. Hit play on our video to see the massive pad in gigantic action.
The working humungopad, which is 4m long and weighs 120kg, was created by British engineering student Ben Allen and collaborators from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. It takes two people to play with and has to be transported in a lorry. Continue reading...
