The eBay Christmas Boutique is a brand-new way to do your present shopping -- devoid of checkouts, bags and queues (we hope), it's setting up shop today on London's Dean Street until 5 December. You can have a sneaky tour of the store in this video preview with Amie Parker-Williams.
There will be over 350 items on offer in the boutique, but you can leave your wallet at home, as method of payment is by smart phone or tablet only. All you need to do is use your handheld electronic device of choice to scan the QR codes of the items you want to buy and then let them pop up in your online eBay basket.
If you're not a smart phone owner -- and we can't think of a reason why you wouldn't be -- HTC is kindly lending out tablets in-store to help you browse, set up an eBay account and make purchases.
The boutique will be split into three sections: his, hers and family. Unlike the online eBay experience, there will be no tactical tussling over second-hand tat -- everything will be brand-new and sold at a fixed price.
The Internet giant reckons the first week of December is going to be the busiest shopping week of the year and is expecting 5.8 million shoppers to visit the site this weekend, on what it's dubbing 'Super Sunday'.
