Xbox and PSP online: take on America and WIN!

We love online gaming at Crave -- beating teenage American brats at Halo may be a short-lived high, but it helps the comedown when all our gadgets have to go back to their manufacturers. Microsoft has kindly sent us an Xbox Live kit, so we'll be setting up some multiplayer gaming sessions soon -- if you fancy kicking our collective arses online then stay tuned.

However, it's not just Xbox Live that you can use to get on with some worldwide multiplayer fragging. A clever bunch of people over at nexbc have put together a program that will set up system link games over the Internet. By connecting your console up to your PC via a standard network cable, the software simply tricks the Xbox into thinking it's playing a System Link game, while transferring all data online between players. All you need to do is choose the game you want, see a list of who's playing it, and start a System Link game on your Xbox. You'll be up and playing people across the globe within seconds, and best of all, it's completely free.

The software now supports Sony's PSP in exactly the same way. Of course, you'll need to buy a wireless router for it to talk to the PC, and there are only a few people on there at present, but we look forward to the UK PSP launch to see if our head start on Wipeout Pure will pay off… -GC
