Tech that's just wrong

Convergence: Master of none
The idea is to take a bunch of gadgets that we carry around all the time, and put them into one handy device. A camera in a phone? Okay. Camera, phone, MP3 player? Sure. How about an MP3 player with a weapon in it? Er... what?

As seen at CES 2008, the C2 Taser has a holster with a built-in MP3 player. Do we even need to say anything? One of the main criticisms levelled at converged devices is that one battery has to run a bunch of functions, so the screen showing a film will eat all the juice by the time you want to take a photo. Imagine if that happened on this bad boy! Shocking...

The concept appears to be that when someone tries to nick your MP3 player, you can shock the idea out of their crack-addled noggin with 50,000 volts. Presumably this particular piece of convergent genius emerged from the same school of thought that maintains America would be safer if everyone had guns.

And if you haven't done anything wrong, you've got nothing to fear, right?

Who owns Google? Who will own Google in 20 years time? What will the technology make possible then?

C'mon, people, THINK!
