Crave PSP Update: Sports Illustrated

Games and Gear

You can't even buy a PlayStation Portable on London's Oxford Street at the moment, but we begged and pleaded with Sony to let us have one. In the end, it had to give us one just to get rid of us. And as it didn't want us coming back anytime soon, we were slipped its entire line-up of launch titles.

If you got your console from the US, you simply had to own Wipeout Pure, Ridge Racer and Lumines. Now that the console is finally out over here, you can add Everybody's Golf to that list. It's the first golf game to get any of the Crave team excited -- the cheeky Japanese styling helps take your mind off just how hard putting is in the game. The rewards are fun, with new outfits and sets of clubs -- and a quick round can really take your mind off the drudgery of the commute (if you live in London, at least).

More disappointing is World Tour Soccer. Perhaps we've been so used to Pro Evolution Soccer 4 that playing anything else feels like going from Champagne to Chardonnay. World Tour is completely unrealistic, but the best feature of the game is the challenge mode, where you rack up points for clean passes and tackles, and of course scoring goals. And despite being called 'soccer' (as opposed to 'football' -- come on you Yanks), you can still open up the classic 1966 World Cup-winning England team.

And what else does Crave have planned for you over the coming months? Well, Burnout Legends is shaping up nicely to plug the gap left since we finished Ridge Racer, and once Pro Evolution Soccer 5 arrives in October, you shouldn't expect any updates to Crave till Christmas at the earliest. Keep your eye on the Games channel, where we'll have reviews of more PSP games soon. -GC
